Aight, I'll post it over there. Cheers Sixx :)
What I mean is, it's not a different game, it's the very same, down to the glitches used in speedrunning, so I really, really don't know. What d'you all think? :)
Eh I'm not sure. It's not an official port or anything, so should it really? *shrug* All the same to me, if everyone feels emulated isn't appropriate I can file a request to add SM64 to the PC category... But that doesn't feel appropriate either ^^"
Done on the brand spanking new PC port of SM64... Filed under emulated for lack of an appropriate category.
I had completely forgotten how hard it is. I'll have to delve more seriously into it, it's such good fun. When it's not throwing ropes at you.
Thing is, there are at least 3 versions of the game. One by US Gold, which is buggy and offers 8 lives; and two by Data East. One with The Goonies 'r Good Enough as title music (and in some screens), and one with another tune. I used the latter, simply because I couldn't get the PP version with Cyndi Lauper to run properly. So there. :)
The video is being processed. The borequit/suicide happens a bit after the 1 hour mark (end of the loop & final score ~01:00:40)
Given the category doesn't specify on which boardset one's supposed to play, I used "Variations on a Dream", which is - kinda - the default one, part of the Board Pack 1 that comes with the full game. I could have used the 100-board "Hahaha" but erm... That wouldn't have been very fair, or fun.
This category is kind of broken, without specifying a boardset. Just saying.
Oh, and Bandicam's overlay acted up at a couple points in the video, including one where I was clicking bricks away with me nifty lasers, which resulted in low-res folders being shown and me having to switch back to the game. *shrug* C'est la vie.
Seeing this run was quite shocking, giving this is how it runs natively on a modern Windows 10 machine... Not bad, for a game from 1996.
Slowdowns do occur when stuff explodes though, which can be annoying. Oh well. :)
Thanks Rob, it's been a busy few months indeed, glad to be posting again :D
Les gens y croiraient plus, si les initiales indiquées sur ce site correspondaient à celles indiquées à l'écran.
Abstention pour le moment.
At least put some effort in your bullshit.
That's a no.
Sorry, but that's a "Photo insufficient" from me. Please post a video if you're emulating. Saying "no save states" isn't enough. I'd also recommend using RASnes in hardcore mode if you can be bothered. ;)
* Only use Bowser or DK
* Start accelerating at the end of the first beep for a super start
* Always drift or jump/turn. No exceptions
* Only touch sand if you intend to use the shortcut with a mushroom.
Pretty sure you can cut 10 seconds off this one just with those. :D
Thanks Omar, here's hoping it sparks a bit of competition :)
Course end and final score at 03:55 in the video.
This is the US version. I don't see any reason to use the J version, except mayve for the slicker title screen. ^^"
Oh, and for those who don't know the game: the transfer of chips towards life or vice versa is perfectly legit and explained in the manual. See http://www.neshq.com/games/k/kabuki/kabuki-man01.pdf
Game ending and final score at 27:30 in the video (currently processing).
Sorry for the horrible frame rate, I messed around with the Bandicam settings and forgot to turn constant FPS back on. :/
Yup, although the jumps can be a tad inconsistent and 4-2 can go fuck itself in hell for all eternity.
Ace ending and final score at 29:52 in the video.
Just like with Albatross and Eagle, I didn't use NG+ after the ending in Ace or Ultimate.
Albatross ending and final score at 32:32 in the video.
Same as with Eagle, I didn't go for NG+ in Albatross or Ace.
Eagle ending and final score at 33:16 in the video (currently processing).
After the ending the player is brought back to the difficulty choice, I don't see it fit to start a NG+ in Eagle or any other difficulty, so I'm taking the final score of this one run... Unless you guys think NG+ is OK?
Run start at 02:20, Game Over and final score at 22:16 in the video (currently processing).
Game Over and final score at 25:36 in the video (currently processing)
Game ending and final score at 38:32 in the video (currently processing).
Game Over and final score at 12:27 in the video (currently processing).
Game Over and final score at 07:38 in the video (currently processing).
FRAK! and final score at 08:52 in the video (currently processing).
Game Over and final score at 29:00 in the video (currently processing).
Final score at 02:47 in the video.
It's a good thing trolls lack the eye-hand coordination and brain power to understand how games work or research what the maximum possible score on any game is.
Cretins.
Have a nice day, folks.
Game Over and final score at 11:32 in the video.
@DrJoshDaRealGaymer : see, you mongoloid waste of semen, I don't need troll accounts to top the leaderboard. None of us do. Crawl back to the feces ridden hole your mother pushed you through and stay there, chimp.
That will be all.
Game Over and final score at 07:28 in the video (uploading).
First of all, add your initials to your profile, that'll help with leaderboards where you enter them.
Then, at the VERY least, take a piece of paper or something and write your username and/or initials on it. Then when you take the picture, take a picture of both the score AND the piece of paper.
Finally, for emulation, definitely post a video, so there's no suspicion of using savestates. Welcome to High Score. :)
The filenames are cut off or too long. Try reuploading after renaming the shots to 1, 2 and 3? Otherwise well... Put them on imgur and link to them in the comments I guess.
Moving this score to the new track to keep things clean :)
No problem man. There's things to be said for both point of views. Anyway, judging from the other scores, I'd say this is definitely intended as a 1-life track.
I've requested the creation of a track for "best of 3 lives". This score would be a good way to inaugurate it. ;)
I see tons of continues being used before you get to the stages where you get the score. Sorry, but that's a no from me. Welcome nonetheless.
Good idea. ISB will have to re-submit his score as well, but that's probably the better solution. Thanks.
Mh, my "problem" is, you can't classify that as a level, or a stage, or a difficulty. It's the exact same game, except mode 2 (on side/disk 2) has an ending and mode 1 (on side/disk 1) doesn't.
If we get to choose, guess I'll file a new score on mode 1, might even try and max it out. *shrug*
Final score at 11:30 in the video.
I wonder though: I've been posting all my scores under mode 2 (castle), which has 8 stages and a final boss, but I see some scores have been posted under mode 1 (forest), which doesn't have those limitations and can potentially give a much higher score.
Are we limited to mode 2? Do we get to choose?
Thanks, I'm trying my best, the machine deserves a good, thriving section :D
Eh, not so much, I remember getting around 10-12k as a youngster, but I'm less into twitch gameplay these days :)
Yet another one of those games I could never finish as a child... Great stuff :)
00:16 - Level 1
02:50 - Level 2
05:16 - Start grind to 50.000 points (finishing the game gives around 50k points by itself, so it would be a tad ridiculous to finish the game with a score inferior to the previous WR... Grinding up to around the same point, thus)
07:57 - End grind
10:12 - Level 3
14:58 - Level 4
20:51 - Game ending
21:17 - Name entry
The run could have been more elegant. Oh well.
Game ending and name entry @14:03.
I'll get the timing right for those spears one day.
Game Over and name entry @10:25.
It is, but it can be pretty damn unfair at times. Thanks for the vote :)
Oh I bet it is. I'm just used to the emu with an XBox controller by now, it's the next best thing I guess :D
Thanks, just wanted to check if I could match yours (although on emulator, I don't have a SNES anymore unfortunately... and it would have been PAL anyway lol). :)
00:11 - Light Plane start
00:56 - RASnes Overlay as proof of hardcore mode (i.e. no cheats, no save states possible)
00:57 - Light Place scoring
01:15 - Skydiving start
01:55 - Bonus Chance
02:15 - Sydiving scoring
02:20 - Final score
Video is currently processing, should be good in a few minutes.
00:00 - Warming up and generally messing around, realizing it's been a few years, messing up.
08:04 - Run start.
10:28 - Run end.
Of course I was gonna make you work for it, Buttons :) You're far too good to make you compete against an unfinished game. :D
2048 @ 17:44 in the video.
Haha, go right ahead, I'd really like for the C64 section to be more active :D
Pity there's no completion bonus, especially given it's pretty easy to farm points. Oh well.
Game Ending @09:44 in the video. :)
Video processing, should be done in a couple minutes. Game Over @17:07.
And for the record, the version used is Aldebaran (Fixed) from Forum64.
No problem. It's always better with the real thing, isn't it? :)
Video should be done processing in a couple minutes. Game Over @24:48 in the video.
Well there are adapters like this one: https://www.amazon.com/MAYFLASH-N64-Controller-Adapter-Pc/dp/B002B9FIUU (which apparently works quite well).
Voted yes, great lap :)
Nothing says "F*** you, player" better than insanely bad RNG on the final boss and getting a Game Over on said last boss' last hit point... Thank you, Dragonskulle.
Video still uploading, Game Over @26:02.
Yeah, it's still good fun, although cheap tactics certainly look like the easiest way to play through it. :D
This is both hilarious and awesome. Great score Zlich. Yes, of course. :)
And done. And yeah, can't say you're wrong, once again. I mean he might have achieved the score he posted, but as you point out, even his youtube video isn't evidence of THAT score, making it very much invalid whichever way you look at it... Which in turn makes all of his submission dubious.
Cheers mate. Voted yes.
I'm still in the middle of the video, but I'd rather comment before I forget: the whole recording hardware stuff is even more preposterous than you state, Zilch. Who doesn't have a smartphone these days? Capture on the phone, transfer to PC, bam. Done.
Thanks. Don't think I'll beat it any time soon, not much more I can do unless I'm going warpless :)
Game Over and name entry @3:14 in the video.
Remember you can right-click on the picture to open it and zoom, the score isn't very legible in the screenshot.
Wow. In my memories, this game wasn't anywhere near that brutal. O_o
I just only recently started checking the 16's library. Pets Rescue is the first game I play for that system, truth be told.
Oh I do, it being a hobby and me being a casual doesn't mean I can't or don't appreciate feats like yours or speedrunners'. It's always sad to have those performances tainted by spliced, bad, cheated submissions.
Appreciate your answer as well. :)
Ah, I didn't mean it as you making any kind of racist or whatever statement either, merely that, y'know, some people might go and say "well maybe I should be more careful of just vote No to be sure, if the score comes from Brazil" - doesn't matter if the submitter is brazilian or, indeed, something else, that's what's on their screen and that's what they'll be keeping an eye out for. I think we're on the same page, don't worry. :)
Maybe I should have been clearer. Sorry for that. It's always tricky arguing these kind of things, misunderstandings happen so quickly.
And yeah, an edit button would be great lol
Great score as always, and pretty good video, quite interesting, although your mentioning nationality kind of weakens the point. A scumbag is a scumbag, it doesn't matter if they're brazilian or english of japanese or whatever.
It only gets more infuriating once physical goods are given away, that's for sure.
I don't know what to think about the Frostbite score. The video I think wasn't spliced, and for all I know it could be a limitation of a software he used for recording or from something else that automatically cuts the video after 30 minutes flat. On the one hand, yeah, it tends to point to emulation, as cameras don't have this kind of limitation, where shareware do. On the other hand, his picture of the "television" is a 4:3 ratio. I know, we've had our fair share of those on computers, but by 2013 they were well past the way out, and it looks like the bulky kind.
I also agree that the timeline of his comments vs his submission is... weird, to say the least, but the photograph he linked to WAS uploaded prior to his uploading the score on HS.com...
I wouldn't flat out dismiss their score, but it IS "a bit" light on evidence, so a No or a skip do seem more appropriate than a Yes.
I tend to think standards should be set higher, along with good guidance for new submitters. I mean, you can be forgiven for forgetting this or that the couple first times, but if you're a regular and are just posting pics of your score (sure, on what is undeniably real hardware) with no ID, why would it even be accepted? Why do people even vote legit on those? I mean, because the submitter is a regular? That's a pretty piss-poor reason to vote legit.
I mean, you've more than proven your skills, but the very least one can and should do is skim through the video, even at a higher speed, make a basic check that everything's OK. Of course we don't always have the time or want to watch a 3 or 4 hour run on a game, but still. :/
Furthermore, new WRs should probably be put under more intense scrutiny, whatever the platform, whatever the delta with the previous best. Emulation categories should probably also be more restrictive as to what constitutes a valid entry. How, however... I don't know.
There's a very valid discussion to be had on that. Hopefully your video leads to better standards across the board.
Have a nice day, Zilch. :)
Pretty cool platformer, although the controls are a bit stiff and the scrolling a bit rough. Death and high score @7:54 in the video.
Voted yes, welcome aboard mate! Don't let the trolls get you down, no reason your scores won't be approved in the end :)
Welp, here's a game that far, far, FAR overstays its welcome.
Got screwed by what's probably the final boss no less.
Death and final score @01:20:10 in the video. Video still uploading, should be online in around 20 minutes.
Thank you :)
It was one of our go-to games back in the day. I still suck at it. Probably always will. Damn dog. :D
2x 2.18m + 1 invalid
1st jump @01:00, 2nd jump @01:25
No leaderboard or name entry, score visible at 17:15 on the video.
Seriously though, the hardest part of Roomlord is entering your name. You can quote me on that. :/ Sorry for the mistake, hopefully it's stil OK.
I still love/hate this game. Will have to play it again one of these days. :)
Yes from me :)
Gotta love when people post a negative vote for no reason at all...
Makes sense. Voting yes, thanks for clearing it up :)
Nevermind, I'm tired and skipped the completion bonus. Voted yes. :)
Wait, isn't [[2 + 1 * 100] + 12] = 114?
Or is the calculation [[(Recipies + 1) * 100] + Percentages]?
All your other scores are legit, but this one looks like a typo or something. I'll skip.
ENFIN un score sur mobile avec une vraie identification. J'ai cru devenir dingue au bout du cinquantième vote négatif. Merci. :')
Voté Yes.
Hartelijk dank. Pity the two-coconut combo struck me, an extra life would have been useful :)
