I'll look at it, but I don't know how much time I'd have to devote to it. I'll check it out, though. :)
Yeah...it's pretty impossible, if you ask me, but I'm sure the score can be easily beaten.
I took part in a similar contest over at Digital Press many years ago. I was the 2nd place finisher (2nd one to collect all the patches) and my prize was a copy of Activision's Decathlon...signed by its creator, David Crane.
I don't think I have the ability to go through all that again. LOL! Good luck!
LOL! I've had it for a few years now. I haven't had much time to play it, but I might submit a few scores in the contest to keep y'all on your toes. ;)
Don't worry, though...I'm not going for the X-Arcade. I used to have one and got rid of it once I got the cab. ;)
I downloaded the suite, which I think has a bunch of other options and features...not sure, though.
Very low score...easy to beat!
After losing my shields and taking another hit, my shields reset to full, so I stopped playing Score when taking fatal hit was 195,555 and can be seen a few seconds before the end of the video.
I chose run speed 3, but choose whatever speed you're comfortable with.
I'll be adding the other difficulty levels and computer A.I. difficulties to the database today. Just wanted to get this one on the board.
I've always loved this game. Of course, it's much more fun with 2 human players, but the computer does give you a run for your money on the higher levels. Good fun!
I'm not going to be competing for the prizes this time around. Instead, I'll be gathering up "first" trophies, in order to give the other competitors opportunities to crack some trophies.
Deweirdo...hey, I kind of like that! LOL!
Easy score to crack for the Atari contest. :)
Did this to give players a trophy to crack for the contest. Vote me through, then come and get it! :)
I will not be competing hard core in this round of contests. Need to take a break. However, I will be trying to earn "first" trophies in many of the contest categories, giving my fellow High Scorers a chance to earn some trophies.
Best of luck to you all! :)
Winston: "Ray...when someone asks if you're a god...you say YES!"
Ray: "Hey! Where do these stairs go?"
Peter: "They go up!"
A simple Google search should yield the results you are looking for. ;)
"Mother Puss-Bucket!" (Dr. Peter Venkman)
Thanks! This version is the toughest one I played. But, if I can do it, anyone can. :)
No frigging way! :)
Wow! My nice shiny trophy didn't last long. LOL! Great score. This is tougher than it looks, that's for sure!
Yes...yes you told me. LOL!
This is my first submission using OBS and I really like it! The videos are much smaller in size compared to ATube catcher (almost 50% smaller) and I can record the audio without using the mic, which is really nice too. :)
And I will remember to put in the start time for the good run in the future. LOL! :)
Gonna try your suggested OBS. I'm starting to figure it out. ATube catcher is good, though. Once I restarted my computer, the screen grab started acting normally again. :)
LOL! No, I'm not trying to win the C64 comp. I waited too long and I really wanted to secure the Atari 8-bit win. I just gave my brother my 800XL so I wanted to get him the multi cart so he can start playing here (we've always been competitive) :)
You're too funny! And thanks for the kind words on my gameplay. This version of Ms. Pac is probably the toughest version I've played.
He's actually my grandson (we have custody of him) and he's 10. He plays a little of the retro stuff, but he prefers his Xbox 360. :)
Ok, I'm not sure why half of the screen is cut off, but you can still see the score.
Great game! I'll have to dust it off an give it a go sometime.
What do you use to record your videos? I use ATube Catcher, but I have to turn the mic off when there are folks around, so my vids don't have audio. Would like to look into something else. I tried the video recording within CCS64,but that really doesn't work well.
LOL! Like I said in an earlier post, I've been seeing a lot of my C64 trophies getting cracked, so it's time to reclaim some of them. :) If I can ever get back into my man-cave, I'll play some real hardware C64. The boy child has been down there, playing MW3. Bleh.... ;)
That's it...too many of my C64 scores are getting beaten down. Time to start reclaiming some, even though it's too late to win the contest. ;)
Interesting game. Got my vote! :)
Notice how the guy runs like the dude in Impossible Mission? :) I guess he needed to get away from the stress of jumping over robots, solving senseless puzzles and falling through holes...to become a cowboy! :)
Your high score for this game is actually 1,091. You're cheating yourself out of some points. ;) Skipping for now. :)
It was called Rally Speedway. I loved how you would combat roll out of the car (on fire) and fan out the flames when you crashed. That was really funny! :)
Nicely done. I hate the cheap deaths in this game, but overall, it's a fun game.
What a deceptively hard game. Looks innocent enough when you begin, but WOW! It's pretty evil.
LOL! That's ok...I'm seeing a lot of "Kernzy has beaten your score..." in the C64 categories. I might have to start working on those soon. ;)
Atari800win is good, but Altirra is much better. I don't know if Atari800win has been updated lately, but Altirra is always being improved on. Both are just as user-friendly, though.
Cool! Always love the extra challenge, but I think S.BAZ is going to be your tougher competition. :)
I'll save you the troube:
Press "B" to turn bounce on and off.
Press "F" for fast asteroids.
After selecting Shields, Hyperspace or flip, you have to press the fire button on the controller before pressing start.
Good luck! :)
Yup! It's pretty vanilla. If someone wants to play this for an hour or so in order to top my score, they can have it. :)
Played for about 45 minutes...got bored and committed video suicide.
Realized that I played the original version...not the 2009 remake, so I removed that submission and played the reboot. Correct game submitted this time.
It's good enough for me!
Nicely done...sir! ;)
BAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA! And the troll has returned!
What the FRAK was that I just watched? LOL!
Voted yes, naturally! :)
Total luck! I figured I'd just place the paddle in the middle and hope for the best. :)
Ok, so the controls don't work for this game...but I DID beat the current high score. LOL!
I quit on level 16 after I trapped myself and didn't remember how to kill myself off. Otherwise, I could have gone on a lot longer. :)
Removed old submission due to incorrect video. Decided to play again and did even better. Almost finished level 7.
PLEASE!!! NOBODY VOTE ON THIS SCORE UNTIL I UPLOAD THE CORRECT VIDEO.
Whoops! Will have to fix it tomorrow when I get back to work. Video is there.
I totally get what you are saying about it not being in the rules. However, since the power is really in the hands of the voters, their personal feelings come into play. I can't tell you how many no votes I've received for my photo evidence because there was no video of actual gameplay, even when I had good photo evidence. Like you said, even though the rules don't say I have to provide videos, some people won't vote yes without one.
It IS a fun site and I hope you'll stick around. There are some really nice folks here and the contests are great. Yes, there are a few bad apples in the bunch, but I've learned to just ignore them. I hope you'll stick around and give it another try.
Removing this score. Just realized I posted this in the wrong category.
Love this game. I think I finished it a long time ago, but I don't remember.
LOL! It's a great version...albeit a very frustrating version.
LOL! Uh oh... :)
The 2nd score on the list with the small paddle shows I played with small buckets.
The first score with the large paddle shows I played with large buckets.
Nicely done! Gets my vote!
Yeah, the guy was a motivated seller...he had TONS of Atari/Commodore/Tandy/etc. stuff that he acquired from his father's estate. Most of the stuff was still new in boxes (like my 1200xl.) I plan to go back and see what else I can snag.
I got the 1200xl, a 1571 disk drive for my C64, a power supply for the C64 and a cool pac man sign...all for $100.
If there's no cart in and no disk drives or other peripherals, you'll get the standard blue "boot" screen with the cursor in the top left hand corner, followed by a black screen with a scrolling rainbow colored Atari logo.
If you want to use BASIC, you need the basic programming cart.
So far, yes. I wasn't aware of the 1200xl either until I saw it for myself (and ultimately bought the beast.)
After doing some research, I found that the 1200xl came out before the 600xl and 800xl. But other than a few minor differences, it runs just like the other xl computers. For example, the 1200 xl does not have built-in basic.
It's a pretty sweet machine, though. :)
I'm done with KK for the night...Had to commit video suicide, but I could have gone on.
Yes. This is an Atari 8-bit conversion that plays just like the VCS Version:
LOL! TBH, I'm not a big fan of this game. And once you beat level 16, it doesn't get any harder. I just lose interest and make dumb mistakes.
Thanks! Can't figure out level B, though. Ugh!
This is a pretty fun game. I remember completing a long time ago. The tune is cute but gets kind of annoying after awhile.
Voted YES, BTW.
No problem! :)
If I'm playing a short game, I'll probably shoot a video, but for these long marathon games (like Juice was) I'll just stick to pics and call it a day.
Yes. When you delete a picture/video from your iPad, it doesn't get deleted. It gets moved to a "recently deleted" folder. It will sit there for 30 days before it gets deleted. You can go into your "albums" and open up the "recently deleted" folder. There, you can permanently delete them without having to wait for the 30 days.
Nah, I think I'm done with this one for now. :) Congrats on the high score. :)
Nicely done! This is quite a fierce battle we're having...on such a crappy port of a game! LOL!
Voted YES, of course.
I get such a kick out of the stupid reasons the troll votes no. Score doesn't match score submitted? Someone needs to learn their numbers, then. Just think...if you can get your letters and colors down too, you'll be a real threat! <rolls eyes...>
Ahhh! The troll strikes again! Voted no because they couldn't read the final score...but it's clearly there at the end of the video. There's a wonderful new invention called the "PAUSE BUTTON." Try it sometime...you'll be amazed at how well it works!
LOL! Actually, it's my wife...she has a really deep voice. :)
Took 2 hours to upload this video and 3 tries to publish. Hopefully posting this one will prove that it's me playing on real hardware for my other submissions because I'm not going through this again. :)
My laptop (less than a year old) a built in webcam, but I couldn't seem to get a clear picture when recording my gameplay. I might need to play with it more, but it seems like a lot of work just to save my rep rating. I'll keep trying, though. :)
I shot video of 2 other games (submssions are coming) with my iPad and it's taking over an hour each to upload. I guess I'll have to stick to pictures only (and let my reputation rating suffer.)
To whoever voted no because you wanted to see video of the whole gameplay...try watching the whole video...the whole thing is there.
Not really...I started to figure it out, but lost interest. Might try again later.
I'm running Altirra 2.30 in 600xl/800xl mode and default OS settings. I can check other settings if you need, but I'm not sure what else to check for.
Money run starts at 2:55.
Old score removed and correct version submitted. Thanks Frankie!
Score removed. Thank you.
On your score submission for JB2, all that's there is the high score table. There was no screenshot of the playfield to go by. When I loaded JB2 into Altirra, this is what popped up, so I assumed it was correct.
Totally didn't expect this either. Was looking forward to some REAL Gravitar. Oh well.
LOL! Looks like we're both playing Ms. Pac right now. :)
Voted Yes, of course.
I'm guessing that's the mothership. :)
It's a great port, but it's SUPER fast in the higher levels. :)
I fired a shot just as the plane left the screen.
Each time a shot does not take out at least one color block, you lose a bomb. 3 misses and game over.
Yeah, Gotta go after the easy ones to get started. Good luck to you! :)
Me too! It's a good version of SI.
Looking forward to some stiff competition! :)
I guess I'll have to play again tomorrow. :)
I'm adding a pic of the Flashcart because it plugs into the side of the Atari 1200xl, not on top like the 600xl or 800xl.
Advanced was the default setting on boot up, so I played in Advanced. I tried using my laptop webcam to shoot video, but the picture was so blurry, I gave up on that. Pics only for my hardware scores.
LOL! Try and keep up. ;)
LOL! I agree, it's a pretty crappy port. There's no detail on the shuttle, which makes it look that much worse.
Cheap deaths are the worst. :(
Yeah, it gets tough pretty quick.
I didn't shoot video for this because this score was attained for the Atariage 8-bit High Score Club competition...where video isn't needed. I guess I'll just have to take the hit for not posting a video here.
No, this is a homebrew. Head on over to www.atariage.com and you will find sections in the forums dedicated to folks making near arcade perfect ports of some of our most beloved arcade games. It's pretty amazing what they're doing these days with thes vintage consoles. :)
Run starts at 1:34.
Dunno...it might. But I've seen some pretty grainy videos used in the past. It might not look great, but it gets the yes votes. :)
I'll try it out today and report back. Do you have a laptop with a cam?
That's the tricky part...when you're very good at a game, ppl are going to want videos. I, myself have fallen into that trap with some games, so I just post videos as often as I can. With emulation, it's a lot easier to put up a video.
I'm going to be trying out this "Free Screencast" program with my laptop camera and see how that works with shooting video of real hardware gaming.
Don't worry...you'll get that 80% legit rating soon enough. :) Just keep with it. In spite of the trolls, this is a pretty awesome site.
It's a troll. They come and go and we just have to deal with them. Keep something in mind. The no votes actually count toward the score being pushed through, so while it might hurt your rep rating a little, they're actually helping you getting your score legit. Take the good with the bad. :)
I don't see anything with a score on it. Skipping for now...
Nice! I have the Stelladaptor, so I'm able to connect any of the retro 9-pin joysticks. I prefer the classic Atari joystick for most games, but the slik stik for the T-N-F games. :)
Welcome to Highscore.com, Dugger.
As for making videos, if you have a laptop with a webcam, you can use Free Screencast. I just downloaded it and am learning to use it. Just point your laptop at your TV screen, hit record and you're off. :)
Voted yes, but I'll agree with the others. If the score is WAY above and beyond, you'll have a hard time getting them accepted without video.
Voted yes! I love the high score poster. I need to get one of those for my man cave.
Voted yes! What controller do you use for your track-n-field games? For me, nothing beats the slik stik...It's small, with a short throw, which allows me to get those faster speeds. :)
Yes. I saw the super low score set by Oyama (thus giving us a chance to win...lol) so I didn't bother to set up the controls on this one, yet. :)
Yeah, the fast mode is a little too fast for my liking. Only topped the 1st score by 20 pts. Calling it a day on that one.
This port is a lot tougher...the strong gravity makes this one pretty hard.
Since this entry doesn't have a difficulty level assigned to it, I played on the default setting, which is Intermediate.
Yeah, it's pretty much over. I can't catch you now. You will love that modded 7800, BTW. Great competition and great job!
FYI, On the skeleton level, you pass the level by shooting the wraith that appears in the background in the head. It's pretty tricky to line up your shot while those skeletons are barrelling down on you. :)
Resubmitted with the correct video. Thanks Oyama for the catch! :)
Crap! Thanks for the catch. I have so many videos in that folder, I gotta clean it out some. Thanks again!
Yes...I suck at it. :)
I use "MyIDE Drive Manager." I haven't used it in awhile, so let me play around with it and get back to you. I'll load up a couple ATRs so I can give you better instructions. :)
Run starts at 1:42.
Isn't the Atarimax flash cart da bomb? I love mine! :)
I've always enjoyed Q*Bert, but I've never been able to get past 5-1. Haven't figured out the pattern there, yet.
I tried playing B*NQ on the 7800 on expert mode. Now THERE'S a challenge. YIKES!
Thanks BAZ! I got lucky a few times, as you can see. I doubt I'd be able to repeat that performance.
Thanks! The most brutal part of this variation is how slow you go while eating dots.
No, I never had a 5200, but I did (and currently) own an 800xl. This plays almost exactly like the 5200...as do most games, it seems. I'd love to add a real 5200 to my collection someday, but I have a feeling I wouldn't like the controller much. LOL!
You can see in my game window that I'm running the 5200 OS with 16Kb RAM in the Atari800Win emulator.
I know the score is small, but it's readable. :) Picked up Joust and a couple others at my local 2nd & Charles today. :)
Re-submitted with the correct video this time. :)
Crap...I'll remove this score and repost later with the right one. Thanks!
I've tried a couple of those already. These are some tough varations, for sure! :)
I hear ya! I'm trying to find time to upload scores...but it's getting harder and harder now. I'm scanning through the PMC scores with a fine-toothed comb...trying to find something I could possibly try to beat. Pickins are mighty slim right now.
So, I'm going back to the 5200 emu for now. :)
I'm trying! I swear! LOL! :)
This is one of those games where the more I play, the worse I get. Super frustrating!
You've got quite a few scores in today. You're not out of it by any means! Keep it up! :)
Wow! There's some serious competition going on in Worm! I'm gonna have to get in on this. :)
Voted yes, of course! :) Don't sweat it! I think we're all guilty of expressing a little negativity when playing games at one time or another. It's all part of the experience!
It most certainly is, but it's kind of a cool premise...get them to one point...then pick them up again to the REAL safe zone. :)
This version is a very good port. I have to practice the first course before I try a run at the trophy, though.
Thanks! I'm trying to keep up with Oyama, but I think it's gonna be all for naught. He's just too good at those pac games. :)
Good run starts around 1:34.
I believe so...very buggy.
Thanks! Some of these variations are killer!
I changed the settings to allow me to use the trackpad on my laptop...like a mouse. I used Mouse Pos X for the left and right controls...Mouse Pos Y for up and down. Then, you can change the sensitivity by changing default setting to "relative" and then moving the slider up and down for sensitivity. Let me know if you're able to do that. If not, I'll try to be clearer in my directions. :)
I never thought to try that. I have a cam on my laptop. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the tip! :)
I accidentally submitted the same pic twice. Here's the settings screen. :)
I don't know why the pics came out sideways...they were right side up on my computer.
No video...sorry. I don't have the ability to shoot video with real hardware. Hope the pics are enough proof. Took pic of game setting screen and game over screen
No video...sorry. I don't have the ability to shoot video with real hardwre. Hope the pics are enough proof. Took pic of game setting screen and game over screen.
No video...sorry. I don't have the ability to shoot video with real hardware. Hope the pics are enough proof. Took pic of game setting screen and game over screen.
There is no "orange" level. Peach is the orange level. Whoever requested this misnamed it. It's all legit. :)
I love turbo pac man. :)
Yeah, ATube Catcher just names them with some ungodly long number. I can rename, but eh... :)
Thanks for the kudos. I got into the zone there for a bit. That cheap death did suck, though. :)
Video is private. Will skip for now.
Always been one of my favorite games!
My wife would certainly agree, Trickster! ;)
No biggie on the audio. I turn the audio off when the tv is on or if the wife is around. :) Voted yes!
I don't know why that happens. It was set to public. Fixed.
Scored my last goal with no time on the clock. Never seen that before. :)
You have the wrong screenshot up for this submission. Skipping for now.
FYI, I cut out the audio when I have the TV on and when the wife is home. :)
LOL! Are you trying to let me win? ;)
IMO, this is the hardest version of all the consoles. Ms. Pac's movements are very clunky, making it easier for the ghosts to catch her.
I welcome the challenge! Best of luck to you! :)
Yeah, don't sweat the no votes. I dropped from 98.9 to 98.4 in a matter of hours because of a troll. Sucks, but not sure what can be done about it. Take comfort in knowing that the no votes count toward the overall legitimacy and are actually helping push your score through. :)
I don't know why this is happening...It's set to public when I publish it. It should be fixed now.
Don't forget the Concerto Cart.
Awesome! Thanks! I'm going to keep fiddling around and see if I can get my CX-40/Stelladptor to work with it. :)
For some reason the video didn't publish...should be good to go now. Sorry.
Video published...should work now.
LOL! Too funny!
Not that it's a huge deal, because no votes count toward legitimacy, but it's killing my reputation. :(
Medium difficulty is actually "regular."
Votes no because they want a video...when the evidence IS a video. What a douchebag.
Hey, Mr. "Votes no for everything..." If you're going to vote no, at least correctly state why you're voting no. You said you wanted to see a video. Open your eyes, dumbass...this IS a video.
Go troll somewhere else.
I haven't figured out all the keyboard commands yet for the 5200 controller. Won't let me pick the gamepad option for the 5200 games, but it works fine in 800 mode. Too bad because I could attain much higher scores if I could use the joystick.
What??? And help the competition? LOL!
Sure! It's not hard. Under the system menu, go to "hardware" and select 5200. Then you attach cartridges under the "file" menu.
As of now, I have not figured out how to use my Atari joystick (with the stelladaptor), so I'm using keyboard controls.
Thank you! And if "Mr. No" can tell me how I'm supposed to shoot a video of these, I'm all ears...but I know he won't.
Since the FB2 uses the "Atari On A Chip", which is actual hardware, I think this is in the correct category. Voted yes! :)
Yes, with this game variation, the asteroids don't move diagonally. Also, there are no UFOs to deal with. Pretty boring variation. I killed off my ships after rollage out of sheer boredom.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong with ATube Catcher. Can't seem to get a full screen for making videos. I turn the mic off because I'm usually watching TV or talking to the wife while playing, so there's not much need for sound. So, to make sure you know it's me, I'm starting the video with my Highscore.com username/avatar showing. :)
I've forgotten how to use ATube Catcher, so please excuse the crappy, tiny video. I'll get the hang of it and post better videos. This one does not have sound, either.
I appreciate your explanation and I respect what you are trying to do, but allow me to respond to the two areas that would trigger a no vote from you:
Yes, editing the picture with a watermark of my username is very easy to to...that's why I do it. I explain exactly what I do in the flowchart thread. But if I were cheating then that means out there on the internet is the same picture above, minus the watermark. Doing a simple google image search would show that no such image exists. That's just as easy to do.
As for the video requirement, I've been down that route. I go into that in the flowchart thread. While I have the tech knowhow, not everyone does. What's more is that I've found that certain video cap programs work well with some emus and not others. ATubeCatcher works well with Stella and JNES, but I can't get it to work very well with CCS64. And finally, even after going to all the trouble to record a video, stating my name, game and settings and posting it to YouTube, it would still get a no vote because it wasn't a split screen, showing me actually playing the game. So I made the decision to stop making videos. It wasn't worth the time and energy if it was still going to trigger no votes.
I thank you for your explanation and I do appreciate the yes vote. You are a respected member of the community and I do appreciate you trying to make the voting process more consistent. I hope you don't take my comments offensively...this is not my intention at all. I'm just trying to offer a POV from the other side. :)
I'll be there! Thanks! :)
Well, looks like we both had a last minute rush of votes. :) I can't catch you now. You're 20 ahead of me and I only have 17 possible trophies. Great competition! I look forward to the next round of contests. :)
Yeah, I was surprised to see that. I guess, with the contests coming to a close, people are coming on and voting. I came close, but not close enough. You'll love this drive emulator! Enjoy! :)
Already did. I got nothing to vote on right now.
Thank you for your votes. :)
Sort of. Just a static screen after completing a difficulty level. I only played on beginner.
Had to remove the old score. I entered the wrong score. Resubmitting with the correct score. Thanks for the catch, Trickster. :)
Thanks! It's a tough version, for sure! Not sure I can catch you at this point, but I'm not one to give up. :)
Happy New Year to you too! :)
I know! I just couldn't get in the zone. :)
Took me 20 minutes to get that score. Damn, that's tough.
Might as well comment here. I think it's funny how some people can leave only a photo and have it pass 100%, while others <like my latest barrage of scores> get no votes for the same thing. <rolls eyes...>
It might be. Not sure. I used the joystick and it gets pretty hard, pretty quick!
The score is hard to read, but there's no way to clear it up. You score 5 points for each second after you clear a board, so the last digit can only be a 0 or a 5.
Yeah, back to working 2 jobs, so time has been limited. Fortunately, I'm getting a bit of a break this week for Thanksgiving, so I thought I'd get back into things.
Thanks! I've always liked this game! :) I started to geta little lazy toward the end. I'm sure if I had kept my concentration, I could have gone on longer. :)
Sweet! This handheld has an interesting story behind it. I remember back when I was in elementary school. I was probably in 2nd or 3rd grade and some kid brought this to school and was showing it off. I so badly wanted to play it, but he wouldn't let anyone play it. I was sooo jealous of him.
And now, 35 years later, I finally have my own! LOL!
Look what I scored at the flea market for $5. Also found a 1979 Mattel "Football II" for another $5. :)
The yellowing wasn't off the charts bad. It was light yellow. Yes, I took a magic eraser and plain water. After giving it a good scrubbing, I took a cloth and dampened it with hydrogen peroxide and wiped down the whole console. I went over every key with the magic eraser too, which really brightened them up. :) I've added some pics to my evidence. :)
You can snag one relatively cheap off eBay. This one sat in my old bedroom for many many years. When I went home last summer, I stumbled across it. Still works. The 1541 was hit or miss, so I grabbed an SD2IEC drive emulator and I'm back in business. :)
It's the only score I can post right now...that's the only game I have at this time. :)
Thank you! I'm running out of older tables to play...gonna have to start working on the newer machines soon. :)
Thanks! I love playing the older tables and this one poses quite a challenge. It took me over a month of on and off playing this one to get that score.
This is a fun table. I wasn't getting anywhere near the current high score...then I just had a killer game. I got Multiball 3 times in this run. :)
Took me all day to get that score. Some of these older machines are brutal, to say the least.
Thanks! This table has always kicked my butt...just happened on a good game, I suppose. :)
I have loved pinball since I was a kid. Just recently came across the new Kiss, Walking Dead, Star Trek and Wizard of Oz tables while at the beach earlier this week. Great fun!
I won't spoil it, but I'm sure the "how-to" is on the interwebs, somewhere. :)
Scored one "Backdoor Billion" point shot...didn't even know that existed! Cool surprise! :)
Thanks! I see you're dominating in the Game Boy and SNES contests! Nice going! :)
After playing this game for MONTHS, I finally had a decent game! Now to try Battle City 2008! :)
Eh, not really...those pong units were loose and not in the best of shape. Besides, I have a CIB Sears Super Pong, a CIB Atari 2600 in near mint condition and an Atari 7800 modded for composite and S-Video. I could afford to let those other units go. :)
Oh, I didn't buy it! I even tried to talk him down on the price and he wasn't budging. Screw that!
It's a gaming store that sells used video games/consoles. They have everything from Xbox to pong systems and everything in between. I actually traded an Atari 2600, a Coleco Gemini and a couple pong units for an Xbox 360 there.
The Atari Pinball unit was on sale for $85! I can get one for half that cost on Ebay.
There's a Gamer Doc near my house that has one of these, but he wants WAY too much for it. Otherwise, I'd have snatched it up long ago.
Sorry...no audio on this one. We were watching The Walking Dead...which can have some language, so I muted my mic.
I love these strange boards...lots of places to trap yourself, so there's so much more strategy to them.
I do not like the stage that's wide open, though.
Actually finished with 105.8% accuracy!
LOL! I know...I felt so dirty while playing that game.
I have been playing this for weeks now, trying to get a decent score. For an old machine, it sure it tough.
I gotta try Pink Floyd. Looks like fun.
I'm pretty sure you were just teasing, but here's my take:
Since everyone has the opportunity to play the hacks via emulation, I don't see why they wouldn't/shouldn't be allowed.
With regard to this particular hack, It's MUCH harder, IMO. Can't see the enemies very well...and it seems like they teleport around the board sometimes.
It's freakin' HARD! I think I could improve on it, but not by much. :)
Man, I felt like I was on acid while playing this hack. Interesting to say the least.
LOL! I just played this too! Did it suck for you as much as it sucked for me? :)
Sorry...no video this time...This game is horrible and I didn't want to subject myself to having to play it again.
High score run begins at the 3:00 mark. Feel free to skip ahead.
Arkanoid on all platforms is a very unforgiving game...made worse if you don't have a spinner. :)
Crud...back to it, I guess.
Great score! Voted YES!
And that's Iron Man 2 playing in the background...had to balance out the girly factor some, right? ;)
Final score can be seen at the 6:00-6:30 mark. Yes, I had to play this one. Ugh!
I'm using ATube Catcher. It's the only one I know how to use ATM.
No audio on this one.
Ok, that was hilarious!
Voted YES for the sheer entertainment value.
It's a YES from me!
Sorry...no audio on this one.
Using Atube Catcher for video...not sure why it's so blurry. Any help on cleaning this up for future recordings would be most appreciated. :)
I posted one late last night with a video. When you get to the apple stage, it's almost impossible to control Ms. Pac Man...it's just so fast! :)
Nicely done! Voted YES!
You can see my Highscore.com page up in the background, verifying that it is me. The video shows level settings and gameplay.
If you look right below the high score, you will see that the setting is on Crazy. No booster icon indicated on the left which shows that I played with the booster off.
I will provide video evidence of my scores from now on.
Many of them are. :)
In an attempt to put more legitimacy in my posts for Ms. Pac Man, I will provide more pictures.
Pic #1 shows the game settings.
Pic #2 shows the top of the start screen (which also confirms the settings.)
Pic #3 shows the bottom of the start screen, confirming the starting level setting.
Pic #4 shows the game over screen with the final score.
Pic #4 shows the final death and the current score.
Pic #5 shows the game over screen with the final score.
If you can't find it there, head over to: www.vpforums.org
It was part of the Tron contest held earlier in the year...it's a Future Pinball Table. You can find everything you need at: http://www.futurepinball.com/
Great score! Voting YES!
Thank you. I appreciate it.
That's because some of these games do not offer high score initials on them. What's more is that JNES allows to capture video, but the file format is not one that the website accepts. So, I'm pretty much relegated to doing screen caps and putting my username on them.
Feel free to vote yes or no on them, but I don't know what else I can do at this time. I'd welcome any suggestions you might have to offer.
ARRRRGHHHH! I was hoping I wasn't going to have to play that game again. Ugh!
Seriously, good score, man! Voted YES!
Yeah, that took some time to get through...I was actually getting a little bored, so I stopped being so careful. :)
<in raspiest voice possible> "I'M BATMAN!" :)
What a crap-tastic game THAT is. Bleh....
Man, this version is MUCH harder than the Atari and C64 versions. What a pain jumping off the vines.
Voted YES! Hope you'll do the same for me. :)
Voted YES, would appreciate the same in return. :)
LOL! That's right! I forgot all about that. Too funny!
I think I'm done with WoF for now...Ugh!
Yeah, I think Mae got that last one. LOL!
Voted YES! Hope you'll do the same in return. :)
Voted YES! Hope you'll return the favor. :)
YES! A new stereo system! Just what I needed! LOL!
Thanks Derek! I've never been much of an NES player, but playing in the contests can sure spark an interest in games I'd otherwise never play.
Good luck to you too, sir. :)
What is the team name? I don't recall signing up, but I'd certainly give it my all.
Voted YES! Hoping you'll do the same for me. :)
Never mind...found it. Do we have a team?
What is IGBY 2?
I didn't win the boat this time. :(
I won the car, too! :)
Voted YES! Hope you'll return in kind. :)
It's actually pretty fun, once you figure it out. Gets real hard on the upper levels.
Voted YES, btw.
I tried playing this earlier on jnes...it was unplayable...the walls/floors wouldn't move, or would jump around and I would fall through and die. Said "screw it" so I'm happy to vote YES for yours.
Yup! Same here. Got to level 2-2 with the moving boss-gun-thingy...Couldn't get past it.
That's pretty damn cool! Thanks for sharing! I'll have to look into that.
Voting YES, as always! You are an excellent competitor! Just one question...how do you emulate the NES on the Game Boy? I saw a few scores like that. Just curious.
LOL! Some of these looked pretty easy to top...until I actually started playing them. This version of Ms. is really tough!
Finally managed to top a high score! Whew!
A YES vote from me! Hope you'll do the same in return.
It's really fun. The controls feel a little sticky, but once you get used to it, you can use that tiny delay to your advantage. Plan your next step, so to speak.
Score #8 on the table.
Voted YES! Hope you'll do the same for me.
Had to snag a quick screen cap because there's no HS table for this one.
I am HOOKED on this table right now. Of all the scores on here right now, I think I might actually have a shot at cracking this one. All the others are just crazy high...too good for me.
Oh, and I voted YES!
That's a YES from me! :)
Voted YES for you. Hope you'll do the same for me in return. Welcome to Highscore.com!
Voted YES! Hope you'll do the same in return for me.
Voted yes! Hope you'll do the same for me. :)
Can't see it...but I'm voting YES anyway...you're a trusted member.
Voted yes! Hope you'll do the same for me.
Voted yes! Hope you'll do the same in return.
Voting yes! Hoping you'll do the same for me.
Great score! Voted YES, as usual!
Oh, and I voted yes for all of them.
I don't think there's a DS contest currently running.
That's pretty cool! Congrats on your accomplishment. Oh, and I voted YES, of course.
As always, you get a yes from me.
Wow! Great score! Voted yes! Hope you'll do the same for me.
Nice job! Voted yes! Hope you'll do the same in return.
That's ok...I still voted YES!
Removed old submission...was listed wrong. The watermelon on the bottom right corner shows it is in classic mode.
I had to delete my previous submission and resubmit due to the wrong time being entered.
Don't know how I could shoot video of this...hope the pic is good enough. :)
Also voted yes! Welcome, enjoy and vote yes for my stuff too. LOL!
Voting yes...hope you'll do the same for me.
I say YES! Please reciprocate.
I say YES! Hope you'll reciprocate.
I stopped playing after I cleared all the dungeons.
Yeah, it's tough with the joystick, but there isn't any other way to play. :) Thanks for the
Thanks! I hate how some levels are literally impossible to beat. A square you need will disappear and sometimes not reappear before the timer runs out. :(
It is a fun game, though.
I'm choosing to skip voting on this score, so as not to damage your legit score. :)
Rather than voting no on this one, I'm opting to skip over it, therefore not damaging your legit rating. :)
McKong is a long-time competitor over at Atariage. He has earned my trust and respect and I believe his scores to be legit. I vote YES.
@McKong: You will find there are some folks here that are pretty strict about what counts as legit evidence. I've posted scores with photos, my screen name, my initials and video, stating my name and STILL get no votes. So, don't get discouraged if you see no-votes. Even the "no" votes go toward passing the score through. :)
Glad you're here!
Crap! There go all my trophies!
Seriously, though...welcome, McKong!
I vote YES. Hope you will do the same for me.
If you bump into the wall, a dot will show up and start bouncing left/right. Shoot it and it will slow down the heart rate a little.
Voting YES! I love this game. Will have to give it a whirl.
I'm voting YES on this, but in the future, try to put your username in the picture. Even writing it on a piece of paper and sticking in the shot.
There is ID in the pic. He's got highscore.com in the background with his username showing. :)
It's not too hard to clean the paddles if they're jittery. There are how-to's online, but I can provide a link here if needed.
Even the cleanest paddles will still jitter a little with the Stelladapter. I know I can do better on real hardware. Gonna have to get crackin'! :)
I have several sets of paddles. If you want a set, I'd be happy to clean a pair and send them to you.
I say yes. Hope you'll do the same for me in return. :)
Seriously, I look forward to the challenge. I'm really enjoying this site. My only regret is that I didn't find out about this place sooner. LOL!
So Jealous! I can't wait to see one of these pins and play it.
Votes YES, BTW.
Ah! Giving me some competition!
Nice score! Voted YES!
I got a rash of no votes last night for dumb reasons too. One said I used shady tactics and several said they were submitted under the wrong category (which they all were in the correct category.) And some were just "other."
I guess someone was hoping to get some last night and was let down, so they decided to take it out on us. Don't sweat it. I vote YES!
LOL! Not sure what tactics I used that were considered shady, but whatevs...
I have the Pac-Man Collection Cart for the 7800. It's awesome!
And I eat fruit as much as possible. I'm actually in training for my first ever 5K race...coming up in July.
You'll always get a YES from me. You are an honorable competitor, sir.
Yes, but my paddles were kind of jittery. I need to take them apart and clean them. I love my Stelladapter! :)
Thank you for the suggestion. And...sorry.
What does Preview mean? Just curious!
I'm working my way back, but I think I'll wait for the next season. I'm playing in the Atari 8-bit HSC, though. :)
I also never vote 'no' due to lack of a video. You are an awesome competitor over at Atariage and I have enjoyed playing against you over the years. Your scores are legit to me!
I vote YES! :)
Thanks Oyama! Much appreciated. :)
Thanks! It once was a Klax cabinet. I got it already gutted out. Of all the cabs that I had available to me, this one was in the best shape.
Still have some stuff I want to do to it. I want to put in a spinner...maybe change out the buttons for LED buttons...some more decorating under the screen and sides. All in all, it's a great machine. :)
Skip to 1:50 to see my run for game 14.
Sorry, I can't shoot video capture from my MAME cab. It's not connected to the internet. So, I took a shot of the cabinet, then a couple close ups of the screen, showing the score. Hope that will suffice. :)
It's so slow in the beginning...Ugh! Great game, though.
Ok, I stated my username TWICE in this video, which will hopefully satisfy whoever voted 'no' in my Reactor score (because they weren't sure it was actually me who played it.) ;)
Thanks! Always been a fan of this game. Never played the arcade version. I should give it a whirl on my MAME cab.
I jumped into this contest way too late to catch you, but I thought I would see how close I can get to ya. :) Don't worry about me...I'm no threat to you. :)
Yes. I play in full screen, but it shrinks it to the top left corner. I'll try the suggestions by Oyama and S. BAZ. I really don't mind, as long as the whole playfield shows in the recording. :)
LOL! thanks! The pic shows up as a broken link for me, so I couldn't see it.
Thank you for the advice. I'm going to try it out on my next video. I'm off for spring break, so I'm planning on making several over the next week. :)
Yeah, I tried that, but it still only records in the top left corner. It's not too big a deal since the whole playfield can be seen. I'll try selecting a smaller section and shrinking the playfield to fit. Maybe that will make the recording look full screen.
Thanks for the advice. :)
How do you record in full screen? I'm playing in full screen, but the playback shows it in the top left corner only? It's not that big a deal because you can see the whole playfield in the playback, but I was just curious.
This was my first video attempt using aTube catcher. Please have mercy. :) Haven't figured out how to do full screen yet.
Thanks. I've always liked this game. Simple premise. Fun to play. I love the A setting and being able to plunge into the water. :)
I say YES! Would love for you to return the favor if you can. :)
Ohhhh! I totally forgot about this game. Fun game! I voted yes!
I figured it was time to start posting some MAME scores (and show off my cool MAME machine.) :)
More to come!
The SD2IEC runs about $75 U.S. Dollars. You can find them on EBay. It plugs into the same port as a standard 1541 drive. It gets its power off the cassette port, so there's also a line you plug into there. I absolutely love mine. I have the entire library at my disposal now. It also works with the Epyx Fastload Cart, so my load times are super fast.
I highly recommend getting one. :)
That's pretty sweet!
I went home last summer to visit my mother and when I was going through my old closet, I found my old C64/1541 Drive and my huge box of disks. I couldn't wait to get home and try it all out. Everything worked, except my keyboard had a couple busted off keys. The 1541 drive kept conking out after about 30 minutes of use. So, I nabbed a C64 off Ebay and bought the 1541 drive emulator (SD2IEC) so I can play all my old games again on real hardware. That, along with this awesome site has rekindled my love of these classics! :)
When it comes to the "Atari 8-bit vs. C64" discussion, I've always felt that Atari wins in the graphics department, where C64 is king in the audio department. Despite only having 3 channels of audio, versus Atari's 4 channels, the C64 seems to do more with less. Atari's graphics (especially where arcade ports go) seem much more spot on IMHO.
I think I fixed it. Try it now.
LOL! Nice "hidden message." Voted yes just for that! :) (I would have voted yes anyway.)
Yep! Just stumbled across it. Pretty cool site!
Pretty much, but you have to bring these white dots from the top side to the bottom...one at a time. It starts off real easy, but the difficulty ramps up nicely.
It's not too difficult, but you do have to have some basic soldering skills. I've modded 2 7800's so far.
Head on over to Atariage and look in the 7800 forum. There's TONS of info on how to do it.
Yeah, that's an Atari 7800 behind my C64. It's modded for RCA and S-Video. Very nice display. I've got a Harmony Cart plugged into it right now for all my VCS gaming needs. I love my toys. :)
Yeah, it's Choplifter on steriods, that's for sure. Lots of fun. You can change skill levels and gravity settings for an added challenge.
I have an original 1541 too. Yes, very heavy. Mine only works for a short time. Stops reading disks after it warms up. Hence the drive emu.
Get ready for some competition. :)
I have a snow day tomorrow...I plan to get some C64 action on tomorrow. :)
I see you have one of those 1050 Drive Emulators. I have a 1541 Emulator for my C64 and I LOVE it! :) Very cool!
Voted YES, BTW. :)
Beginner Course. Run Speed: 4
You've GOT to be kidding me! What more do people want? Do I have to invite everyone over for dinner, then have them hover around my laptop and watch me play? This is ridiculous. I'm starting to think there are people here that are only out to screw with others and their credibility.
I hope THIS is enough evidence!
I just made a video of me playing River Raid in Altirra. When I went to play it back, all I got was audio...and it's an AVI video file. I'll have to play with it...wouldn't want the naysayers to think I was cheating or anything. :(
Thanks Oyama! I don't get what's wrong with the pic I posted that's giving me no votes, though. It's not like I have some ridiculous score or anything. It's bringing down my credibility. I don't know how to shoot videos, nor do I have a YouTube account to post videos to.
If pics aren't good enough, I'm not sure how I'm going to improve on my credibility. :(
Real hardware. Computer player on the right, Difficulty set to easy.
Got my face in that one. LOL!
Thank you, Oyamafamily! I just started back at AA. I hope to jump into the next season of the VCS HSC. I stumbled on this site while catching up at AA. This is pretty cool! :)
