Just wanted to pop on and say congrats and great work!
Awesome, thanks for the info, man.
Would you say that any of these versions of Sinistar feel better/more faithful than the others, or are they all pretty much spot-on?
You should try OBS, my friend! Fantastic, lightweight free capture/streaming software. Just set up a game or window capture, set your file path, and hit record. It'll really help with getting you full, quality vids not only for evidence, but for posterity. :)https://obsproject.com/
Until time runs out, but you'll never hit the record like that- at least following TGTS settings with 5 lives being max. I believe Juan Castellanos holds the record, somewhere around 20 million?Press to the last possible second where it's viable (level 1, 3, 5 especially), then clear. Loop the game as many times as you can within 5 lives, and voila!
So here's how it works. To point press, the game has to have a penalty in place to prevent you from endlessly leeching- in Castlevania's case, you die when the timer hits zero.So you have X seconds to clear the level, and can accumulate as many points as possible before a)you die or b)you finish the level.Pressing becomes it's own metagame, and Castlevania is pretty much the introductory lesson! :)
Point pressing is the name of the game in 'Vania 1 and to a lesser extent, 3. As the timer kills you, it's a fundamental and necessary strategy. The VS version has a hella short clock which I actually prefer, as some of the spots in this game are so lucrative they're silly.
Same here, man. I think I'd rather keep it totally stock and authentic at this point. I can do carts or other emulation methods for everything else.
Nice seeing the NES Classic getting a workout!
YOU ARE MASTER OF DRILLER!
I wanted to set things up for a bit of a marathon using the NES Classic and the old elgato- but it wouldn't work. After figuring everything out and getting the new software (64 bit, finally!), I decided to throw up a quick practice 'Vania run. Turns out I've gotten awfully sloppy, and their solution isn't bad at all. OBS will still be the way to go, but elgato's software works really well for a quick capture at least!
What a performance. This has always been the classic 'Vania that I've kind of skipped over, but this was inspiring!Voted yes.
Thanks guys! I can feel this one calling me back. Work and kids are seriously restricting my game time at the moment, but I'm going to give it a serious shot soon, I think!
Thanks a million!
That's awesome, gonna have to learn more about it. Thanks for the info!
They even had Popeye on that thing? Right on!
This is absolutely bananas.I hope you do play it seriously sometime soon, because this was already incredible. Voted yes, btw.
I'll figure out how and do so.
Cheers, my friend! Fighting games are great medicine!
Thank you, I just wish the combos felt more consistent.I don't know if my memories of the Playstation version being different are right, but this kind of feels like... I don't know, an extra broken amalgamation of SSFII Turbo, Mortal Kombat, and Clayfighter.
I can't believe there are multiple people playing this at the same time. On purpose lol
Shut everything off after OBS failing on a previous run, fresh restart did the trick!Terrible game, but oddly entertaining. The submitted run starts at around 6:00.
Seems Honda can pretty much combo anything into his hundred hand slap in this wonky game.OBS refused to work properly, but if anyone is up for a back and forth I'll certainly take another shot. For science!
That was just about the most masterful point pressing I've ever seen!
You know I will! :)
Submitted score starts right around 15:40. Nothing to write home about, but I want to get in the swing of things and stay active. Now that OBS is playing nice, I need to pick up a new camera!
Hey! Mostly work and kids, honestly. I keep thinking about the high score scene, and got to setting up a Mame set for a friend... subsequently got to playing some Gigawing and decided it's about time to try and be a little more active and sociable!Basically out of the active development cycle at the moment, so no more excuses for being a hermit.
I'm not totally sure why the photos uploaded upside down, but sorry! Will be trying to go much higher with accompanying video soon, but I wanted to start clawing my way up the ranks now.
Nice work, and keep pushing! There's a lot of room for improvement in the top scores too. ;)
Somehow Youtube made everything uber-wonky when it split the vid into four parts, but the entire thing is viewable on the Recordsetter page. https://recordsetter.com/world-record/highest-score-super-turrican-snes/33849
