true, but it could just as easily be argued that 90% of retro games can have scores editted with a hex editor!

My thinking is that if the levels dont increase, the submission is in error (regardless of the validity of the score!)  ... hope i make some kind of sense?

i dont know the game,  but i assume the level 138 is the 'starting level' .... does it rise as you play?  If not, this score has to be rated false.

I  quite agree about bug-fixes making a difference in certain cases, but you'll find that occurs ever with ADF disk images as some games have multiple versions, whilst others have been altered (or even worse, broken) when they have been cracked.

The WHD version "is" the patch, so to speak. I don't know if anyone else here uses FS-UAE either, but it supports the WHDLoad installed versions "out of the box" (you can find them all pre-installed online) with no need for any special setup. If it helps, I'll explain how it works a bit more in the forum part of the page :)

Guys, this is another game I would strongly recommend is played using the WHDLoad installed version,

There are two major bugs on the original which affect scores (fixed on the WHDLoad version)

1- when entering a score you can actually "delete" more than the three Characters you enter for your name!! This allows you to go all the way back and actually modify how your score appears (!!!)

2- when (if) you complete the game there is no way to see your final score! The outro plays and you are taken straight back to the title screen!! This is fixed by the WHD version taking you to the scoreboard instead and it showing END as the round number.

This is true. The WHDLoad patches are available for almost all Amiga games and give a lot of benefits, including "modern" controls (which still work on genuine original hardware), high score saving features and general bug fixes, including full HD installation.

There are very few which would have any impact on gameplay or scores, with only one exception I can think of (Lotus 2) which deliberately "halves" the players score to stop it reaching an upper limit.

oh and i hope the fs-uae 'auto fire' comment will be ignored! This randomly happens if you tap one of the sholder buttons and certainly wouldnt help this game!!!

the in-game shots were meant ot be videos, but i apparently set my phone up wrong. (oops!)

First game of this in a long time. All about collecting the diamonds in sequence, and I felt I probably would have got passed the very hard Dracula boss on round 12 if i'd reached him!!!  (since i could have jumped in the sectret room, as i had the diamonds already)

Hoping to topple the mighty score already posted!!!

@TheTrickster:

thanks for the welcome guys - i'm not aware that FS-UAE has a video recording mode?  (the most recent posts i have checked on it, suggest not) and I must confess to being quite tight on HD space, considering a game like this takes quite a long time to play that far into!!

I will certainly add some kind of name tag to the edge of my laptop or something though, and maybe record a few minutes of gameplay on minie, or my wifes phone if i can....

yeah, it's trye...  i hold the knowledge because i wrote the patch ;)

http://www.whdload.de/games/Cybernoid.html

It gets rid of the annoying need to use the keyboard, which imho slow the pace of the whole game making it ridiculously difficult. (even more so on Cybernoid 2)

You can either use a classic "2 button" approach, and just use the second fire button to switch between secondary weapons, or you can use a full CD32 type control that uses RWD/FWD to switch back and forth between weapons and green to activate the second weapon (rather than holding fire) .... the PLAY button also performs the pause action :)

You should permit the use of the CD32 control patch on WHDLoad.

this makes the game a bit more playable to the modern gamer, but doesn't really introduce any advantage, as you could achieve something similar using the emulator control settings.
