Yeah, I need to catch up on that soon, I hadn't been on that site for several days now (had a gaming expo to attend, plus I'm doing other stuff).
Ha ha! Yes vote though...nice to have others pick this up. (Nuts, forgot to play Bosconian at an expo I just got back from!)
Thanks for letting me know...voted
How is it you lose your helicopters?
Great rendition during the game over screen!! Thanks for leaving that in!
Oh, what kind of crap are they pulling now?
Edit your profile so your initials are ABO and I'll give you a yes vote for this one.
i think this was a prototype game or at least the rom said so.Im not sure the history behind it.
Yeah, I didn't think it had been released for the 2600 but I couldn't remember.
I miss the arcades. everything now has lcd screens
Oh yeah, I know what you mean, like with the Crossy Road arcade port. Ugh!
Thanks for putting up the vid. I never played this verison of it, just the original and the ColecoVision port. This was a strange game and I can see why it wasn't a big hit, I only played it at one game room ever (although it was original, I'll admit).
I had one or two of those back in the day for my Atari 2600
Wow, is that the old Boss joystick?
No, it's a stripped-down version so that's all you get. If you're familiar with one of the many platforms that Spelunky came out on they have that too (Delunky), missing many features, but it's still cool.
Nice to have another score for this! :)
So what do you think of this clone?
How is that "well said" when a bit of it didn't apply to me, due to the things I pointed out that I never said ANYWHERE?
Get cracking, Frankie and GT. You've got work to do, GT having to look up things I never stated on here, along with trying to convince me that odometers have somehow been falseified for decades and work in some different parallel universe that somehow crossed over onto ours for Frankie's job.
Like I said, blame Serious not handling this decimal input .
I'm not blaming Serious for one single second for this, I'm blaming you and Frankie for not understanding how an odometer works. Good grief.
You can't deny that it would be illogical that a score of 2300.3 would have the number one spot over a score of 2300.4.
Where on earth would I "deny" this when--and as I insinuated earlier--I never claimed any such damn thing ANYWHERE?
And don't harrish people because of it.
I'm not, I'm pointing out an error. You and Frankie are wrong.
We're just playing games.
Not when there's an error and you're pushing to let it pass. That's cheaing.
This is not TG after all.
I'm getting pretty fed up with the prejudiced attitudes of people on this thread. I don't know how TG works and have never made any claim that this site compares with it, nor have I made any comparison with the two sites.
I also have chronic fatigue and I don't appreciate wasting my time explaining things I never stated ever. Put an end to it and don't do it again.
That was how I scored it in the first place, and was attacked for doing so,
You were NOT "attacked". You were wrong and me and ZilchSr tried correcting you, then you were the one who attacked us. I'll be awaiting video showing an odometer that either works in some far out manner or isn't working correctly along with debunking that YouTube video (along with several others, but most of them are short, so I didn't botherlinking to them) and proof of tons and tons of cars made over the decades where odometers somehow do not work in exactly the way I've explained to you.
Either way its the same,
No it's not, it's incorrect. The final number on the odomter in this game and odometers made for decades is for a tenth of a mile or kilometer depending on the region (possibly; I don't know if Activision corrected for worldwide releases and I don't really care), NOT a thousand miles/kms.
I can’t accept a scoring system where 215.4 gives the same score as 215.9.
It doesn't and I want proof that many people on here not only believe such terrible math, but have stated in believing so as well. Good luck proving that to me because you won't.
And why does it matter when you've currently got the only score on here anyway on this version? Someone could come along and whallop your score by two thousand additional kms and a decimal isn't going to save you.
2 people is most of us?
Along with all the other scores on 2600 Enduro that scored it correctly? What about them? That's well more than two.
Don’t you guys get that your way of scoring it, that scores from 250.0 to 250.9 all gets the same score? That is stupid.
No,what's "stupid" is where you got that from. I think it was back in elementary school where I learned that, in most cases in general, you round down .1 to .4 down and .5 to .9 up to the nearest tenth. So where are you getting this nonsense from? I've never said that on these forums ANYWHERE, and this discussion has been had before. So who are these "guys" you're talking about? I've never believed, nor stated otherwise in believing in this system of yours that you're claiming we believe in. It's bunk and I've never said otherwise.
What you guys do on your consoles is up to you,
Excuse you? The way an odometer works for the consoles, this version and in REAL LIFE is VERY much the same.
Play the game again. Look very closely at the very last digit. It does NOT go the exact same speed as all the other digits because it's moving at one tenth of a kilometer if that's the way it is set for the ZX version (or a tenth of a mile if your version runs on miles; I don't know, nor care, really). The original 2600 verison moved at one tenth of a mile and REAL odometers ALSO move at the same speed. Go ahead and find either an older car with an odometer like this one or a current one where the last digit (where that digit runs at either a tenth of a kilometer or a tenth of a mile) and record it. I can guarantee you it will run in almost the exact same fashion (I say "almost" since this game isn't exactly accurate, due to indestructable cars and the like, obviously).
Tens, if not literally a hundred million cars have been made with odometers behaving in this exact manner for decades now. Hell, you can buy one for a freaking bicycle, attach it and it'll respond in the exact same manner, it'll just move way slower than a car (*I* had one myself as a kid!). Or were all those tons of millions of cars over all these years with odometers describing how they work just a conspiracy theory?
Also, check out this video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmF8gvtklT8
Notice anything fishy? Yep, it runs the exact same way as odometers have for dozens of years (again, minus not 100% accuracy, like with indestructable cars and all for Enduro). No, that's not fishy at all, it's FACT. That last number is for a tenth of a mile, NOT a thousand. Yep, I said earlier that the last number isn't for an extra mile when I meant a thousand. See? I make mistakes too and I can admit them.
I'm right here, you're wrong, just like all the other scores on the 2600 page aren't, and it's not a matter of doing what we want on "your consoles".
My God, I thought *I* was ignorant about cars, but even I know how a freaking odometer works. Hell, I can record my own odometer and you'll see where it runs the exact same speed/manner if you want.
The last number if for tenth of a mile, NOT an extra thousand.
Still not correct. Just look at every single score that passed here on the original 2600 version of Enduro:
The last digit is a decimal, or 1/10th of a mile, not an *additional* mile.
You need to repost this. Your score is actually 251.1 (or just 251 rounded down), NOT 2511.
I think it's a good game.
For the retro arcade fans, this is a clone of the classic Bosconian.
A wiki write-up I did can be seen here: https://pico-8.fandom.com/wiki/Piconian
Nah, it sucked :D U. S. Games wasn't a very good publisher. Nice to see a score on it though.
Awesome neon sign!
I would say covering the camera flash with your hand helps but maybe you already did that :P
And I'll second the welcome aboard here!
Good luck with the latter!
I like this one too (obviously), as I played it at local arcades back in the day. Nice to have a home version of it now, although the graphics are a tiny bit off. Digital Eclipse usually does a pretty good job with their conversions though.
And thanks for the vote!
Thanks for the vid. Due to getting this on my Vectrex years ago I've been curious about other versions.
Nice to put this up after making this score weeks ago, now that things have gotten back to normal around here, finally (whatever *that* means)!
You can barely see my name tag in the photo (just right click and pick View image), which I tried turning on more lights, using my old digital camera (why the hell didn’t the flash go off like it usually does?!), etc., yet it was still too dark. Oh well. And with this being on many platforms, I used the unwritten rule of taking a pic of the game itself (along with my name tag to match the hard to see one in the photo).
Also, there’s a high score screen, but I waited and waited for several minutes on the attract demo for the score and my initials to appear but it never showed up. I suppose it’s because I don’t have a memory card that it won’t do that, hence why there’s no shot of that.
Cool, nice to see another score on this one/voted!
Hey cool! Nice for someone to dig this one back up after all these years.
You can't edit posts, unfortunately.
Hope you have fun here though!
Well, I meant the game was a bit unique when it came out.
Holy crap, is this machine in a private collection? I'd never heard of it until I played it on the Pinball Arcade app. It's a unique one, that's for sure!
Love your handle/welcome/voted!
As someone on Atari Age once said, maybe if it was called "Floating Space Fortresses" or something it would've been good :D
I agree with it still being a good game though (just calling it "Zaxxon" is a bit of a stretch). I played it for a bit when I bought a 7800 collection from a friend but traded it off for something else. A good game but not good enough for me to want to keep though (plus I'm not a hardcore game collector).
Thanks for the video. I had never realized they hardly improved the graphics at all over the 2600 version.
Weird deal with the video, but thanks for it. Quite a bit from that game I had forgotten about.
Ah, I thought it looked a bit like the enemy/scoring screen of the arcade version of Defender. But it's just a common thing to do though.
Nope, three feet equals a meter.
I like the voices in this game...funny stuff :)
Thanks to all for the votes :)
Cool! I would ask if you have one but by skimming through your tropies screen I don't see any 'trex scores on there.
Score is at upper left; just right click on View image for it so it’ll be more clear.
This game speeds up, then slows down, speeds up, etc. Just a score to begin things with, as you can get well over that. I just don’t have much patience for it. Nice to include a bonus game with it though, even though Big Blue is a good enough game by itself.
The difficulty level of the game was so high you were breathing heavily! (Or you had a fan on :P )
Good going, dumb cowboy :P
Glad you made it out of your face prison...thingy.
That's ok, I'm sure people would figure out "Dusty" is you.
That, plus you can modify your profile and put in what your real-life initials are, then sign in with those on a high score. Either one will do, although, again, some people will still vote no on it even if you had a video (usually the best evidence).
You might want to withdraw it, then put up another score with "DustyNES" on there, which will rairse your legit score. Some people might still vote against it, but unfortunately that's the way it is here.
Yeah, it was one of the most different game names out there! Especially since it's a Galaxian clone, but it had a lot of customizable options though, along with up to four players as well, pretty much unheard of for a 2600 shooter.
HAVE to vote on a vector game with video!
Definitely! It's my all-time favorite system!
Glad you're appreciating too!
Yeah, it was a decent port with several game variations.
Yeah, it's a bug, along with duplicate comments, that sometimes happens. If you post something and then hit Back on your browser that's usually the cause.
And another yes vote here :)
There ya go...voted! And welcome!
Funny sign too.
Ugh, you must be into pain there! Difficulty A AND moving shields; barf!
Welcome to hs though. Voted!
I'd say it does, as that doesn't change the fact that it was played on your Android device.
Will watch the video later and vote on it then :)
Oh God, how long did THAT take? This game can be damn near played forever.
A shame is so expensive to buy a copy.
No kidding. A friend of mine had my Atari 7800/bunch of games years ago and lost this one. A hardcore Atari collector on a site needed one of the very last boxes to finish off his collection, being this one. I told him I had it but it wasn't for sale...until he said he'd give me $80 for just the box/packaging, so I sold it then.
I always loved the sound effects in this one, with your car honking!
Oh man...when game hackers go wild!
Yeah, it's really strange how bad it was, since if they had competent enough programmers it shouldn't have been bad, even if, like the Atari 2600 version, they could only do two screens. I played it at a friend's house down the street back in the day and couldn't believe how bad it was.
That's a shame to hear, as this was a bit of a different cult classic back in the arcades, as there was, and I do believe still nothing else like it to this day.
Too bad I don't have an extra one to spare, I'd send it to you!
This and M. A. D. are probably the best of their bunch.
Really odd clone...
^And neither is the game!
I've seen a video or two of the 7800 port and it looks to be pretty faithful. I'll find out one day once I get it myself eventually :)
Hoo, really gonna zoom in on that one!
No high score table/initials for those that aren't familiar with this one.
Yeah, I borrowed this from a friend in junior high because he thought he was a badass for having a somewhat underground game. Nah...
Oh well, you still died with a smile on your face!
Yeah, you can play that one forever!
Yeah, I know. I remember a quote from their spokesman stating that, when none of their games became hits and that once the crash happened they just "decided to drop it", rather than continue to try to pour more money into the company.
It's the game that never ends!
Yep, they were too late though for the budget market. Interesting, could've been a welcome concept, poor execution.
I still can't understand for the life of me why they don't grant you an extra life. That's really nuts, but U. S. Games didn't really have what it took to compete back then (none of their games were hits).
I know how it works, it's just an either/or thing for me. Next time I go to Game Over they could have an adapter.
I'll keep that in mind, along with the possibility of getting the adapter to play them on my Genesis. I just wasn't impressed with the gaming lot that came with it, but since learned most of the games the previous owner had weren't very good :P
Your name just barely fit in there!
Thanks for putting this up, I totally forgot about this one, as I had my M. System for a whole 15 minutes before I sold it for my Genesis. (Yeah I know, I should've kept it.)
They did all three, and all forgettable (except for the music in Sorcerer)! http://atariage.com/company_page.php?CompanyID=37&SystemID=2600&SystemFilterID=2600
I don't even remember the game's name.
Only games they did was Sorceror, Firefly and one other I don't recall.
Don't know why'd you even make such a "comparison" but thanks for the laugh :)
Got my vote. Imagic died too soon. Damn crash.
His name tag's in the upper right corner and a little hard to see, by the way, but it's there.
I never knew it was an arcade game either until a friend of mine had sent me a bunch of ROMs several years ago for something. I had never seen it in an arcade (it wasn't a smash hit, but should've done better) even though i went to plenty back then.
Oh wow, how much do those adapters cost?
What I thought as well!
Nice surprise to see someone ported this rare game. I'll have to check out the video later.
Interesting take on Centipede!
Welcome to High Score!
The guy sure does move slow, but it does indeed look good! It looks much more like Tutankham as compared to the 2600 version.
It's a clone of the arcade game Battlezone.
Such a cool console
Thanks for the votes and comments.
Hadn't seen that, but I'll see if I can find it.
I love this one! I played it several times at an expo several years ago, along with back in the day.
Yeah, plus a lotta power-ups sometimes don't help you out either if you're not sure what it is they do!
Heh, yeah! He scared me too, first time I heard him at a local movie theatre here with the game in the lobby. Liked it after that though :)
Good going..."coward!" ;)
It was killer in the arcade with the rotary dial, rather than a joystick.
Nice namecard thingy you made! :)
Also, is this going to be a series of entries where your hand gesture dictates how you feel about your score and/or game? :D
Yeah it is! A bit unique though (Lode Runner with firepower!).
Never played this one, but I played Eagle, a copy of Moon Cresta (which this is the exact same except for the refueling bit missing). All games are hard but not that fun, in my opinion, even though it was really different to have waves of different enemies every couple of screens, along with predating the docking for more firepower part that Galaga would make famous (and better, doing it side by side) a year or so later.
Might have to right click and then hit View Image to read om's name, but it is there.
Oh no! That stinks.
Yeah, some might not know and downvote it. Not me, as I've got this one myself.
In case there's people that don't know about why there's two scores, even for one player games you automatically get a computer opponent, so there's no way around it.
(Game) Zombies Ate MikeDietrich's Brain...
Thanks you two! Helps a little mentally as I got up this morning to the heat not working :|
Note that there’s eight treasures total, although the one in the middle is a little hard to see due to the camera flash.
Also my name tag is at bottom left.
"View image", I should've said.
Count ‘em, that’s eight fish.
Also, my name tag is at bottom left, although it’s a little hard to see (right click and choose view photo if you need a better look at it).
Yes indeed! I played Krull at last year's expo as well (along with back in the day).
Ahhh, a good ol' Walkman...I've still got one too. But I play my Supercharger tapes on a boombox :)
Thanks, and welcome to High Score (last month)!
Played at the H. A. A. G. expo yesterday.
I'm in fifth place.
Started the game on level 1, as indicated I made it to level 11. If I had started on a higher level the starting bonus would've made my score higher.
How accurate is this one as compared to the original?
Add your initials as BCK to your profile and I'll vote for this :)
So is this a modern day homebrew?
If I remember correctly (which I might not) the version for the Atari 400/800 computers had similar artwork too but it was also better, gameplay-wise.
Maybe it's just that way in emulation? I rented this back in the day and was surprised how well it controlled, as I thought nothing would compare with the trackball for the arcade original!
Common mistake with this game: your score is actually 95, rounded up from 94.7. If you look at all other score entrants for this game you'll see where others posted accordingly.
Just remove and repost the score as 95.
Plus for those that don't know, there's no way to enter initials, either.
Yeah, Escape from the MindMaster's my favorite! It's amazing that thing ran on a 2600! ('Course the extra power from the Supercharger helps...)
(drools) Nice Supercharger collection!!
That VET-650 sounded very ahead of its time, as I've never heard of a vcr that could record audio and video seperately (but then I'm no vcr expert).
Crazy how much the old players are worth on ebay nowadays. I have a potential museum piece myself, being one of only a handful of machines that got effected by the Y2K bug, as the timer quit working once that hit: you can still record programs to this day (to the best of my knowledge), but only manually. Setting them up to record ahead of time no longer works.
^Heh! That last bit kind of reminds me of a Ken Hoffman column where he used to vcr tape Wheel of Fortune but he'd never see all of an episode, since he'd just shove an eight hour tape into his machine before leaving for work and it'd run out of tape before he could tape the episode because he couldn't program his vcr :D When he got a Tivo though, he said he was able to hook it up in a few minutes and he didn't electrocute himself.
The closest thing that I have to a plug-and-play device now are a couple of Atari Flashbacks (Nos. 6 and 7 I believe)
Geez, I didn't even know they were up to that many.
Sounds like, just as Han Solo did, you had a dog co-pilot :D (Hopefully he's not as big as Chewie either...)
How does this one play? Nice to have a dedicated diagonal joystick, rather than most other ports (or even clones) that don't and the control can be difficult!
Just beware that a lot of them weren't programmed correctly and the games probably won't play real faithfully as compared to the originals.
Also, unless you're a tech guy and can fix controllers and/or you're only going to buy new or unused ones, chances are the joysticks won't be working real well, as Jakks Pacific made many of those Pac-Man units and god knows how many of their controllers were actually good. My Ms. Pac-Man one that I've been submitting scores on lately seems to be fairly good when it was new, but nowadays, nah (hence why I won't be submitting scores to every game, as several of them [Ms. Pac-Man, New Rally-X] are unplayable now), due to age and being pre-owned. My Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man unit, one of the last of those in that series ever (I think they stopped with their follow-up of Retro Arcade Featuring Space Invaders), not only didn't have that great of a joystick to begin with but it was only 4-way. Not being able to do diagonals on Bosconian is a chore and on Xevious it's much more monstrously hard and takes quite a bit of fun out of that classic.
I use a page magnifier for my Vectrex, which helps, but it's one of the cheap ones where the image distorts and some games can look worse than others as far as bluriness and all. I heard there are real good ones where it enlarges stuff but don't distort images but they cost like $20 each.
Might be worth a try if you've got that much to blow.
Yeah, it's a new one! Great that they got it in already, pinball games are expensive.
Nice, how big is their arcade?
Several of the games on this unit are DEFINITELY harder than their arcade counterparts. Try as I might, I never could get to the last lap (I’m pretty sure the timer runs a little faster than usual on this version), yet I’ve been able to beat the version on the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man unit several times.
Don’t know why the flash didn’t go off, as the game unit’s barely visible. Hard to get a pic of the scoreboard with that "rolling" effect showing up that isn’t visible to the naked eye.
Isn't that the Sega Genesis 3, and not the Master System?
Thanks, you two!
Thanks, pinball man!
The last initial looks like it wasn't there because it was in the middle of blinking when I took the photo.
The game unit is below.
A far cry (less than half) of my over 200,000 score from the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man unit, but then this version seems to be a bit more difficult. Also, I just got this at a resale shop yesterday, and when you've got a used, over 10 year old unit...well, that should answer that one ;) Several of the games (Ms. Pac-Man, Rally-X) are almost unplayable due to not very good controller response, to say the least.
Thanks, and welcome to the site! Hope you don't get too down on the no votes though. It's annoying to have videos and to have people still do that.
The Ms. Pac-Man unit is at the bottom.
Hadn't seen one of these machines since back in the 80s!
They weren't bad for back then though.
Just letting some people on here know in case they're not familiar with this cart is that you can't do your initials on the high score screen.
This is a very damn good compilation.
Never knew they did a spiritual sequel to Bosconian!
Hey, repost away, it wasn't my intention to get you to remove the score. If it was, I would've said "this score isn't legit because of ____."
Naw, I know of Germans that have senses of humor :) Just have some fun!
I just meant that as a joke. It's like taking out fruit in Donkey Kong Jr. on the 2600. That was really wrong of them to do, not having anything to do with a high score.
Oof, no fog? Man, cutting out a feature like that which really made the game stood out is wrong!
This looks like a hack of Enduro. If the scoring's the same way--and this is a common error here--your score is actually 831.3, NOT 8,313.
Look at Enduro records/their photos here to see what I mean: http://highscore.com/game/?g=837&enterscore=1
Oh, one or more A. Kidd games were good, this one was crap.
Thanks, that was the best I ever did with this one!
I only got 40 this morning, although that's a decent score too, as I only missed one section throughout the whole game.
Sounds great. About how many machines did they have there?
Your score seems to be 155,722, not 195,722.
Strange game. Looks like Lava Monkey needs to find a better habitat!
There's an entry for the Web/Centipede but by the looks of it it's a different game: http://highscore.com/scores/Web/Centipede/24208
I couldn't quite read the site address that you played the game on from your video, but let's say it's from a site name called "Focal" or something (a word that popped up from your video that I could read). Then I'd make a request under Web for "Centipede (focal.com)" and then repost your video on that once it gets approved and added to the database.
No. If it's a web game it'll be under the Web category.
The yes votes are wrong on this one: Game.com is a CONSOLE, not a web page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game.com
Looks like this is one of the "forgotten" ones, as several of the other Wii Sports entries have several each. There's only one other one here for the time being. I just did my best game ever on this today and thought I'd look up the record on this.
You can also tell it was on B because the pads are regular-, and not the short-sized.
Damn, barely made that last one!
Best I ever did was 97 myself.
Any idea why the video keeps on disappearing?
Well, that's a shame. It'd be good to get more scores from RRMA up there rather than just the ones I have, as I never did one for Asteroids, as I think the score instantly disappears once the game ends, which I figured it'd be better to record a game and then submit it that way but we don't have a decent video capture device. Someone could still grab First trophies for that one before I do.
What you should do is remove this score though, which will raise your Legit rating. Even with good enough evidence such as video there are times when butthead trolls on here stlll vote no on submissions when they're probably legit (just an FYI in case you plan on sticking around here for a while, as this happens from time to time). Then resubmit the video once the Web Space Invaders (freewebarcade) category is approved and put it in the database.
Good, hopefully it'll work then.
Sorry, pasted the wrong url: https://web.archive.org/web/20170810114424/http://www.minionsoft.com:80/wordpress/?page_id=193
Turns out you can still download the game, luckily: http://www.minionsoft.com:80/wordpress/?page_id=193
What would you be playing it on, though? It looks like in the video you're using a Chromebook. If it's the cheapest Chromebook that runs on Chrome then it won't run this game; if it's one of the more expensive ones that duel-boots into Windows 10 it might work but I don't know (I know for a fact it'll work on an XP computer).
No you did NOT beat my score! We did not play the same game; they're totally different. It's very difficult to get 1000, much less 10,000 on the RRMA version of the game.
The guy's web site is gone, either self-deleted or he had a copyright claim that caused his site to be removed (since he ripped sounds directly from some of the games). I'll look around later to see if somewhere his games were archived and send you a link if they were. If they weren't, I'll look on my XP computer to see if I still have RRMA and I can e-mail it to you. You'll see yourself where you won't be able to score anywhere that high as on here, along with the games being totally different!
Then you request it. Put in a request under the Web category for Space Invaders (freewebarcade), as there are several versions of the game online.
This is NOT the RRMA version of Space Invaders. This guy played a web version of Space Invaders, not the RRMA version, which you have to download to play. All you have to do is look at my photo of the game and it's very obvious these two games are not the same, along with looking at this video where this guy, again, played a different web version of the game.
What happened at 2:05?
Just withdraw it, play another good game and post another score.
Another thing to look at is the high score table: I'm currently top at 11,000. If you could actually get several hundred thousand points then there'd be at least one, if not several people with scores that high, which there aren't. My vector gaming forums have hosted the last several Vector War contests and I don't know currently off the top of my head what the highest Berzerk score was but I'm sure it wasn't even 15,000. And the competition gets VERY fierce during those contests.
Welcome to the site though :)
This score isn't valid. This is a bug that causes a gigantic high score glitch. It would literally take all day long to get a score like this. The game becomes unplayable by 13-15,000, hence this score is impossible under normal circumstances.
It wasn't well-received either. Being Tron-like with having mini-games to this one made it a lot better.
No, those games are totally different. The 2600 game wasn't a port of this.
Included the cartridge in the shot (right click on view image to make it larger), as the title screen doesn't keep the score and there's nothing else identifying this game for those that don't know it.
Kind of strange to have this in the database due to this score being the highest you can get on it. It's not that hard.
At top left...
Wow, crazy top 6 scores...
Mantalow on the scoreboard...sounds familiar :D
You cursed it!
The game looks way better in person with the overlay!
Strange game. You don't see too many super fast bombing run games out there. I can see why this wasn't a massive hit when it came out.
Yeah, that's what both of mine take.
It depends on the unit. I've got the different Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man unit and it takes four. I also have some bootleg *other* plug and play system and it takes three.
No, it's totally fine to kill off the computer player! Again, they're like 1000 points per warrior or something.
What I meant is that *most* games are one player only, as per the rules on this site; here someone might not know about the computer player that appears no matter what.
For those that don't know, omar played by the rules: if you choose a one player game, a computer warrior automatically appears. They can be killed off for 1000 points each/they'll be out of the game soon enough.
This must be a slightly different ROM, as the original's only gave you an extra life at 7,000, not 5 and then 10,000.
Yeah the pinball sections on here (3 and 5 balls) are for real, actual physical pinball machines.
I assume you'll just have to request this stuff like on The Pinball Arcade, like they have it here in the database, like Pinball Arcade: Arabian Knights (iOS) as an example.
I forgot what the name of the virtual pinball thingy it was that you played several of these games on, but I figure it should be requested like this: "Virtual Pinball Thing: Firepower". You'd probably need to request a new platform of the Virtual Pinball Thing first, then request the games one by one (although an admin might say differently, so feel free to to correct me on this). Either way it'll take some time to do though, probably.
If the machine is totally virtual then you'd need to somehow add this as a new entry into the database. This category is for REAL pinball machines, not virtual ones, unless what you're saying (I'm not sure what it is) is that you played it on a real pinball table but the backboard or whatever was virtual.
Hey, how is this collection? Is the stuff pretty faithful to the originals?
Nice to see someone bring this back!
This needs to be refiled, as you chose advanced, not low.
For those that don't know (/might be voting no on), you can't do anything about the computer opponnent, as it's always there.
It's very clear when zoomed indeed (most probably know to right click on the photo and then hit View Image, then the plus sign. But for those that don't...).
Neat, so this is a series of miniature standalone games?
Could be for some of us our Monday nights are better than their Friday nights!
Thanks, voted then!
So what's the deal with this one? Is it the actual game, just in a generic cabinet? It looks odd.
That's ok, plus we can't edit our own comments anyhow!
That works, thanks (voted)
Does anyone know? If the answer's yes, then I'll vote the same :)
Is medium the default setting?
Yes vote from me too, as I only just now finished watching the whole vid! (I couldn't get through that ghastly thing in one whole sitting last night!)
God, this game really WAS wrong on all levels! I'd heard about it years ago but never saw it.
That's good, as I think it's underrated. People have chastised it for being simple, but gee, what's the name of the game? BABY Pac-man, not "Sophisticated Adult Pac-Man" or anything like that. I think that's the whole point of it, really.
Played at the PA Pinball Museum.
I just played it a local gaming expo myself back in October :) But then I also played it back in the day at several arcades across the city.
Forgot I had requested this one a while back. A fast, Pac-Man/K. C. Munchkin clone.
One shot is a photo with my i. d. at the bottom left, the other's a screengrab.
Straaaange take on Pong. Nice to see a new Pico game up here though. The guy definitely needs to work on the collision detection a bit though!
Yes, I believe it's a hack (note the very similar graphics) of Ms. Pac-Man.
What was wrong with it, no diagonals? That's what they left out/used a four-way joystick on the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man plug and play system. They also made your shots steerable, which was also wrong/not on the original. I still liked that port ok though.
Video will be reuploaded soon?
You're welcome! Voted on the legit one :)
Bad typing on my part, sorry: "The ending three for tenths of a mile" should read "The ending three is for tenths of a mile".
Look at all the other score submission photos for this game. The ending three for tenths of a mile, NOT an extra digit of the score itself.
Your score is actually 418, not 4183.
What a scene that'd make too, eh?
Bad guy #1 (standing outside door): I think he went in here.
Bad guy #2: Are you stupid? Is your hood on too tight?
Bad guy #1: Uh, no?
Bad guy #2: Are you asking me or telling me?
Bad guy #1: Telling you?
Bad guy #2: You're not SURE? Well, I think that answers that. Meantime, let's just hang out around here until that guy comes back.
All other bad guys: Good idea!
(They stand around.)
Dudes be clueless at about 1:33!
Was this played on a MAME or an actual Return of the Invaders cab?
I'd check it out. What the deal is, you've got five castles, four of which are themed (flame castle, which burns your health away, an ice castle, which you slide around, etc.). There are traps everywhere, which stepping on them will unlock more and more of each floor until you can reach the last floor (eventually) and face a dragon boss. The passwords to continue are damn ridiculously long though but there are shops to buy upgraded stuff with.
If you're able to beat the final castle there's a choice of two endings but they're rather disappointing. Oh well, the music kicks ass though :)
Nuts, should've replied to Baz, as derek probably already knew all that...oh well! :P
Yeah, not only is it great, but it also has some kind of battle mode of some sort and a Quest mode too. You can also get four players if you have a four player adapter.
Is this a hack of Ms. Pac-Man or something? Because this isn't the port of Pac-Man that Atari released back in the day; if you look at everyone else's photos and/or videos for the Pac-Man score submission for Atari 2600 emulated, you'll see you're trying to submit a score for a totally different game and not the one in this database.
Damn, pretty close (voted)...
Wow, racked up some nice bonuses on the first level!
Too bad right when you got the extra at 20,000 you lost it! That always sucks.
No, it's functional, just plug it in and play! ('B' is used as the 2600 controller button.)
Yeah, it's a tough one! A pretty intense game. Imagine how creepy it'd look on a much updated tablet or something with way better graphics too! (Like slime on the walls or something.)
My name tag is a little hard to see in the score pic but is easier to see/you can tell it’s the same one in the second. (Succumbed to peer pressure in regards to the unwritten rule of having a photo of your name badge with the console ;) )
Top left is my score, which, due to the win screen, is obviously the highest you can get in this game. Top right number is how much health I had left at the end.
Hopefully that won't happen. Playing a game on an incorrect listing has happened before with new members. Unless he spent hours and hours playing until he made that score it shoudln't be a big deal.
Found the game, so this was played/filed under the incorrect name: http://atariage.com/software_page.php?SoftwareLabelID=1749
Also, you may have played this on a multi-cart rather than just the game itself.
"Rad Action Pak" is a pirate cart, I do believe. So he'd have to play it either under the listing of something like "Rad Action Pak: Frostbite" or "Frostbite (Rad Action Pak)", neither of which is in the database. So that leaves to removing this score entirely and requesting one of those two, unless he has the actual Frostbite cart, which he CAN submit a score for that, of course.
Not sure exactly. Somewhat of an explanation is offered on the original/MAME score here:
'A very large bonus of 10,000 is given for getting through 4 waves and refueling by using exactly 2 shots more than the minimum needed.'
So you must use exactly the number of shoot of all Aliens in the 4 waves + 2 misses.
But then a follow-up post stated this:
Looking at the video, I miss more than 2 times. So there must be some other system behind it aswell. Weird????
Good grief, don't know why you're pointing that out from over a year ago when I've since learned that.
Ouch. No escape tunnels? Crazy.
Browser didn't add to the ambience of this video :P
Strange game. I assume it's one of those types of games that *looks* cool but is actually a piece of crap to play?
But do you need to eat Bertha's Mussels?
Need to upload your video for Breakers, this one is for your Toki score.
Good going, supreme noser :)
Right, it's a shark.
Heh, thanks! Especially since I hadn't played it in years. I'm pretty much where I left off with that.
Probably need to right click on photo, then click on View to see the pic better, as I wanted to get as much as the game bezel and marquee in (yes, it’s obviously Super Pac-Man due to him wearing the cape, plus it was the only Pac-Man at the time that added a button to the controls and where you could enter your initials to the high scores).
Ha, forgot a pattern and only got about half the score I usually do (my score on the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man plug and play system is nearly twice this if I remember correctly, and I can get 250,000 on a really good game). Remembered what the deal was later (of course!).
If you look real closely you can see the Commando logo at the left (right click on photo, then click on View to see it better) and part of the game’s artwork on the right.
You can see part of the Blasteroids control panel in the pic, along with some game on the left (Defender?) and Commando on the right. Right click on photo and then click on View to see it better.
Continuances were NOT used.
You're welcome! Voted on the new one :)
Need to resubmit this: final score is 30,710.
How much are those? Be nice to be able to play games that use two buttons again.
Holy obvious space ripoff Batman!
That's funny. I didn't know anyone had the nerve to make this clone.
Yeah, just 10 of them were made, I think.
^Well, good going there! :P
Voted anyway, since I'm familiar with this bizarre table.
Yeah, I found an Atari Anniversary cd at a resale shop for only $2 several months ago and I never even bothered to learn the keyboard controls (too (*#! many!) with the included Battlezone on it (although it does have options for mouse control, which I'm going to check out).
I've seen it in some mail order catalogs too, Amazon...
Thanks, voted then.
I don't understand how you died at about 2:58...
I always liked this one. Last played several games of it at a gaming expo about five years ago :)
Nuts, that meant to be "shame on you". Oh well, you still seem to have gotten the joke through my typo.
Same on you for dooming Atlantis...
Looks like you accidentally put in the wrong photo as the second pic. Nice to see the Sega stuff though :)
Well, it's a neat-looking logo at least...
Thanks/voted then :)
What, it just froze up?
It's not. It's crap and no fun to play.
Video deleted. Score passed over a year ago.
DAMN those are long stages!
Wow, I'm surprised an actual physical game of that still exists somewhere!
That was my dont F**k with me playing pinball look.
This is an awesome machine
Very tough Space Invaders clone!
What's the other game cart with the 2001 shot as the cover?
I like this game! Played it a couple of times at an expo several years ago. You don't seem to share the same enthusiasm as mine with your last photo though ;)
Um, pardon the pun ("crap").
^Holy crap, I'd forgotten about that one!
No initials/high score table on this one, guys. (voted)
I always enjoyed this illegal hack in the arcade :)
Very strange home brew game... Awesome title screen and music though.
My very exact thoughts!
How'd you die at the end?
NOT a game that you'd exactly brag to your friends that you played :P
I have a very similar Atari case for games, systems and the like myself :)
I'll get you another one once I watch all of the video :) I just skipped to the end to see if it was how I thought it was on the original arcade game, which it is.
You mean how do you kill the boss? You have to shoot all the bumps on him; there was one on the right and two on the left at the end of the video. You were mostly shooting his chin, which doesn't have any effect.
Love your mini MAME cab :)
First 2 waves I saved the bottom left ship last for a 1,000 point bonus at each level.
That's definitely an accomplishment! I do the same on a Vectrex clone that I have. Really does wonders for the score :) This one is harder though, since your shots move way faster.
Wow, is this a good port?
How'd you suddenly die at the end?
Did you take the photo at the wrong time? No scores, nor initials seem to match.
Yes, the memory does fade over time! I was a whiz at Tron back in the day with my high score being 999,959 (no, I couldn't get 999,999 because I was on the Grid Bug screen, which they're all worth 50 points each and I could've turned it over if I shot one more!). I last played it several years ago at a couple local game expos, forgot my Light Cycle patterns and could only get 100,000!
That's good. I'd never seen one of those myself. Glad it helps :)
Yeah I wasn't sure what that was. Looked like the optical illusion thing that would spin around to me.
I don't see how you can point farm in Mappy.
What I did when I had this cart is that I just put the two controllers together on a piece of wood held in between several nails.
Looked like crap but it did the job.
I see you have that spinner optical illusion headband thingy that hypnotizes people into doing things. (votes yes)
Wow, you don't see Atari pinball games very often!
Right, the "game where they drop flower pots" is Crackpots.
Ha, the 4 Fun in 1's a hilarious piece of crap, ain't it?
^Just leave the controls as is and jump them at your regular speed, don't try to speed up or slow down.
It works that way on the arcade version, at least. I assume it should on this port too.
I didn't know bowling had cheerleaders :)
Hey, he's just so leet at it he can play it upside-down! And/or sideways!
Well I'm glad you're (literally) above average with this game ;)
I'm going to guess it's a Centipede clone?
But did you play the nerd? :P
^No, there's none whatsoever with this game.
Ok, it's back up...for anyone wanting more information: http://videogame-database.wikia.com/wiki/ScrambleRND
One pic's a screengrab, the other's a photo with my name tag at the bottom. The game can be downloaded here: https://devdef.blogspot.nl/p/my-pc-games.html
Pretty clever! A Scramble remake but with Atari 2600-like graphics! And the terrain is slightly random.
Humph, I *was* going to do a link to a wiki page I wrote on it, but Wikia seems to be down now Maybe later...
One shot’s a screengrab, the other’s a photo with my name tag at center bottom included.
This is from the unlocked game of Neon Invasion Earth. You have to beat all 100 levels before this game is unlocked. The ending stats screen is different between the two games.
The game(s) can be downloaded from here: http://tardis.dk/wordpress/?page_id=1523
Yeah, you probably mean the top area of the playfield by the bumper and two flippers. You can keep the ball alive there for quite some time.
"Vanguard" my ass! This one should've been called "Xevious 2", as that would've been closer.
Yeah, it didn't do real well in the arcades. There wasn't much to improve on with the original Zaxxon, and adding the speed element didn't help any!
Well it'd be the highest score so far to date either way, so... :)
Just as long as they avoid the skulls and the black foals...
I thought it was a cross between a N. Jersey and a bad Arnold Schartzenegger (sp?) impersonation. All he needed was a gravel-like voice! I was going, "did they even TRY?"
H. score run starts at about 6:50, by the way.
This was my first time on this website and I didn't really understand the difference.
Even though they might play the same to you, *technically* they're totally different: on MAME, you're playing the original ROM of the game, but with plug and play systems, they're usually reprogrammed (the plug and play that I have it on [Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man] was done by Digital Eclipse).
That, or maybe it's from a plug and play system. If it's from one of those two, then yeah, it needs to be resubmitted.
I don't understand how you lost your last life...
You have to have the pad for that that came with the game originally. It brings up a grid/starmap or something and you have to warp to sectors to destroy enemy ships before they take out a starbase or something.
The pad also arms your shields and all too, I believe.
You can't really prove that with photos. And even a video isn't enough evidence for some people, just as a warning. So if you graduate to video evidence don't take it too hard if you get one or more no votes on those.
At first I had thought you had screwed up and didn't even take a picture of the right cart, as I couldn't even find it at first!
much like scramble---not nearly as good tho
Most hacks/bootlegs aren't...
Straaaaaange...Scramble or Super Cobra hack, I take it?
Video deleted. Score passed with 100% over a year ago.
Yeah, Frenzy was cool, it should've done better (only saw it at one or two arcades ever back in the day).
Looks like you could place second, at least.
Voted this time :)
You need to resubmit this one: your final score was actually 34,300.
You need to stop being so paranoid that either your mom is about to catch you playing yet another one of those infernal games and/or that your girlfriend's about to find out you drank the last beer again ;)
Paddle, actually, but yeah...
You need to resubmit this one. Your score was 9420.
I take it that's the Zellers version?
Video is private.
Probably doesn't help that your guy barely moves any faster than a zombie...
Such a bizarre port of the game...
It's more fun with at least one additional player(s) though!
Resubmit your score; you clearly got 34,000, NOT 43,000.
I get it, videos honestly the way to go. I already beat this score just waiting for it to upload to YouTube haha. Hopefully that's enough
Although not real clear, it was enough for me to vote on it :)
and im not shunned like the Bundy's in their own neighborhood lol.
I can get 130's all day,
Yeah, when I got pissed off at people for a while for giving me no votes, I said that I didn't cheat and also stated that I'm pretty consistent with most games (some you can't, like Royal 21 for the Vectrex, which is totally random/has a lot to do with luck, along with Defender, a notoriously hard game to most) in that I could recreate most of my high scores in general. So I hope this doesn't put you off this site and I hope to vote on some of your scores in the future :)
Haha whoaaaaaaa Bundyyyyyyyy!
Probably someone voting since they didn't have any video proof it was played on A. I don't know that so I'm not going to vote (nothing personal; there's many games I've yet to submit proof on since I don't have a good video camera myself when I can't prove I played on higher levels).
Nice Al Bundy av though :)
Thanks to Derek for telling me about the captured ship to have two shooters.
That's what Galaga's most famous for!!
People are especially touchy with MAME scores, unfortunately. I have this ROM myself, so you got a yes vote from me, at least :)
No way to leave initials on this game everybody, by the way.
I also loved the "beep beep" sound when you went into overdrive from back in the day :)
Well, *I* gave him a yes vote...pthpthpthpth
(forgets I'm not a troll voting no on everything)
Whups, nothing to see here...
Video removed. Game passed at 96% (but it should've been 100 since I didn't cheat).
Video removed. Score passed at 100% over a year ago.
Video removed. Game passed with 100% over a year ago.
One pic's a screengrab, the other a shot of the monitor with my name badge.
Fun, simple little shooter.
Yeah, low scores are pretty nonsense to vote against. But people could change the settings to an easier game, thus making their score higher and no one would know.
How the hell did you get a copy of this game?!
Might want to add your initials to your profile.
Can't blame you, the game's too easy if you've ever played Gauntlet. I paid $30 for it back in the day and was bored by the second game of it!
You should've used some of those smart bombs!!
The game indeed rolls over at a million.
Wow, someone did a port of this?! How is it, is it true to the original?
Might want to make sure to include the unit in a pic the next time around. Voted yes though :)
Well, those of us who have played that game should remember the control panel :)
The way the drinks work is that you have to press the joystick against it for several seconds before you can consume it all. Then you turn into a giant mouth and most of the creatures will run into it and give you a big time bonus.
Same pics for the "rooms cleared" score.
One pic's a screengrab, the other a photo with my name badge on it.
Damn, six rooms cleared this time!
One shot's a screengrab, the other a photo with my name badge on it.
Your video is for Golden Axe, not Gondomania.
Bah ha ha, this piece of junk game :P I actually know someone in town that owns it; don't know why though...
Straaaange bootleg, having the pie factory first, then that very long ladder at right on the second screen!
You might want to add your initials to your profile when you enter them on a high score table on a game. That way they'll match, in case you can't do a video.
Video deleted. Score passed with 96% (although it should've been 100 since I didn't cheat) over a year ago.
if it does get split up into multiple charts I won't complain though! & I'm happy to add specific charts if requested. :) And I agree that maybe these need a little better clarification.
If we do want call this [any level start accepted] then for consistency's sake we should probably request the same for others like Tempest, Blaster, etc..
Of COURSE it should be added to Tempest! That's what I've thought all along! And I think I've stated that on submitted scores too, then never heard back, so I didn't vote on them, which is why I won't be voting on this score either because I don't believe it follows the rules. Blaster I haven't played a game of since the 1990s so I don't recall. I've seen videos of it on here before but I'm pretty sure people just started at the beginning so that didn't stick to my mind that it had various starting levels.
bear in mind also, at higher skill levels, these starting-bonuses become rather insignificant. this chart is really just getting started with relatively small scores if you compare it to the TG scoreboard.
I don't "compare" the two sites because they're not much alike.
There gets to be a kind of fuzzy grey area between which games need to be split up into separate categories & a few games on this site may not be set up the best way.
I don't see where there's a "grey area" where there's a 30,000 point bonus added to liberating three planets (which DB clearly did in the video) and there's ZERO bonus for playing for starting at level one, like I assume the other two record holders on here did (BarryBlasso did). That's an unfair advantage, unless this is one of those types of entries that states something like "all tactics accepted" or whatever (which in this case would be something like "any start level accepted").
I didn't say "shouldn't". There needs to be a seperate entry for this game, as there are many games on this database that state "level __ start". This needs to be specified as well, especially since I can't speak for Larquey, since he never does videos, but BarryBloso's is still up and he started on level 1 just like the rules state. You didn't, thus it is not the same game/in the correct category.
This score needs to be removed. You didn't start the game on the default settings, you started on level 4.
I can't believe how many times you cheated death at about the :52 mark :)
A couple of things here: one, in the second picture (which is a flat-out picture of my monitor, the first one was a screencap), you can barely make out my badge with my name on it at the bottom (why the camera flash wouldn't go off is beyond me). The pic looks a little different because the "you lose" wording flashes on and off, hence why I caught it and that area looks blank in the photo.
Sigh...nicely set up, but it never seems to get any harder. I went through all the levels until the music started repeating, then just quit :\
Glad I could help :D
Thanks for the info.
So why'd you just quit, Deweirdo?
Heh, yeah, I remember it was :)
One shot's a screengrab, the other's a photo with my name badge at the bottom.
Even though I realize I can use old photos, as I got five rooms cleared in the gold gathered category, I'm not much for doing that, even though I cleared one more room than with this game I had earlier tonight. However, that's still on par with getting far in this game though.
One shot's a screengrab, the other a photo with my name at the bottom.
Straaaaaange game, seems to be unfinished. You just keep on falling down with platforms repeating themselves, along with constantly scrolling messages asking for help and saying to protect the children, yet where the hell are they?
One shot's a screengrab, the other's a photo with my name badge, although I don't know why it came out blurry again.
This is a tough one!
One pic's a screengrab, the other's a photo with my name badge, although that came out a little blurry.
Too bad there's no sound with this one. Guess you have to make your own while playing. Wakka wakka wakka...
One pic is a screengrab, the other a photo with my name on it.
Ugh, I never would've played this again if I didn't find an entry for it here on the site. I just quit to see if anything happened at 10,000 points/level 10 was passed but nothing did. That was on my first ship and it never gets any harder. I would say a wiki page I wrote on it can be seen here,
but then, there's not really much of anything that differs it from a million other Invaders clones.
One pic is a screen grab, the other has my name on its badge at the bottom. Fitting, considering the latter has Pac-Man monsters on it, and here you seem to be controlling a giant Pac-Man :)
Beware! If you suffer seizures, you might want to skip this! Gets very blinding at this stage!
Hey, that's great! Do let me in on it once it goes up. Yes, I'm having quite a bit of fun with the P-8 indeed :)
A few things here: one, I realize the video quality isn't that good, but I was showinghow I chose the default three lives version, and not the seven lives one. There is also no way to enter initials, so I took a photo with my name on my I. D., along with a screen capture.
And last but certainly not least, this is a VERY GOOD Wizard of Wor clone! You can play it here: http://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=2867
Yeah I was confused about it too.
you're right there was a door there!
I'm up to 90 now :)
Great, glad that was figured out :)
No, I think you started at the beginning, since you have a score of 3975 at :36.
Yeah, I'd look for a faint door when you get to a supposed place where you can't go anywhere else, then arrow key down (I think it is, but then, the instructions are right there on the page) when standing in it to take you to the next room.
Someone posted a screenshot on its page just the other day about removing that chunk, then just as quickly deleted it when they realized their mistake.
I've never gotten to a point where I couldn't continue in that game, ever.
also i keep finding a place where it's impossible to go on & I must refresh the page.
Are you sure there's no door to enter, which then takes you to another room?
I've never had the game crash but I've gotten stuck briefly a couple of times.
Already beat Sixx so far :)
Lemme know what you think! Play it here: http://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=3072
It doesn't seem like it. You and enemies definitely have hit points, at least. And if you're lucky you can gain several items, which helps. I just played a game about half an hour ago where I got everything (a lance or something, helmet, armor, shield) and all of that lasted me for quite a while.
The main thing is clearing rooms, which the most I ever cleared is on this posted game (5). Well, I cleared 4 with that last game. I lost everything and then faced some really strong enemies. Lesser enemies only deal one or two points of damage; well, the last thing I fought took one hit and wiped out 6 points right then and there. It was game over not long afterwards, especially since I was back to my crappy original sword (think your "crappy little pistol" on Doom vs. anything else you get in that game for comparison!).
In this one you have to clear out rooms. These dungeons are also randomized, although there are chunks that repeat, you just don't know what order they're going to be in until you start playing. You just have to kill creatures and collect their gold. Occasionally you'll find items (helmet, better weapon, armor) which help in case you screw up a jump and land on a spike (what looks like fire). If you have an item, you won't lose any health (which can be replinished by collecting what looks like silver pieces after you kill something).
This game's pretty cool too :) Hence why I've avoided it the last couple of days, due to being addicting! Maybe I'll get back to it today though.
Pac-Man's younger, much uglier, and far less successful brother...
I would threaten to kick your ass over bringing this really interesting concept of the PICO-8 to my attention and taking a bit of my time with it, except that I'm having quite a bit of fun with it!
One photo has my name at bottom left, the other is a screen capture.
WOW what a game! Kept on clearing rooms, picking up a lot of shields, then got in one last nasty fight with several warriors/lizard people/something that took a ton of hits each, I was driving them back, killing one here and there...then with one last hit doing a big five points of damage, down I went for good...
Wow, it looks like Sega ripped off the look of this when they made Kolibri several years later for their 32X!
Does a game automatically start on level 7 or should there be an entry here for "Zeppelin (level 7 start)"?
Whups, you didn't delete it, it's just on private.
Video resubmit? "Ah, I found video!"
Yeah, unless you regularly flush money down the toilet, I'd stay away from various ridiculous places I've seen them for sale for like $60 or more, which is outrageous. I bought mine brand new for $18.
That was messed up, I ate the power pellet and it didn't affect that ghost.
That happens, along with the maze disappearing at times too.
I want that Retro Arcade because of Dig Dug, but I doubt I'll find it at a thrift store like I did this one and the other plug n play I have.
Just beware of the controls, as the joystick isn't that good and you'll be lucky if it even works period. The twisty part of the joystick for Pole Position went out in less than three months of my first one, which I was able to exchange it due to it being under warranty. The second one lasted for a lot longer than that before going out, but out it is. No more P. Position for me :|
Some pretty funny sound effects coming from you at times, you son of a...
Thanks for the video. Since I have the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man unit, I have a bit of an interest for these.
Video removed. The score passed with 92% (although it should've been 100% since it was 100% legit to begin with) a year ago.
Your dog, at times, is inpatiently waiting his turn :P
One thing you can do in the future when you play a game like this is to open up a tab on your home page here in the background and then take a screenshot of both the MAME score and your name/user account will be in the photo as well.
Do you mean it's your scores you want deleted? There's a "remove score" button or something like that on your score page; that'll do it.
This is for your Caveman Ninja score, not Centipede.
Please add the Centipede photo.
How does the collision detection work? Seems at times you pass through the subs, at others you don't?
Oh, thanks...didn't catch that one :)
I don't understand how the game ended...?
Video deleted. Score passed with 96% over a year ago.
Heh! (Imagines armor clanking x 7-13...yeah, that'd do it :P )
I'd only watched the first 10 minutes of the video at the time. Now I'd say that the pteriodactyls are even worse.
Pretty interesting. Is it a random with the maze(s) every time?
And quit waking up those man-eating dragons!
Video deleted. Score passed with 100% a year ago.
Wow, who ported this piece of junk? I'm surprised anyone did!
Not surprising was to see the flannel boob-attackers again during the second wave.
Repost this one. The score's 809, for one thing, not 8,000. The last digit is for tenths of a mile, so your score is 809.7, or just rounded down to 809.
Wow, can't do a damn thing right tonight: HERE'S the link from the original comment fixed:
Um, the webcam was used and sent through the mail...yeah, that makes more sense...
The video quality isn’t that great, but I figured it was better than just a photo, plus it was used and sent through the mail (thanks to thedarkbanshee for it though).
As I explain in the video, for those that don’t know, the Chromebook (mostly sold as a web browser) has some games that are exclusive to it, but this isn’t one of them, so this game was played under the right category (web game rather than Chrome). The game can be played here: http://http://www.fzero.co.uk/invaders/
It’s the same game, and note the “Space Invaders Redux” at Kongregate is NOT the same.
I just played it on my Chromebook because it runs monstrously slow on the 11 year old family computer; on my Chromebook it plays fine.
Holy crap @ the setup!! Nice.
Sometimes you do end up choking. That's happened with myself as well with this game.
Great, just as long as you kept your drink off the machine :P
Wrong pic. That's from Battle Garegga.
Guess we won't be getting the Mark seal of approval then...
Thanks, I'll watch the rest of the vid (amazing graphics!!) and vote :)
Bit confused over this one: your video reads "MAME", yet this is under Neo Geo Emulated. Or does that count for either category? Because if I recall correctly with what little I know about the Neo Geo home system is that it had the same amount of power as its arcade counterparts (hence the severely high price tags on the games and all). So perhaps this is filed under the correct category after all.
No initials/high score table on this one guys, if I remember correctly ;)
Good, voted :)
Is video private or something? I have to sign in to view it.
Yep. As I had stated a while back, when someone screws up like that, the no vote should be rescinded when someone is wrong, along with possibly giving the person who did that a temporary ban of a day or two from voting.
Voted, bensweeneyongalaxian :)
How come you don't use those E stations? It would've saved you two lives, one at the very beginning and the second one at the end.
As long as you were a "best baby", I guess it doesn't really matter :P
Just as long as the game is the exact same as the 2600 original, I suppose. Because many games get changed on these re-releases/updates/whatever.
22, 14, 14, etc, lol22, THEN the saucer, lol.
It depends on how you look at it. The way I do and the secret's always been presented is to hit the U. F. O. on the 23rd, then the 15th shot after that to score 300 points each time.
Yeah, that's it, you meant to do that!
That's because it's not: it's 23, 15 15.
Score run starts at 4:45
I'll admit I don't know much about the ZX, but I was really surprised that not only could it do voices, but also integrate the voices of a talk show discussing drinking! A very strange addition to a game if I ever heard one.
Bummer, no sound?
No point in going through intermissions after you've seen them a couple of times anyway. Plus it just wastes time.
Have you reposted the video?
You should've popped some pills :P
(points) Silly man!
That's 582.7, actually.
You'd have to see about getting this changed since it's on the arcade setting. Because there are settings for big, strange, and mini mazes.
Video deleted. Game passed with 96% legitimacy (although it should've been 100% since I didn't cheat) over a year ago.
You can't say for sure either way. I've hardly ever had any scores pass at less than 96%, meaning only one no vote there. One of them was Mine Storm for the Vectrex, with people being ignorant as to not knowing that there's several versions of the game out there that go past the 13th level, so they thought that wasn't legit when it definitely was. That one actually got three or something.
I doubt it. This person's been around before Kuku Kube appeared, or at least before I heard of it.
Nope. I have seven scores up now and it was looking like I was in the clear until either yesterday or the day before, now all of them have a no vote each.
Get a life, trolling douchebag. Makes me wonder how great a player they are.
Probably won't be for whoever it is that is giving no votes. Not your fault if they're unhappy with life, or whatever their "problem" is.
Ha, clever :)
Cool, lemme know what you think! Some of his new levels though...ugh, baldness may be a result due to pulling your hair out!
Pretty damn cool remake of Thrust, with many extra levels. The game can be downloaded here:
The "Sergeant" and "Rookie" before my score entries are my rankings.
Just click on Remove This Score at upper left.
Wait, this is just messed up anyway: you've got the exact same score for Wizard of Oz for three and now five balls for this. One of these scores you didn't make and it'll have to go.
Is this some sub-game on Wizard of Oz called "Wizard"?
Heh, good catch, I didn't think of that :)
I know the second pic’s hard to see, as they automatically come out that size when you do a screengrab of them (luckily for some reason High Score blew up the first one). Right click and view pic for a better view; Space Invader’s the very first one on the left. You have to quickly do a screenshot or else your score will disappear, as there’s no high score screen/save. RRMA is an arcade simulation where all machines display graphics that are 32 x 32 pixels across :) You can read about it here and there’s a link to download the game at the bottom of the article: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/RRMA
I know the second pic’s hard to see, as they automatically come out that size when you do a screengrab of them (luckily for some reason High Score blew up the first one). Right click and view pic for a better view; Scramble’s the fourth game from the left. You have to quickly do a screenshot or else your score will disappear, as there’s no high score screen/save. Also, I'd like to see one of the hotshots on here take a crack on this, as the first two sectors are pretty long. I got a bit far on the second area but don't know if the meteor shower actually does show up next. Anyone want to find out?
Whups, no "game over" words actually...
I know the second pic’s hard to see, as they automatically come out that size when you do a screengrab of them (luckily for some reason High Score blew up the first one). Right click and view pic for a better view; Centipede’s the third game from the right (note the game over screen). You really need a video recorder for this game though, since the moment your game ends your score rolls over to zero. So my final score (whatever the hell it was) was actually a little higher than this. RRMA is an arcade where all machines display graphics that are 32 x 32 pixels across :) You can read about it here and there’s a link to download the game at the bottom of the article: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/RRMA
I know the second pic’s hard to see, as they automatically come out that size when you do a screengrab of them (luckily for some reason High Score blew up the first one). Right click and view pic for a better view; PacMan’s the third game from the left. You usually have to quickly do a screenshot or else your score will disappear, as there’s no high score screen/save, although in this case this is the highest score you can get on this game and then it crashes after only clearing two screens. RRMA is an arcade where all machines display graphics that are 32 x 32 pixels across :) You can read about it here and there’s a link to download the game at the bottom of the article: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/RRMA
(Awaits Sixx to show up :) )
I know the second pic’s hard to see, as they automatically come out that size when you do a screengrab of them (luckily for some reason High Score blew up the first one). Right click and view pic for a better view; Frogger’s the fifth game on the right (note the game over screen). You have to quickly do a screenshot or else your score will disappear, as there’s no high score screen/save. RRMA is an arcade where all machines display graphics that are 32 x 32 pixels across :) You can read about it here and there’s a link to download the game at the bottom of the article: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/RRMA
First off, I know the second pic’s hard to see, as they automatically come out that size when you do a screengrab of them (luckily for some reason High Score blew up the first one?). Right click and view pic for a better view; Arkanoid’s the second to the last one on the right. You have to quickly do a screenshot or else your score will disappear, as there’s no high score screen/save.
Anyway, this is pretty cute; it’s an arcade where all machines display graphics that are 32 x 32 pixels across :) You can read about it here and there’s a link to download the game at the bottom of the article: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/RRMA
Hey, were there more games than these/do you recall what they were/how many there are approximately? Because with there being info on this theatre chain online, I can add this to my Arcade preservation wiki :)
Cool. Have you played the "vector" remake? :)
Video removed. Score passed at 96% legitimacy over a year ago.
Oh look, Xevious 2!
A bit of a different game, sorta like Dig Dug meets Boulder Dash. I played it at a local arcade back in the day.
That's good. Yeah, the "twisty" part of my joystick bit the dust on my Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man unit, unfortunately :|
Cool, does the joystick twist around on that version too for Pole Position?
No problem, I voted on your new score!
He could be busy or asleep right now. Just as long as he reposts at some point I'll give him a vote.
It's by odometer. And you have a certain amount of time to pass 200-300 cars per day. If you look at the scores here:
you'll see where they entered their kilometers correctly. Oyama's score IS over 1000, filling up all digits on the odometer. Ec's is only 103.
You need to refile this one. Your score is 103.2 (or just 103), not 1032.
Kind of an interesting one, like Armor Attack on foot...
"Just raising the difficulty level and speeding the game up" is what I should've said.
Also, right click and chose View photo on either one will bring you up to a larger, easier to read version.
With the photo of the monitor, my name tag’s at the bottom center.
Meh. I’m a bit of a fan of the guy who redid this, what with his remake of the Atari Star Wars vector game, Phoenix and RRMA (clever redoing of an arcade with sounds from original games but only making them 64 x 64 pixels wide!) but he dropped the ball on this one. Just raising the difficulty level and speed up doesn’t do this remake any favors.
The game can be downloaded here: http://www.minionsoft.com/wordpress/?page_id=92
The wiki page I did for it is here,
although if you’re familiar with Galaxian, there won’t be much to surprise you.
Oh ok, that's what it was titled here in the States.
No "Midway Arcade's Greatest Hits" was released for the Genesis. This is from the Williams' Arcade's Greatest Hits, unless this is a hack you're playing. I have the cart myself and that's what it says.
Try 11:02 for the run, actually.
Yeah, it's not that great a table.
Heh, see several other familiar names on your pic :)
Score run starts at 3:17
It's a nice tune, but I can see where it'd get to be much, since after only hearing it for six minutes (I couldn't watch the entire video the first time around) it was going through my head for about two hours! :P
Thanks for putting this up; I wondered what the original was like, as I've played a remake of it from like 10 years ago or something. Almost makes me want to play it again...ALMOST. Your guy moves so DAMN slow it's not even funny.
this game is rather unfair when it suddenly smears you.
Yeah, I gathered that by watching the video. But then U. S. Games didn't really know what they were doing. None of their games were a hit and they didn't last long.
Ever play Ram It? Same concept, but way better, especially when playing game 3. At least you have actual levels, rather than just the one level that goes on until it's too fast for you to get any further!
Oh look, a clown playing Clowns ;)
High score run starts at 2:35 ;)
Video removed. Score passed with 100% over a year ago.
Video removed. Score passed with 100% over a year ago.
Wow, you can't get much more politically incorrect than this!
Same scenario, doesn't play anything like Bubbles though.
Thanks for the video. I heard this game was weird!
See response to another post of yours if you hadn't already.
Unfortunately no. Bad luck reared its ugly head again at the last moment. Gettin' old...
Nuts, the bonus rounds were cut out?
That and/or flicker isn't visible to the naked eye, of course :)
Pity they come not so cheap.
Or even in a plentiful amount, as I live in the fourth largest city in my country with tons of resale shops and I've never seen one ever.
In 1981/82 I went in a TV shop, actually just one guy, to buy a Vectrex but came back with a spectrum 16k.
Oh well, those are interesting too :)
Video deleted. Game passed with 100% over a year ago.
There are several versions of this game, the biggest differences being between versions 1.1 and 1.2, which really affects your score.
In the brief video, after showing my score for several seconds, I pressed reset on my Vectrex, which took me to the title screen, showing I had uploaded a score for the correct version (being 1.2).
Don't you love riding with your tank over those poor soldiers :)
Well, it might help make up for those slo-mo bullets you're firing...
Their eating habits are like The Simpsons'...
You need to start putting your name/initials on a piece of paper and include them in your screenshots.
Other than that, welcome aboard.
I'll definitely vote for that one :)
Well, if you start with dual ships you only have one in reserve instead of two, so it kinda seems more like a choice than advantage, right?
They're two different game modes.
Seems to me that this should have separate categories for single and dual ships.
You're going to get fried flying that close
Maybe the line of "I got a little cooked, but I'm ok" from the movie applied here :P
Note how many flagships are in the screenshot: if you can make it somewhat throughout the third screen, you can shoot a lot of them to really up your score. Alas, I only got a couple before losing my last ship :|
Blasted game lives up to its name! I thought I was going to get motion sickness with how fast those suckers swoop from one side of the screen to the other.
"This score won't last long as the top score", said derek. Challenge accepted :)
No high score table on this one, so I just had my High Score account up in the background.
Hah, good ol' Galaxian bootlegs where a crapload of ships escort the flagship! I used to play one of those at an arcade down the street. Can't recall the name of the game though.
Guess you're not going home then :P
Yeah, I didn't think the version for the Genesis was real great. But then Acclaim was being bashed back then for acquiring a license (such as this) and then making it into a platform game...over and over and over again.
Seems to me this needs to be made into a new entry for "Rad Action Pak".
Quite the evil score...and your initials almost spell out "Satan" too!
It's supposedly not very fun to play; I've played it before but don't recall how it was as a kid. It was at an expo here a few years ago but I missed it. The ball is like a softball and thuds around the playfield, so it's not a real fast table or anything.
Centipede mixed with Galaxian?! How different!
You could actually stand to play this game for a whole nine minutes? :P Oh well, at least I was able to see the Space Mona Lisa wrinkle her nose. I would say I never made it that far but then I only played it a few times at an arcade or two ever, since it wasn't a big hit (wonder why).
Good point. As Jon said though with resubmitting the score/if you look at the photo closely, that 0 is in regards to pods though (something to do with a game goal, I guess?).
Good, voted this time :)
I think your score is actually 1,678, not 16,780.
Looks like false advertising to me: you're not in space!
I. 500 was the bomb! Lotta game variations with that one. I still have mine :)
And I liked playing friends' and neighbors' Commodore 64s!
It doesn't crash, that was a secret ending back then, where Activision wouldn't tell us gamers what would happen if you reached a million. I was disappointed the one time I was able to do that because they had done that before with Laser Blast. Oh well.
It's out west, off Gessner and Hammerly, if you know the area (like off I-10 and Gessner).
Man, I saw that here in a resale shop in Houston several years ago. I wanted to cry since I wasn't working and it looked pretty neat :( Still had the City of Houston - 1978 sticker on it too!
I don't know if I could ever get 99. At some point I'll do 2600 scores, I just don't have it hooked up right now and I'm playing my Genesis.
Heh, good deal! I had the black model myself, which I believe was called Space InvaderS (with an 's' at the end).
I got a copy of Urban Strike (have Desert Strike, but not that one) for my Genesis (cart only) for either $3 or $5 a few months ago myself.
I really stuggling in the attic because the flippers are around the wrong way. If a flipper faces right, my brain wants to hit the left key, and vice versa.
Just press both flipper buttons at the same time. That's what I do.
I'd say whoever made it didn't know coding very well. Certainly seems like it, as they named it "Galaxian II" in hopes that it'd sell, plus it seems to be more music-oriented anyway.
There, that score makes sense :)
Voted this time around.
Yeah. They should've given it a try with a wide release. I'd never heard of it until Pinball Arcade released it.
Well, at least you have your Android device!
Seems to me it's not legit then if you can't have a score. Maybe for number of stages cleared?
Video deleted. Game passed with 100% legitimacy rating over a year ago.
Yeah, I'd only play one game of it back then and play another, much better game.
Decades later someone brought it to a gaming expo. Still sucks today! They had it for sale. Don't know if anyone bought it (hopefully not...).
What'd you think of this one? I never liked it that much back in the day :|
Pretty good score. I think the most I ever did back in the day was 97. I know I never got the perfect game of 99.
I like it a lot too. I think I faintly recall it during the arcade craze days (I remember video games waaaay better than pinball for the most part)
"You can't get around", I should've said, along with maybe I should've said that, with an aforementioned game (whatever it was) was explained to me by someone on here about the mandatory credit deal, I gave him the yes vote. Geez (I didn't get enough sleep last night, so...)...
There's at least one other game in this database that I know of (could be several more on top of that too) where there's credits you can't give around. After he explained that to me I gave him a yes vote. I'd guess this one is ok as well.
Good that you're raising her on the classics :)
Player 2 got clobbered :)
Did a pic and quick video to show that the title screen matched with the game, for those not familiar with it.
i can't use a webcam for MAME either. only for 8-bit systems, basically.
Yeah, I was thinking I'd at least try it the next time I play an emulated 2600 game, as that's one of the few emulators I've got on here.
I have the same issue with my laptop sometimes, I use 2 different screen capture programs, atube catcher or debut recording software. If one makes Mame sputter I'll try the other one if I still have issue's with both then I'll restart my computer.
Oh, ok, I just thought it was this old computer here. (It's like you need a second computer to work a camera!) But, at times the screen would blur and stay that way (forgot to mention that in my comment), so it seems like I still can't use it anyway, or at least not for MAME.
Well, poo. I was hoping this would be my first ever video to send to the site, but unfortunately when you're running the digital camera software and MAME on an over 10 year old computer, it's going to cause the game to be jumpy and throw off your concentration and all.
So, I dedicate this score then to thedarkbanshee for sending me the camera.
The second photo is an actual photo that has my name badge at the bottom left.
Video deleted. This score passed with 100% over a year ago.
Amazing you were able to play that on a real machine!
This was literally my first go at it and played for close to an hour, so perhaps the Genesis version was harder?
It's definitely faster. This version seems slow as a snail to me.
I didn't turn any music off, nor do I remember there ever being any. Apart from the awesome intro music of course.
Yeah, the music's great :) And the Genny version is missing a piece as well!
The first time I've played this in over 15 years. It's pretty awesome!
You find you got your butt kicked when you haven't played it in that long? That's what happens to me when I play the Genesis version, due to the tough A. I. and there's all kinds of things to remember per level and all.
So, there's no in-game music on this version or did you turn it off?
It'll usually tell you if it's private then. I'm just getting an error message.
Yeah...good God, that's a bit too fast.
I see it: the insane amount for the G/S ship. Wow. I was wondering how on earth you got a score like that in so short a time.
Well, since these guys hacked all those games, I'm sure they were doing it for as cheap as possible to try to make a buck.
Pretty decent...I can get past the first base on Scramble and a bit into the second level, but I couldn't concentrate on this one where your lasers and bombs fired at once, so I never bothered doing a score for it :|
Long time no see, Darryl. It's been a while since you uploaded scores lately.
It's good to be back! What the deal has been is that our digital camera is biting the dust; last year it was one of the directional keys that you'd press to scroll around the preview window or play a movie. That's not a huge deal after the button fell off, as there's a hole you can just stick a pin into to work. However, just the other week the delete key quit working, and I didn't want to fill up the rest of the memory card with video game stuff on the family camera. I thought I'd wait until it was full to say that either a new camera was needed or I think I can format the card and wipe out all the pictures and start over.
But then I realized upon attaching the camera to the computer that you can resize, crop AND delete pictures from the computer! So I'm back in business now.
Sega CD Games are under Sega Genesis/Megadrive as it is a add-on.
I forget about that; I think of the CD as a separate system. Some gaming websites list them separately or have them all lumped under Genesis.
HEY! Now that makes TWO of us that has both! :)
32X games are under Genesis/Mega Drive too.
One thing to note here: in the video, I hit reset on my Vectrex to show the title screen. If you wait for too long, the high score will reset to zero.
(whups, the picture uploaded twice)
A couple of notes: one, right click and view on photo if you can’t see my name on my badge at bottom left of photo (yeah, kind of hard to see, I know). Also, in regards to the photo and video, note how it reads the number of continues used was ZERO. In the video (after it was shown that I did not use any continuances), I pressed Start on my controller to get to the title screen. It said three continues were available. That is how many continues you get on the hard setting; on easy, you get five.
D=doubles the number of ballsE=enlarges paddleL=laser (you can shoot)C=catch ballS=slows down the ballB=bonus/warps you to the next level
Also, if I remember correctly, with those things that roam around the playfield and can mess up your ball and all, you can hit them with your paddle and not die, as you were avoiding them. If I'm wrong you don't have to do it ever again though :P
What's wrong with it?
Yeah, but did you get Chuck to fall asleep (or whatever his name is)?
Hah, the twisty part of the joystick on my unit went out, so I can't play this any more!
Try Astro Fighter. It's a lot easier than this jacked up in its difficulty bootleg of the same game.
Well, it's just pretty funny!
"Spike, you smell" :D
I can understand, what with that depressing, apocalyptic final photo!
I kind of look at it like a bigger, scrolling Wizard of Wor, just not as intense.
What're your thoughts on this one? I never thought it was that great a game, and it wasn't a real big hit.
I think you mean Haunted House. There isn't a Ghostbusters game, or at least not yet.
Some tables are almost unplayable with the flashing lights, like Centaur or Attack from Mars; yeech!
Yeah, it's great! I've been playing it on the iPad for a while.
I like how there's a sub with a tank below it :P Bit of a continuity error there!
Might want to add your initials to your profile, as your name should be in the pics.
Hah, KNEW I should've submitted a score on this one! I just can't stand this version (cutting out the diagnals, what?), so it was the only game on the unit I never did a score for (yet!).
With the photo (I was able to get one this time around, unlike with Ghost Muncher), just rick click and View in case you can't see my name on my badge near bottom right of the monitor.
Yeah, that's an unusual one!
Unfortunately I could only write in my name after I took a screenshot (near top center), since the game immediately went into the attract mode before I could take a photo of the computer monitor. I sat and waited around until it went through all game demos and came back to this one but the high score was reset to 10 (?). Oh well, at least I got in a full game this time, as I couldn't even stand to play an entire game of this the first time around, due to feeling nauseated because of the horrible colors and sounds (seriously).
You're welcome. With scores this high, a game of this can take a long time!
I've given video evidence, I dunno what else you want!
They want all kinds of things that life won't give them, so they get all pissy and take it out on others (grow up!).
Voted yes, as this looks to be how I remember it (got rid of my Robotron copy years ago).
I want a room filled with 500 pinball machines in perfect condition.
Check your controls again: there's an additional shield function that is used to knock ships back before they get past you. If you're able to destroy them before they disappear from sight then they won't count against you.
You have several shields; possibly 10, I think, but I could be wrong.
So if any of you know a better way for live recording, tell me please.
If you don't get an answer in a couple of days then I'd take it to the recording area of the forums, because there might be a better chance of someone with an answer there rather than them not seeing your question here.
Thanks guys :)
First off, WATCH THE VIDEO. It explains how the scoring works, as it clearly states at the end of the game which difficulty switches were used.
Here is how scoring works:
First, you have your basic score of how much time you have left whenever you finish a level plus with how well you do with each mini-game that is found in nearly every level.
Then, once you beat the game, you get these bonuses:
Left difficulty on B (nine chances to beat the game): 50 pointsRight difficulty on B (slow Stalkers): 50 points
Here are the bonuses for having the difficulty switch(es) on A:
Left difficulty A (only five chances to beat game): 100 pointsRight difficulty B (fast Stalkers): 100 points
I played using AB switches, meaning only five chances to get out and with slow Stalkers, making an additional 150 points total. The footage clearly states this, as it was all I could do with an over 15 year old digital camera that can only record 15 seconds’ worth of footage.
A person could cheat without video by putting a difficulty switch on A and then claim it was on B when it wasn’t.
Scoring can be confirmed with the instructions to the game here: http://atariage.com/software_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=167
Also, right click and View pic (which I'll have up shortly) in regards to the shot with my score and badge with my name on it, as it's a little blurry but still readable.
I think you have this under the wrong one. That looks like the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man unit. Does it have 12 games? If so, then this needs to be deleted and the score moved there.
My name in the background looks blurry, I mean.
Just right click and View image for a better view (I realize it looks blurry as is).
Nice to add in the date and all on your score :)
You need to play the sequel of Challenger next :)
What'd you end up converting to? Judiasm? :P
Check the controls again. There's a way you can move that cursor to aim your discs during the game.
Oh, it's loading now...
Do you have another photo? I don't see the score anywhere in that one.
Ah, that all answers a lot! :)
Had to do a doubletake with the reflection in the pic; that's a bit funny!
I take it this didn't have anything to do with the band though, unless this is a homebrew?
Yeah, you can tell that by your screenshot: the spinner in the lane (whatever it's called) the leads to your right flipper is off to the right; if you look at the one on the left, it's centered like it's supposed to be. The plunger that shoots the ball is also off to the right as well.
That's been an emulation problem for years. On actual hardware that doesn't happen.
I don't even have a decent emu for that. Can you recommended one.
Unfortunately I can't, since I've never used one.
Hah, what other [probably hacked] games are in this package?
Ever play the ColecoVision port? It's slower and easier. I played that first before finding the arcade game, which I was like "whoa!"
Never mind, I just looked at the score table again, it says -50 points, so I guess that's if you shoot it several times.
Hey, do you know what in tarnation is worth 50 points that appears to be a bunker on the score table screen during the attract mode? I figured out that 10 points are deducted whenever you shoot a bunker but there doesn't seem to be a bonus awarded of 50 points per bunker if you don't shoot them at the end of a wave either. Kind of weird to have that on the score table screen.
Let me know so either you or I can update my article if you ever find out: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Space_Stranger
Where'd you get this ROM from? The one I just downloaded for it is still the old one where the trench doesn't appear. Nice they were able to get around whatever the deal was originally when it didn't appear onscreen :)
Yeah, that's tough to do, especially when playing an original cab, since some of its art interferes with the game and you can't see all of the things you have to bomb!
By the way, for those that don't know and might ignorantly post No on this one, the game automatically has the computer player as well even during a single player game. So there's nothing that can be done about it.
Ever play the 2600 cart? It's got that and Sea Bomber variations on it, the latter of which is just like Destroyer. Not a bad deal :)
You've never TRULY played this unless you played it in the sitdown, smoked-glass cab :) Have you?
See, I TOLD you it wasn't really that hard to get a high score on this variation!
For the photo, my name tag came out a little blurry (right click and View image for enlargement), but it should be familiar, as I use it with all my pics.
The brief video shows the score, then I press Game Select to show I played the right game as per the rules (game 1), then I show the game in my Atari 7800 console.
Might be a [temporary?] bug?
Dang, no way to do a "fast draw" like with Qix?
No, there's been several.
What're those things that you're constantly collecting?
Yep. Earned legitamately though, just like all my other scores.
You might want to right click on pic and click on View photo to see my name on my badge at the bottom a little clearer.
Odd to see the new stuff tossed in. Is game B just a flat-out port of the original?
I only saw this game at one location ever (a Mr. Gatti's), which is going to be hard to find a cab for nowadays since it's so rare :)
Lets see, was this supposed to be a clone of Space Invaders?
Yeah, it wasn't a huge hit or anything, I don't think it got any ports.
It's like the programmers were going, "we need to take a hot idea, like Joust, then, with this being the ZX, we need to do something weird with it", and this was the result :P
Yep, quite a few strange-assed games on this one! (Voted/made legit :) )
Why did it just end when it did? It didn't look like a "game over" to me.
Doesn't seem like much of a "revenge" to me with the majority of the dumbass aliens just flying around in patterns, begging to be shot and barely shooting in return for the most part :P
Big nightmare trying to capture this score! Took a lot of photos, adjusting the brightness, trying it with the overlay on and off, etc.
Right click and View on photo. The two brief videos were mainly just to show the score (sort of) alternating with the title screen to show I played the correct game.
Had to get a bit creative with this one, as the blasted score rolled over to zero after the title screen appeared, which, with an old digital camera that only records 15 seconds' worth of footage, well, I couldn't get a screenshot with my name badge on it. So, I just freeze framed part of the video and took a screenshot of the desktop with my name in the background on the highscore.com page (right click and then click on View in order to see the score better in the photo).
what do you mean?
There are different ROMs for games out there. Tailgunner was cool in the arcades, yet when I played it years later on MAME it seemed borderline awful and monstrously dull, which I reflected in a review. However, later when I needed to get some screenshots of it, I downloaded a ROM of it to do so and it moved a bit more quickly and all and seemed just like from "back in the day". So obviously the first ROM I got was an easier/slower setting or something.
Sadly I believe that with the Genesis/Mega Drive release they replaced it with Pong.
Not only that, but they really screwed it up: the Centipede and Missile Command on that package were like the 2600, and NOT the arcade versions, which was ridiculous. And if that wasn't bad enough, I read that your shots fired so slowly on M. Command that you'd swear someone was sitting next to you and pressing the pause button over and over! That never got a good review back in the day; however, the Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits sure as hell did, as I have that one.
Your video might not be 100% representative of the gameplay to this one though (see my reponse to BarryBloso as to why).
I don't think it'd be "30+ mins", as possibly kernzy has an easier ROM/version of this game, as I couldn't even get 10,000 on this game after several plays myself. So it might still be worth a go.
No title or game over screens on this one, hence no video. Score's at the bottom center.
To access this game on the Vecmania cart, score 150 points on the Patriots Remix, then press pause.
Video to follow soon, although the majority of it's blurry, but it clears up in the end though. And it shows the title screen animation.
Thanks for doing an entry on this! I could never remember what the hell this odd game was called when I played it at a convenience store down the street as a kid. So I gave you a shouty in my review of it at the bottom of its wiki page entry.
It's pretty different! And quite a bit of it requires luck as well.
Did a photo with my name badge at top left, along with a screenshot. If you right click on the first photo and press View Image, you should be able to faintly make out the edge of my computer monitor at top right.
This is an unusual game! I've always enjoyed it on the emulator over the years though. And if by some chance you come across it at a resale shop or garage sale (yeah, right), snap it up! It's very rare!
Very cool, congrats!
And I can do even better on a real machine, as I'm not really used to using this many keys on a keyboard, but I haven't seen one since 1990 or even earlier, unfortunately (but hopefully I'll have my own machine eventually!).
^Lot of the Sonic soundtracks were indeed.
6. Spectrum Joysticks only had one button, some two, but they were for the same function, but game you a choose of what button you prefered to use. In the game when using Joystick you have to pull the Joystick down to activate the barrier.
Hah, a common thing to do/easy to guess at :)
If you have other questions, or questions about other Spectrum games, just ask :-)
Thanks for everything!
The very first ZX Sprectrum article for the site!
Oh good, you might know the answers to some of them then! :)
Oh yeah, one more (sorry, forgot about this one):
I'd need to know the controls if using a joystick, if possible. I don't know much about the ZX, so I don't know if its joystick had only one button, so I'd have to know what was used for the barrier function then (I assume it'd be up or down on the joystick, like with several shooters for the Atari 2600). Or if their joysticks had more than one button, then which one did which function, if you knew.
Whoops, ignore this end part: S to go to options or to start game?
1. Is this for one player only?
2. Do you know of the mother ship point values? From what I could see in the video, it seemed to be worth 4-5000 each time but I'm not exactly sure.
3. What format(s) was this released on (cart, floppy, tape)?
4. If you know the proper names for things in the game, that'd be great (player's blaster [I know shield is known as "barrier" this time around], big and small birds, mother ship, mother ship segments/belt? [the latter has a point value to it of 5 points, for example, so it'd be good to know exactly what it's called, if possible]).
5. On the title screen, when S is pressed to start, does it go straight to the game then? Did the options screen come first where you choose what kind of controls you want?
S to go to options or to start game?
Thanks for putting this up! This, along with some scant other info I could find online (which isn't much), is enough to do an entry for my BOTSS wiki on this game, so, with your knowledge on the ZX, I was wondering if I could ask you some questions about Pheenix to see if you knew the answers in regards to getting a page up for it.
Good, now lets see what kind of score you'll get in a bit! :)
Check your MAME settings; there's an extra button for warping, which will propel you to the top of the screen and back down. The game's WAY better (and more fun) that way. Also, once the blue ship stops, when the coast is clear, dock with it from the right and you'll get bonus points.
More info here: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Challenger
Get past level 6 and it'll be unlocked.
Yeah, both games are a bitch to try to get 100% scores on. I can't recall if I ever got full scores for each (114,000 on the original and 199,000 on this one), but I know I've gotten very close though.
Sorry for accidentally giving this a no vote. I've since appealed to Serious to see if it can be changed here: http://www.highscore.com/discussions/topic/serious-vote-reversal/364
Very difficult and not very fun. Not a good combination!
This game is crap! I can see why I had never heard of it before until a couple of years ago.
Thanks for the clarification. I didn't think you were doing anything but I wasn't sure :)
Do credits automatically load on this version? Because on the arcade original, you would have to deposit a coin in order to continue; here you started with four credits and went down to zero.
No, it wasn't; (boring) gameplay can go on for quite a while without changing. Only cool thing about it is when it gets dark. That was probably pretty new back then to see in the arcades.
I don't trust the submitter due to past actions, reputation, or their legit rating
that has to be the worst. FUCK YOU!
Hmmmm, let's see: as far as "past actions", I've only seen you put cartridges in, power on and start. I don't know much about the NES, but it didn't look like there was cheating going on from what I could tell.
"Reputation"? I haven't heard anything about about you. Next...
"Legit rating"? 98.7%? What's wrong with that?
Call me stupid, but I don't see what the deal is, and my vote just made this legit at 96%.
Thanks, voted :)
Was a video capture card used for this or something?
Too bad, as I really liked the similiar-themed games of Thrust, Gravitar and Gravitrex, as this one looks like it'd be right up my alley!
Ah ok. People are flying blind!
Does nothing show up on the scanner?!
Actually this is a clone of the old Atari game Avalanche. Then Kaboom! was a clone of that, and a much better game!
A drum set's good for that too, but a bit more expensive.
Yeah, that son of a bitch!
Yeah, I imagine not many saucers doesn't help...
Oh, so it was run through a video capture card or something?
Wouldn't this go under emulated?
Yeah, I've gotten GREAT deals at resale shops, although not necessarily for games. Thank God for people who don't know what some stuff is actually worth!!
Ah, you're right there, just three years younger than myself.
Thanks, but I've probably been playing this game before you were born as it is :)
I apologize for the small picture, but the score is at least visible.
Just right click and View and it's more than large enough. No problem :)
That's pretty wrong...
Did a few here, since there's no title with the game over screen. There IS one on there, but in my rush (I was in a hurry) I forgot to take a photo of that screen, hence why I just took a shot off my brief movie for it (hence why there's no name badge with that one). The movie itself shows the title/high score screen.
Yeah, just go into that blue thing at the left and you'll access a much larger second area, along with coming up with a bigger score! (And erratic-moving bats; yeech!)
How come you didn't enter the second area?!
I loved this game!! I hope to have a dedicated machine of it as well, but since I only saw it at one location ever back in the day, I'm sure it's monstrously rare nowadays, unfortunately. (Also known as Baraduke.)
Aw, you blew it!
Yeech, that constantly flashing score has GOT to go!
There is no game name on the high score screen. However, as the brief video shows, it does appear after several seconds once the demo is left running.
Nowadays kids aren't going to know what those casette tapes are
Oh well, you'll get a city and state trophy for it, at least (/voted)...
Hah, the return of the blood red Vectrex! Well, that's what happens when you try to block the flash with your hand...
The video shows the score/game over screen, followed by my pressing 1 on my controller, taking it to the title screen where it shows there's a match for those not familiar with this game.
Did one of each here: a monstrously brief video showing the game over screen, then a shot of that (albeit a little blurry) and a shot of the high score/title screen.
Happy 2015 everybody!
I don't suppose you know why they got a mention if the Heart of the Alien game on the Sega CD was beat, do you? I've been trying to find out that one for years. Due to myself, they had never heard of it before until I contacted Harm, curator of the Bolt Thrower FAQ :)
Eeeeeek (goes to listen to some manly stuff, like the death metal of Bolt Thrower)
How does this port compare to the original? Was it pretty well done?
Too bad there's no break in the action with bonus rounds, power-ups, etc. I can see why it wasn't a big hit in the day (only saw it at one or two places myself), as it had an interesting gimmick/spin to the glut of bottom shooters, and that was about it.
I would say the main thing would be to explain why you even have a Barbie cartridge in the first place, but then maybe we don't want to know...
What do you use for a controller?
Ah, so I was right years and years ago to end my game at 999,959, not knowing if it would roll over or not :) (I was on the Grid Bugs screen and couldn't get 999,999, since they're worth 50 points apiece!)
Turds on here just don't watch videos, is what the deal is Especially when it comes to shooting down MAME scores in videos that people didn't even have time to watch, yet the people who posted them said they instantly got no votes on them.
Congrats! I can't recall if I ever got 114,000 on the original 2600 version. If not, I came very close though.
Thanks for putting this up, I forgot how cool the music was :)
A chick on a flying broom with more onboard firing power than Rambo...yeah, that makes sense :P
What an utterly ridiculous game!! Like a B-rated movie made into a game. :)
Looks like you chose advanced rather than expert...
You have to look closely at the photo (/right click and do View), but my name tag is at the top, slightly right of center. Don't know why the flash didn't go off...
More info can be read about the game here: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Tiny_Invaders
The game can be played here: http://www.y8.com/games/Tiny_Invaders
A somewhat unique bottom shooter. Alien critters (or whatever they are) start moving blocks around or something (it's been over 20 years since I saw and played it anywhere), and they start spelling out words if you don't shoot them fast enough. If the words spell out "the end", yep, it's game over then.
Ah good! Play on!
I had to stand on my head just to watch and vote on this...thanks :P
No, it's just that, what with piloting the Millenium Falcon, that means you weren't Luke, so therefore the Force wasn't with you, duh
Adds a newer, much better element to the game! :) It also makes completing the bonus rounds possible and with points left over. Give it a try!
I take it the ol' machine was screwing up with the first five scores?
Maybe you've realized it since, but you've got super speed once you become Super Pac-Man (just hold down the button).
Try to get the 300 point U. F. O. secret on THAT one!
Maybe you've found it by now, but if not:
Yeah, I coulda sworn you brought a gun to a knife fight too :P
Note: MY INITIALS ARE AT THE BOTTOM LEFT OF SCREEN! Ha, I couldn't get the digital camera ready in time to take a photo of the monitor with my name badge on it before it went back to the title screen! Annoying.
I didn't know the game had an ending either! Kind of cuts short very high scores there; once you destroy the second mother ship, the game ends.
More info can be seen here about the game: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Galaxy_Invaders Need to correct the error about not being invaded though, as that isn't true, but just clear out the bottom few horizontal rows of invaders and they won't come down any closer, which IS true.
Forgot to mention, the game can be played here (one of many sites): http://www.playbela.com/game/g/galaxy%20invaders/play-galaxy-invaders.html
Pretty horrible sounds and colors!
How come you went through the Galaxian prize?!
Nice for you to include that second picture.
How's the control in the game?
Not exactly prime real estate.
No, an additional 1800 points to try to match (or even beat your score) is a BIG difference on this game. The "closest" I ever got was 6300 and I doubt I'll ever get that high again.
Have to agree on how great The Pinball Arcade is :)
Also, Serious, if you see this, you need to move this score:
Darrin confirmed it's the same game. His needs to be moved to the Donkey Kong: Pauline Edition regular page, and not emulated, since he has the actual cart.
"I've trying doing screen caps"
I've TRIED doing screen caps, lets put it that way :P Damn logout hit when I first tried making a comment and didn't feel like retyping the damn thing.
I did a photo of the screen and a screen capture. The reason the latter is small is because, when using Stella, if you press Shift/Enter (I think it is), it shrinks the playing area. I've trying doing screen caps with it on full screen and they just come out blank, so that's why I shrunk it.
Also, right click on photo and choose View if you have to, as that is a bit small and hard to see the score.
Bah ha ha, the blood red Vectrex in an eerie photo! Well, that's what happens when you cover up the flash to try not to glare out the screen.
Resubmittal to beat my first pathetic score, which was the best I could do after several games at the time. Yes, the video has no sound, due to shooting with an over 12 year old digital camera.
Well, that's why it could use a video: it could be another hack called "Space Invaders Arcade". Who knows.
There is a hack of the Coleco version like this, but I don't know the name.
It isn't Donkey Kong VCS, though.. It in no way resembles the Coleco version.
Could've been the name of the hack, but luckily I found it already!
Create a category (if it's not there already)/move this score to Donkey Kong 2600: Pauline Edition.
You can see where it all matches up here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/209917-donkey-kong-2600-pauline-edition-cart-sale/
This isn't Donkey Kong--darrin was probably right the first time around--as you played as Mario on Donkey Kong, NOT the female you have to rescue. There are also no hearts as part of the score as well.
I had this game back in the day and this is not it. The instructions can be found online on atariage.com (here, actually http://atariage.com/manual_thumbs.html?SoftwareLabelID=148), and you can see by these scans what I said is true and correct.
Obviously Vector Gamer hasn't realized there IS no difference in gameplay when set on difficulty A on Pitfall. Positive vote from me :)
Looks just like the regular 2600 Space Invaders to me, although I can't tell without a video in case they do something different.
I think you have the wrong pic up, as I've played a Space Invaders Arcade hack before, and they look totally different: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Space_Invaders_Arcade
What equipment was used here for emulation? It looked like a tv was turned on at the beginning?
great Pac-man game
Nice to hear, many weren't happy with it back in the day :)
They won't, due to Serious being one of the people on here who said he doesn't have a problem with it either, but I personally will only play games for this site.
I can score that again, and did so the other day. Screwed up and accidentally hit the fire button though when I should've pressed up on the joystick, which registered my initials as "DDD" or something So I'll just do it again.
Some people obviously think it's ok to do, I don't. This site wasn't here back then, so I wasn't playing this game specifically for it.
Hmmm, makes for an interesting case here: did Activision distribute this in other countries? 20th Century Fox made this, not them, yet their logo appears during startup. So I think you're playing a bootleg version of this game.
This is an excelent hack. You knew about it before I did.
Yeah, when I had founded the wiki I did articles for all hacks that I could find for River Raid. There's still more to do too!
You're going to have to file this under the correct category. This seems to be a web game or something, and not the original arcade game of Pac-Man.
Note name tag at bottom right (right click and View in order to see it better) in second photo.
No initials can be entered with this game.
You'll see where it's pretty familiar! :) My review from several years ago here: http://www.stageselect.com/26842--Reviews--route-16.aspx
Hey cool! I never knew the original got an update to it. Looks like they didn't ruin a classic!
Looks like you'll have to repost, as it says game 1 at bottom center; this category is for game 12.
So I take it this version was a faithful port? On Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man, they totally ruined it by having only a four-way joystick (you know monstrously hard it is to dodge enemy fire with diagnals?!) and taking out the Mothership and those octogon-shaped tanks (whatever they're called) that you can only destroy with bombs, which was ridiculous.
Thanks! After you get a few no votes on MAME, you do what you can when you don't have a full-fledged video camera.
I'm surprised, as it not only was out for quite a while starting in 2006, but it was also re-released in 2012, according to its plug and play wiki page (http://plugplaytvgames.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Original_Trilogy, which it's now a full article, as I just greatly expanded it yesterday, as it had almost no info at all beforehand. Lightsaber Duel is still greatly lacking though, but I'm not into hack and slash games for the most part, so I'm not submitting a score for it, nor playing it to get enough of a feel for it to think I could do a write-up for it).
I included links at the end to two reviews, one of which I did for Stage Select, giving it a 6 out of 10 (the games are too easy, but it's not bad), the other one to a negative review from AtariLeaf, as he told of how his "heart" was "ripped out" upon playing it. Oh, please. One, you have to look at who the unit was marketed to: young kids. Two, who the hell released it? Jakks Pacific did. I don't know if it's still true nowadays (or if it was true back when I read it), but they supposedly didn't even have their own in-house development team. How the hell they can license something, hire someone else to come up with games for it and sell it for $25 and still make a profit is beyond me (but then, again, it was supposedly re-released in 2012, so that could be why).
You weren't; what are you whining about? (No, I'm lying, and agree ;) )
Pic of unit included this time, as someone had asked about it :)
For those waiting for a brief video, YouTube is lagging right now, so check back if you don't vote yes unless you see one. Hurry up YouTube!
Yes, that's right.
They're all easy, aimed at the younger crowd games, especially R. Leader (hence my earlier over 700,000+ score).
Note my earlier top score doesn't count, since I made that years ago when I first got the unit, waaaay before this site existed.
YEECH! A scrolling shooter crossed with Hello Kitty!
Decided to add another photo (although I forgot my name tag on that one) so you could at least see the title screen with the name on it better.
YEEEECH! Damn this was a hard score to try to capture! I tried with and without the overlay on, turned the brightness down, tried shooting from all kinds of angles, etc., and this was the best I could do after many attempts. You couldn't read it at all after several videos either, along with seeing my name on my tag! Well, it should be familiar to those on here by now...
Sorry about the bluriness; right click and View and squint to try to make it out (I sure could use the guy's camera that put in a score yesterday on Rockaroids)...
Yep, no sound on the vid, as per usual.
Ah good, the evidence for this one came out much better than with Spike's Water Balloons!
The high score is explained in the video.
Sorry the evidence didn't turn out that well, although the photo's a bit better (right click and View for a larger version). The main thing for the (blurry) video was that I showed it was on the All Good Things cartridge like it was supposed to be. Next time I'll try doing a second take -- although the scores for the other games are a little larger though, at least -- along with turning the brightness down (which usually helps).
Dim, you look waaaaay too happy for such a grim game there
Looks like the game's been well cared for. Good to see.
Yellow, pink and green ghosts...barf!
Never did understand why they did this so-so sequel.
Also forgot to mention to do a right click and then click on View image for the second photo, since that's hard to read by default.
Yeah I know, with the screen capture I should've had this/my High Score page up, but on this version of Z26 it seems like your cursor is stuck there on the window and you can't get it out. Oh well, I did that, along with a photo with my name tag on it, so at least I have one of each, even though I don't have a video with nice music like Banshee did :)
Also funny to see this entry on here, due to doing a wiki page on it last year: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Planet_Raid
You CAN drop bombs on this version, right?
So is this the version that came out back in the day or a modern day homebrew?
Give my regards to Chewie.
What, a Xevious hack where you pilot the Falcon? :)
I disappointed you not like the game
Interesting! Kind of takes the first screen concept from a blah arcade game Moon Shuttle and then combines it with Atari 2600's Cosmic Creeps second stage.
No, it wasn't exactly a favorite. I liked it ok though.
It's like they came up with the soundtrack first and foremost, then the game to go with it!
Yeah I had thought you had checked no under the bombs.
Geez, nice startup with the 300 point secret, then you can't get past the first level! :P
So would the bombs start dropping by the second screen?
Ouch! I always liked the invisible invaders on the Atari 2600 cart, but this is seizure-inducing!
I'd say there needs to be quite a few "swapz" made on this one!
Bah, this sucker needs more color! Just blue and tan; bleah...
(sigh) Things aren't looking good :|
Correction: not Subterranea, Laser Gates...
Looks like a cross between Atari 2600 Subterranea and iOS Space Junk (before there was a Space Junk)!
Holy sh*t, this is absurd beyond belief!
Very appropriate response there :)
Looks like you need to remove your Bifrost pic...
Due to there being no sound on your computer setup or whatever, you definitely need to fill that void with some commentary: "Be vewy vewy quiet..."
Oh no at 6:55 when you had to start all over!
Thanks for posting this, as I wanted to see how it compared to the Coleco version.
Oh no! Forget killer robots or the scary Sinistar, the DEATH BREATH (looking like an angry, constipated, Asian version of Dizzy Gillespie [sp?]) is the one to fear the most out of all video game bosses evar!
What the heck, do you not even NEED ladders in this game?
You're welcome; voted!
Looks like a nice unit.
Think you need to resubmit this chief: it looks like the closest score you have to matching is 45,850, NOT 48,550.
There's so much to love about this game.
Like the stolen melody from "Funkytown" during the forest!
Nice to see this, along with the "Rock-Ola trademark" of the coconut-throwing gorilla. It was in Pioneer Balloon too, unless this is actually the same game with a different name (I'm not sure).
No, you should just be able to download the basic package for free, which is the interface, unless things have changed. Then when you see a game you want to play, you download it. It'll be the free version where, if you have a good enough game going on, a score threshold will suddenly kick in and end your game and ask if you want to buy it from there. Also, every month is a free featured game that you can download and play all you want for free (i. e. no game ending threshold interruptions). So that's how I'm able to play these, although anyone who has a halfway decent tablet or phone has an advantage over me, since these are being played on a cheap tablet with jerky animation and all :P The family's iPad Mini is much smoother, but that's out of town for the moment.
Oh, I didn't realize you weren't using a camera on these.
So what, he's a jailbreaker :P
As Serious said a while back, it could be set on easy for all they know. Next time before you start a game, bring up the options menu where it shows the game is set on the default level with the default number of lives that it originally had when released back in the day. I've seen others on here do that and they usually don't get no votes with those.
What the heck...a homebrew?
How do those new controllers handle as compared to the original ones?
Perhaps not. Can't say I've played it, but I've been warned if I find it too easy as well!
For anyone who isn't familiar with this game and thinks the video looks suspicious with it jumping around, that was the way it was with several of the laserdisc, as well as this one holographic game back then.
Dunno, never been to Pinballz.
Yep, it was the largest pinball ever made. Crazy machine!
Did one of each here, being a screenshot and a photo. Can’t do video yet without a camera. My score/initials are at bottom left of each pic.
This is a unique cross between any bottom shooter and Asteroids where you shoot large objects and they split into smaller ones. This is one of the very few arcade games that I want as my own some day.
More can be read about this game here that I did in a writeup: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Challenger
Do NOT vote on this yet; there is an ongoing problem where scores either can't be uploaded or they're taking a while to do so and the same is going with photos (I've tried already).
Ugh, thank God the bug graphics don't look real, since they almost make me wanna itch just watching the video!
Ick! What the hell happened? (How can you get "frostbite" in split pea soup?)
(laughs!) Thanks, I needed that comment after the way today's been :P
Yeah, I thought it had something to do with the volume control. But then it's a cheap piece of junk anyway, as I got a score of a million more earlier, had it sit with nothing touching it on the enter initials screen as I went to get the camera, then when I had come back it had crashed and the whole device had reset (?). Whatever!
'Cuz it's brief? :)
I've combined the two with several of my last scores in regards to getting a screenshot and a photo so it can be done in two formats. Why not? :)
Very brief video: not even 40 seconds!
Neat! You can definitely see how it's related to Cavelon, even though the original wasn't a platformer.
Agreed, this is one of the very few arcade cabs I'd like to own one day.
Thanks, but I'm not much into units that don't correctly emulate the games/have incorrect controls and all. And I have several of the original games myself anyway.
I always liked this one:
Well, it's not like they'd call it "Froggy Meow" or "Froggy Oink" :P
Is it SUPPOSED to be running in slow motion?! Ick!
^Like you need an excuse For you, every day's Frogday!
Ha ha, good point
You shoulda had whoever was waiting behind you in line hold your phone
Right. The choose game screen is also different than with the original S. Fever too, as well as how the aliens look.
Those are different versions of the game. My score was *supposed* to be for the "high splitter" version. I need to have Serious move it. The game you played was an earlier version where the aliens start off as one horizontal row that multiplies after a certain amount of time; on the high splitter version, they start off as one vertical row that multiplies with the first several times the formation reaches a screen edge.
I figured it'd be good for those not familiar with the game and/or system to include a couple of brief video clips showing the score/title screen together (I MEANT to do this with Wormhole as well, which is also on the same cartridge [Vectopia], but I screwed up and accidentally bumped my controller as I was *trying* to film it, making it advance to where "Wormhole" wasn't showing up on the screen any more, so I wasn't ready! Heh, so only a photo went up with that submission).
Right click and view photo for a slightly better viewing, but with the score being small it's hard to see anyway.
Heh, only plug and plays I have are the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man (did all entries except for Xevious, since that port was totally ruined), Star Wars Original Trilogy (might do those games eventually) and a pirate 25 games in one unit (which the games are so awful I don't want to even bother with that piece of sh*t!).
Well it still looks kind of neat--I'd give it a shot (pardon the pun)--but yeah, doesn't really seem to be "Defender" if there's just Landers and Mutants for the most part.
Good luck, Breakout was NOT made for joystick use!
Are there ever any Pods or anything?
You probably couldn't take it for much longer anyway...
From the look of Mickey's face in the pic, it doesn't look like it!
Well I'm just unsure, hence why I was asking. I've only played a handful of C64 games and I never heard of this one. It's pretty different with the big ships in the background!
Good deal! (voted)
Is this submitted under the wrong category? That's actual hardware, yet the category says "emulated".
So the background instantly changes once you go up a level? Because that looks suspicious, so you might want to mention that in a comment.
Looks better than Atari 2600 Dishaster...
The...alpiner...and...Vectrex Molly...should get...together (that reads like pieced-together voicemail if you know what I mean with the voice samples!).
That's a bit of a different spin for you Frogger fetish freaks! (Say the latter part five times fast...)
Try it on a harder level next time!
It's kind of like Asteroids, but at the bottom of the screen!
"Guess it's really no different than having separate categories for things like the Jakks Pacific plug n play controllers"
That's because the games on many of the units play differently anyway, as I saw a video on YouTube of some unit where old Pac-Man patterns didn't work for one of them, but they went back to working with the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man unit that I have (as the YouTuber I saw had both units to compare). Sounds also differ on many of the games too.
"Funny they can't get shit straight 25 years after the original software/hardware was done."
That's Jakks for you, as it took many units before the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man collection came out, which was quite good. Still totally ruined Xevious though (the only game that I didn't submit a score for on here!) and changed a few minor things in a few of the games, but otherwise I'm happy with my unit.
"This is just too hectic and weird with two playfields"
Then it's kind of like Pepper II then. But then that's got like eight playfields or something!
"ahahah ye, don't even know what that's supposed to mean! Probably some shitty translation from Japanese that doesn't really work in English. Yakuza 4 is full of these, especially in mini games or non-story related quests :D"
That's pretty sad for that to still be going on nowadays for a fairly recent console as the PS3. (But still funny )
Well whatever, just as long as you were a "decent dragon" about the whole thing :P
Yeah, a bit misleading! But of course, it can be played on other sites.
How many levels does this game have?
Looks pretty cool!
Thanks, that's several more games I can add to the arcade list of my BOTSS (bottom of the screen shooter) wiki! :)
Due to the Japanese symbols and badly translated English in the promos, it looks like these were Japanese games that didn't get much distribution in the States here, hence why they're not in the klov (although they HAVE some Japanese games there, but I guess a few slipped through the cracks).
Well, it's still pretty damn good. Can't find this company on there either. Maybe this was the only game they came out with?
Great, good luck! And let me know! (It could just end, after all.)
That's odd, this isn't in the Killer List of Video Games database. Was it released under another title?
I did a shot of the monitor (which my high score is at the upper right of that screen, along with my name tag), as well as a screenshot with the high score table.
This game can be played at:
For the wiz kids on here, if someone could please get past the "core", I'd like to know what happens next: being a vector remake of the arcade classic Scramble (Sixx, this was the game I told you I would submit next), I assume it just starts back over at the beginning, but I'm not sure, as I've never been able to get past that part.
Wow, I don't recall those sound effects. Maybe it's because they were so bad my mind blocked them out!
I was always in the minority of liking this game, especially with the whiners going "it's not Pac-Man! You don't eat dots!" So what? It's more intuiative to unlock doors and all, if you ask me!
Interesting, must've been a colorized version, as I've played this one and it was in black and white. But who knows.
Well one thing I never noticed back in the day is that the game doesn't get any harder actually, the aliens don't come closer and closer with each progressive wave like with most Invaders games in general. With this variation, they always stay on the same level.
Yeah, there's no "high splitter" on the game title, startup or high score screens, nothing, it's definitely just the ROM name.
Dammit, I never noticed that Serious screwed up and didn't name one of the ones I submitted as to being Space Fever Color High Splitter, so you've got the lone score for this one
Anyway, this was my favorite version of all the three games
That probably was the "high splitter" version. Did the aliens split into two if you didn't shoot them right up the middle? Then that's the same version, if it were in color. That's just the name of this ROM if you want to make sure you're playing the right game (the original Space Fever was in black and white and the three games played differently).
Crazy that you played something this obscure :) I only saw it at one game room ever. Going to be a bitch to find one myself eventually!
Yeah, I can get nearly 50,000 too on a good game without much in the way of patterns.
Does this one have a construction set? I've got Arkanoid 2 and it allows people the ability to make their own levels.
You're welcome! Glad you played the original too :)
"And i must confess i didn't check Star Wars out, that sounds like a must."
Did you ever play the original arcade game with the flight yoke controller? If not, it might not seem that great, as the only time John Dondzila got a bad review for his Vectrex Vecmania compilation was when someone played his S. Wars clone of Star Fire Spirits on an emulator with the keyboard. You can't play that game (very well) with a keyboard! If you have though you'd definitely see where the remake is a pretty good complement to the original, although it could have joystick control, I don't know.
"Tried it out (and the other Minionsoft remakes) and must say i think only Frogger was good."
You didn't like Star Wars? Space Invaders wasn't very good, but he made that in only a day, I believe he said.
"This game was simple just to darn hard even for an old shooter fanatic like me.
Am i doing something wrong?"
You might want to watch the backgrounds pretty closely. I lost several ships before since I couldn't tell there were birds "walking" around right at my level until I smacked into them. That's the main thing, I think.
"Maybe it should have Minionsoft in the title as well so people could find it, there's tons of Phoenix remakes on the web?"
I didn't know there were any others online. I haven't looked.
No Evil Otto?
Re-submittal from my original posting (this was a different game I've since played too), since I accidentally put it under as to being the "Phoenix (web)" platform, which wasn't true: you download the game from the net, but you PLAY it on a PC! So thanks for people who voted for it the first time around, sorry you have to do it again.
I also added a second pic taken of the monitor itself this time around though, in case anyone says they can't trust just a screengrab.
You can get this very good remake of the arcade Phoenix classic here: http://www.minionsoft.com/wordpress/?page_id=105
My wiki page I made for it can be seen here: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Phoenix_(Minion_Software)
Looking forward to several other players who expressed interest to share their scores!
It's the only score for now, so why not? Another first trophy! :)
Nice to see scores coming in for this unusual classic :) (I've got the only one for the Genesis, and someone else submitted for the emulated version.)
Oh damn, I screwed up, I accidentally submitted this under "web". This isn't a web game, you download it and play it on your PC. I'll see about getting this put up under the correct platform and re-submitting a score.
No one else vote on this, nor put up any scores under this category Sorry about that.
No, I didn't make anything. I don't have a problem using the keyboard for just l/r movement, firing and shields.
Glad people are picking up on these :)
This game is wrong on so many levels!
Interesting to see the character climb up and down ladders to get to the next levels though. I had rented Splatterhouse 3 for the Genesis and you'd think they would've expanded on that formula for a sequel.
Hah, great death right before the 1:00 mark! You still took out a fireball!
"Awesome, there's a Frogger remake as well.. And it's almost 4 in the morning here, god damn it!!"
Hah, go to bed! :)
Yeah, the guy's done good work, like with Star Wars. It could crash with no warning though, and the voiceovers can pop up a little too often on the first area of the game, but it's still pretty good though.
"Keep those remakes coming,"
There's another one I have in mind, although I'm not sure if I requested it or not (this one was requested several days ago, but Serious had the game expo to attend, slowing him down a bit, I'm sure!). I'll wait a few more days I guess. It's a bit of an unusual one!
"And superb Wikia!"
Thanks! I did the Vectrex one too :) I'd like to have more than Space Invaders games on BOTSS though, although I do run across some from time to time. But then I'm not constantly doing articles, plus it'd be good to get more writers on that.
Whups, try THIS for my wiki page!
This is a really good remake (they didn't screw it up!) of the classic arcade game Phoenix.
You can read about it on a wiki page I made here: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Phoenix_Minion_Software
The game can be downloaded here: http://www.minionsoft.com/wordpress/?page_id=105
Happy bird shooting!
Oh neat, that's your unit?
Yeah, I'd requested those from Serious a while back. He just gets a ton of e-mails and requests, several of which I'm waiting on right now.
Right, the arcade update (well, as of back then!).
Note: the 47,000 high doesn't count, since that was made before I made my goal to the first person to post a score on here, which would've been cheating. I never could top that score, so there ya go.
Looks like 33,250 to me.
Might want to erase this score, then repost it before you get any no votes for posting an incorrect score.
Some of it can be just flat-out luck too: during one game I think like TWO of those blue bonus dealies were real close right off the bat, so I was able to get them both very fast and jack up my score. Quite a few variables with this one ;)
Yeah, I thought getting the blue/2-5x dealies quick was another part, but the thing is, if they're close at the start of a level, sure, I grab them as soon as possible. However, I'd much rather clear out as many of the Xs as possible around the monster pen before they start coming out, since they move so damn fast. So for me its a [lack of, once I start clearing them out] quantity of fewer Xs vs. a lower quantity of points deal for me :)
I'll check it out. Did you get some of those bonus deals that freezes up the enemies? I don't always go for those (it's dangerous), but with the bonus multipliers and all, they can be worth a lot!
Cool, it's an unusual game altogether!
Pretty good score, by the way, although I don't see how 100+K can be reached. I played several games myself and got like 58,000 as a high (I didn't know what my high score was beforehand, so I had to refresh my memory with the game).
You got as close to 66,666 as you could, admit it
I just assumed you got a high score because you didn't want "Kinky" to get you :P
I would say Pac 'n Pal did too, but I'm not sure; I never saw, much less played that in an arcade, I just have a version of it on a plug and play console.
Yeah, me neither in regards to Steve!
Nice to see all those flags there :)
Just letting you know that usually a photo with your initials in it is sufficient.
For anyone stating they want a video of this evidence, go here for reference and read the bottom two paragraphs: http://www.highscore.com/scores/ArcadeEmulatedMAME/SpaceFeverspacefevGameB/12952
For anyone that thinks there's a discrepancy with my score on that game being about twice as high on this one, game B is a lot easier.
A few things about the Space Fever games:
The original was just called Space Fever and was in black and white. However, I’ve seen ROM images where it was supposedly in color. I don’t know if those were added to the pictures for effect or if that was changed on the ROM, but there’s a few ways to tell which ROM you have (and for which game for you to place scores under): one, the original black and white S. Fever has aliens (the bottom two rows) that look like they’re doing jumping jacks when they move. Game A is nearly impossible to clear, due to the invaders moving in two separate formations. In game B, there’s only one row of vertical invaders at the start of a new game, but after a certain amount of time more will appear, and I think on game C it’s just regular Space Invaders.
Then there’s Space Fever (Color), or known as Space Fever High Splitter on here (that’s the name of the ROM for it; in the arcades it was just known as Space Fever). On game A, the invaders will sometimes drop down two or three rows at a time, then go back UP two or three rows at a time. On game B, once the lone vertical column of invaders reaches a screen edge, then they’ll multiply (unlike with the original black and white version of the game where the multiplication is time-based), then game C is regular Space Invaders. The middle two rows of invaders also look like giant crabs.
My top score is at the bottom right of the screen in the last column; I included where it says “high splitter” at the top of the window to show I have the right ROM for the game. (You might have to right click and then View photo for a better view.)
Actually my score's at the bottom left, rather.
My top score is at the bottom center of the screen; I included where it says “high splitter” at the top of the window to show I have the right ROM for the game. (You might have to right click and then View photo for a better view.)
For anyone wanting to comment about how they want a video for this, go here for reference: http://www.highscore.com/scores/ArcadeEmulatedMAME/SpaceFeverspacefevGameB/12952
Also, for those that might think there's a discrepancy with my scores with this and game B (as my game B score is over twice as much), game B's a lot easier and the aliens don't keep on coming closer and closer with the start of a new wave. There's also far fewer of them at the beginning of a game too.
And then as far as any comments go, there are NOT to be any that states "I think a photo alone isn't sufficient evidence for this score. Video desired.", as there have been several times before. As I’ve ALSO stated several times before, I’m not working, I don’t have the money for a camera, I’m not working, I don’t have the money for a camera, I’m not working, I don’t have the money for a camera! See how I can repeat things over and over too? What, if you repeat this over and over again does that mean a camera will just drop down out of the sky at some point for me to use? Do you believe if you say “bloody Mary” in front of a mirror three times in a darkened room she’ll appear too?
Obviously people are going to vote how they want, but no repeated comment is not only unnecessary, it’s also abuse. I don’t appreciate the implication that I’m so stupid I can’t figure out a simple purchase and/or I have ADD. Just vote.
Neat, a homebrew?
Is this just like the original? The version I have on the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man unit is, except that you can't do diaginals (four way joystick, or actually you *can* do diaginals but they're hard to do) and for some dumb reason they made your shots steerable after fired. Other than that it played exactly the same though.
I always liked this one as a challenge due to the speed :)
Thanks! I could get higher though, but I hadn't played it in a year or more, just went through several games last night and did a bit better as I went along.
Funny how this must be the #1 game on here (as mentioned on the forums the other day)--with the official ports and clones--and I was going to enter a score for this last night, but then I saw where Darrin9999 beat me to the very first one! So that was ironically funny, so I made sure to do it like I had planned before anyone else did.
DAMMIT! Died with two smart bombs left! Could've nuked some Pods and got a few thousand points more. Oh well, best I could do out of several games.
The high score screen was too difficult to take a picture of, so I just did a brief movie of it instead (our digital camera only takes 15 second movies max and with no sound). I also took a frame out as a photo; that was the best I could do.
Hah, you even used the overlay! Looks great!
Hopefully I'll be there! (It'd be about my sixth one :) )
"We win!" it reads on the game over screen. Yeah, well, up yours :P
Forgot to mention on the next screen there's no title identifying it as Spike Hoppin' or anything, hence again why it's best to get a shot of this one.
In my opinion it's probably best to get a shot of this screen, as afterwards it just goes to a blank screen with the high score and the copyright date being all zeroes. This one at least shows Spike hopping (/hoppin') across the screen, even though he can come out blurry, like he did here. Well, I didn't have much time to adjust the camera settings or turn the brightness down before the screen went to the other one, so this was about as good as I could do.
Wait, you live in Louisiana? Have you been to these here in Houston, the H. A. A. G. expos?
I never know until the last moment. I'd BETTER! I missed the last two, unfortunately :(
This may seem like just another Space Invaders clone at first, but then differences emerge, such as the number of shots you can fire, the number of shots THEY can fire at you, six bunkers, and three different U. F. O.s, two of which buzz right over your ship, one of which (the yellow one, so beware of that!) drops a bomb with a very wide arc to it.
The game can be played here, one of many places: http://www.playfg.com/mars-encounter-game.html
"I picked up Dragon Stomper"
That's a pretty complex game and one of the very few actual RPG's from back in the day for the entire system!
"also I met at a flea market one of the guys that started Arcadia / Starpath."
"he said he programmed a version of Star Raiders. I forget if he said it was for Supercharger or not."
If it was, then it would've been the pack-in called Phaser Patrol.
Several things to note here: one, my name is at the bottom ("current player"). My personal best of 161,250 doesn't count, since that was done months ago, before I joined up here. The "last" and "high" scores are what I'm submitting (74,480). Also look at the bottom and top of the screen and you'll see it is the windowed version.
Serious, do you have a bunch of stuff slowing down your computer? Because this and Arcadia run the same here whether being windowed or full screen.
Meh, I wasn't going to turn in a game less than 100,000, but this was the best I could do after many. I'll beat it at some point if someone else does.
Although they did quite a few knock-offs (Suicide Mission was just Asteroids, Communist Mutants from Space was Galaxian), the Supercharger had some killer stuff, such as this one. I have a Supercharger and one third of its entire library myself.
Also, right click and View image to get a clearer view of the score, I forgot to mention.
Great, someone also played!
"...mine displays differently than HIS does", I should've said. Duh.
Due to me and Serious having different computer setups (obviously), mine displays differently than he does: in the Windowed version of mine, you can only see the bottom part of the window, not the top like Serious does in his evidence. You can see the toolbar at the bottom of my shot (the top part doesn't display).
Yeah, two people said they have the '98 version of Centipede after I put up my score for that, so hopefully we'll get in some more scores for that soon. I'll also see about downloading and playing Arcadia as well.
This is one of Sokurah's (sp?) most downloaded games, by the way.
"Hopefully someone will beat my score."
I will! Just changed configuration to Windowed mode :)
Nice to see people are picking up on some of my suggestions!
Yeah, Scramble I use for stuff that I feel has "Earthy" tones, such as Protector and with Invaders-like games, especially with, on the original Space Invaders, the invaders turned green when they got close to your base! Nice coincidence :)
That way people won't "jump" to conclusions (sorry )
Hah, I was thinking if I could remember or not how to do a screenshot on this device, then figured I should get the camera for it. Lucky thing too, as the device froze up right after I submitted the score :)
Waaaaaay behind Jon in this one, but oh well, best I could do after several games.
"I voted Yes since I doubt you used the glitches/cheats on this game"
No, I didn't, as the moment I saw there was a score up for it I played a game of it, beat it, and submitted it. No time to cheat there, but...
"it is too easy to Cheat on this Game and Picture Proof is not sufficient enough to prove if you played without using them. The thing is your score is generally Very Low for you to have used the Glitch/cheat."
...I don't know what the glitch/cheat is for this. I've played it quite a bit over the years, but never looked for them (as I didn't know there were any). I just like to play.
"I recommend Video Proof on this Game, but It isn't like people are going to do it... it would be too long (Another Reason I don't submit to this Record Chart)"
I don't think it'd be too long for video proof; even at five million it wouldn't be an hour. And I don't have a video camera.
Dang, nothing after the enemy base, the game just ends?
It'll be cool to see how y'all do :)
Cool, the more would be the merrier with this!
The second pic is a screenshot, illustrating what I said with the screwed up display.
One of those types of games where the Print screen function doesn't work properly. Anyone know how to get around that? I'll put up a second picture illustrating that.
R. Hero looks a bit wrong being all blue :P
Yeah, I've always thought it was a bit underrated. Somewhat like several shooters where the targets change (Megamania), but turned sideways.
Make sure you look in the right spot, since the "Normal game" entry is blurry; the Hard + one isn't. Right click and view photo for a clearer view of it.
Go here for reference: http://www.highscore.com/scores/Vectrex/Thrust/12045
I had reset my Vectrex for high scores, so note there was no score for this variation.
The score is a bit higher than on a normal game, due to there being a Perfect bonus offered (and I was able to accomplish several times, obviously) that the normal game doesn't have.
This was taken in my room with the door closed, and not the den, where he's free to roam :)
Ain't movie licenses great? :P
The Sundance cart can be seen at bottom right of my Vectrex for those who aren't familar with its game over screen.
Ugh, it's no fun playing on default where you can't shoot the suns!
Everything's up now.
A shot of this was hard to get, due to some flicker. Another photo I'll be uploading in a minute comes from a video I did but my name wasn't on it. The video will also be up shortly.
Hey cool! Nice to see there will be another score for this
Right click and View image to get a clearer view of the score; it's pretty small, so I had to leave the photo pretty large.
Pretty difficult to get this one! It was too dark last night to get a photo, as the flash kept on going off, so I had to wait until this morning to move my Vectrex by the back glass door to get this shot. Also included a shot of the cat by the Vectrex :)
No, homebrews are perfectly fine (there's plenty for the Vectrex alone).
Thanks for posting though, I didn't even know this was out.
Have you played many games of this? Because I know years ago that, for some reason, part of it didn't work correctly on emulators: the puzzle pegs you picked up were in the same places every time. If that's still the case, then this game shouldn't be allowed on an emulator, since they're supposed to be random.
Just a heads up, and not dissing you or anything. It could be this problem was solved a while back.
How many games are included in this package?
For those wondering what on Earth this is, it's the mini-game found on The Adventures of Willy Beamish cd. Just get Willy home from the last day of school, go to his room and click on the "Nintari" (har) console.
Hard to get a screenshot with this one. The thing looks "wavy", so I did a bit of a closeup as well.
Dunno, the frog doesn't look real glad though :P
"nice that's getting bumped WAY up my wish-list!"
It's a great release! Very little is wrong with it.
Yeah it is. That's one of the many things I like about that great package, is that I equate it to drumming: you can place the controllers wherever you're most comfortable with them (like with your high hat cymbals!).
Yeah, that's the piece that's missing from this version. I need to go check that out actually, I heard it's great but never heard it.
Yes, quite the hard game with the A. I. adjusting to you. I go back to it throughout the years and have to start over in re-learning stuff!
Extra life is probably at 10,000 for the default.
I'd like to if I had access to an SNES :)
That's nuts! I couldn't play that way (/without two controllers) with my Genesis version of this.
You use one or two controllers with this one?
Yeah, that was me. But by looking at the videos it's very obvious the same game (gameplay-wise).
Was this a later re-release? I got mine new and it doesn't have a copyright screen to it.
Just skimmed through the video; the mazes at 8:00 and 12:31 are on the Genny version.
It looks like your weird mazes are slightly different than on the Genesis one. I'll watch your video later; the picture that appears for your video when not played isn't familiar to me.
I always enjoyed the strange variation the most on my Genesis copy of this game :)
You might have to remove this score, as the rules call for no continuances to be used.
I return to it over the years, as it'll make you eat your shorts if you haven't played it in a while! You forget things and the A. I. is a killer! Lotta secret bonuses and all too. Strange game!
WARNING: BEWARE to those that are planning on uploading a score, there is a bug in this game where once you save your name, a lot of the time your score will read only 337,000 (?!)! I ran across this several times over the last couple of weeks (never noticed it before!), so be prepared to get as far as possible, pause the game and take photos then. If this bug doesn't happen after your game ends, you're lucky!
Anyway, might want to right click and view photo; I hate this font and background, it's a bit hard to see. Also note my tv is pretty old, hence the middle dark part (not visible to the naked eye but it shows up on camera).
For whoever it is that's been consistantly putting in no votes for these and falsely claiming that the player didn't follow the rules, if that's in regards to the "pro" ranking, that is FALSE. If you play a game on here a few times and do well, you automatically get that rating. There is, to the best of my knowledge, no way to reset that. If there is, then state it in an anonymous comment, I'll remove the photo, reset the game and resubmit a score.
The game does not get any harder; just because it says pro doesn't mean I'm playing at an advanced level, I'm playing at the DEFAULT level.
I can hear the music going through my head on this one already :)
Note how it clearly reads MAME and Astro Fighter at top left next to flash, along with the high score at center.
For whoever it is that's so quick to vote no with no reason, consider a few things:
1. I have chronic fatigue, taking a dozen naps a day. You know how hard it is to do daily things in between naps? Why would I waste time faking a score?
2. I'm over 40 years old. I have better things to do.
3. Note that I have HyperCam2 on here. For the comment saying they'd rather have a video, this slows down MAME and the video comes out jittery, which could also raise doubts. If you have some tips in regards to having it run smoothly I'm all eyes. BUT
4. Saying "just pay for it, that runs better" (note: I don't know if that's it or not, it's just a guess) or "webcams aren't expensive, so get one of those" aren't options when I'm not working.
5. You aren't HERE while all I'm doing is playing a game and following the rules with no cheats or anything. Seriously, THINK all this over.
Here's one of the places you can play it: http://www.addictinggames.com/funny-games/go-to-hell-game.jsp
"Dynamite"? How about "Drugged Up Dan"? WEIRD-looking game!
Also, right click and View image, that makes my name easier to see then.
Note that my gaming expo pass with my name on it is at top right of the photo. Kind of hard to see, but I couldn't figure out how to got the toolbars off in order for the score and my High score page with my name on it to all fit!
The game can be played here: https://games.yahoo.com/game/mortanoid-flash.html
So, you like Breakout/Arkanoid? (Of course you do, if you're a classic gamer!) You like...morbid themes? Well that's Mortanoid then!
This photo was taken as is on my computer, showing my initials like required. No rules state I have to show the entire desktop or anything, or for whatever "reason" someone voted no because I cropped it. This score was 100% legitimately earned.
I hope you like her well done :P
Those look familiar :)
How's the joystick on that one? Even though the Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man is a very good unit, they still couldn't come up with a decent joystick for it. The twisty part of it for Pole Position went out within the 90 day warranty on my first unit, so I was able to replace it. A few years later it just went out on it again last week :| Luckily I was able to get my score in though!
Thanks! Could've done better if I had beaten it, but with it only going up after I requested it, I figured this was good enough for now! :P The game will make you eat your shorts if you haven't played it in a while!
A bit of an underappreciated one, in my opinion.
Getting your TI fix today, eh? :)
Thanks for posting this! I have an article on this from a magazine from back in the day (might've been Joystick) and always wanted to play it.
I'm surprised you didn't use any shields on the second screen to jack up your score for each deflected arrow, but then I guess it can be dangerous when they wear off and you could be hit by one.
That's one weird-looking game!
Definitely ok from my end, even without right clicking on it.
Eech...can't stand the updated look!
Good to see there'll be another score on the board!
It seems to me this is in the right spot, as the rules state for it to be played on actual hardware (i. e. a cab), although I can understand where people are tetering on this issue.
Do you have a YouTube channel? I'm not much for putting my e-mail address up in public, but if you have one you could PM me there, e-mail me your photos and I could right them up and send them back to you.
Oh, and who is the guy here in Houston? I know of quite a few coin-op related organizations here :)
Not sure if that's a "man"! :P
So what's "Pac-Man 256"?
85%?! That's nuts!
"Ah-lert! Ah-lert!" is always amusing :)
This is probably one of their best, as only Xevious was totally ruined, other games only have minor issues, plus the joystick could've been a little better too. Still give it an 8/10 though, personally.
It's been fed batteries and my giving it attention!
But did you kick Dr. Machino's butt?
Nothing to fix, as the games play for free! :)
You can tell when they did a plug and play unit correctly when your patterns from back in the day still work with a game :)
Thought I'd include the unit itself in this picture :)
Yeah, definitely comes up now.
Private video again.
Hah, looks like you could totally whomp my pathetic, under 100,000 ass if you had my Jakks unit with this game on it :)
Ha, should've entered the 'b', rather than just have it sit and flash! Oh well, the score is more visible at top left, at least...
Kind of hard to read my badge with my name on it, but it's there (right click and then choose to view).
Great, lucky move!!
Yeah, I know what you mean about using a real joystick. Works much better that way :)
Cool remake of it that wasn't screwed up (for once!).
You can read about it and see pics of it here: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Phoenix_%28Minion_Software%29
(or maybe taking out a few characters will work: http://botss.wikia.com/wiki/Phoenix_(Minion_Software)
I always thought this one was a bit underrated. A bit of a different game.
Agreed. I think the one time I ever beat the Atari 2600 version was on the random one, I'm not sure.
Great game! Neat to see the graphical improvements on this version, although they could've done a little bit with R. Hero himself, the miners and creatures!
"Well not long, what's the word? Uninteresting :-("
Ha, oh well! Nice Bean avatar though.
"as for settings on that gasme, I own it to and also have no idea."
Yeah, I don't think there is a way, unless it was just left out, like with the extra speed boost on the Sega 32X Shadow Squadron game. I don't think there is a way to get past the final level without using it, yet they left it out of the instructions. I didn't know about it, nor how to beat that last level until years later when this internet thingy started getting all over the place.
Hi Congslop (interesting name!), nice meeting you.
Looks like it'll be the same thing when I enter a score for the Hitting Home Runs (or whatever it's called) entry on here: two out of the three people currently holding records have at least one no vote there too, again, I assume because it says "pro" as their status. No way to reset that to the best of my knowledge, and the Hitting Home Runs game doesn't get any harder than when you first start playing it (I think), even if you're at a pro level.
Actually I think I know what the deal is: in the photo, it reads "pro". In case the no voter thought "the rules state to play on the DEFAULT setting, NOT 'advanced' or 'pro' settings", then they're still WRONG.
Even though your rank increases with the better you get, the game itself does not change. (It does for the boxing and baseball games though.) This is also STILL the default setting because there is no way -- to the best of my knowledge -- to reset the game back to the very beginning and you can start over. I can look through the instructions again but I'm pretty sure you can't do this, as that's one of the few things I don't like about Wii Sports: when things start getting harder and harder you're stuck there; you can't go back to the beginning/the easier settings.
If that's not it, then I don't know what it is.
I mean, seriously? One person is right and THREE people who posted scores did them incorrectly? Sorry that I don't have the money for a time machine to take me back to when the family first got the Wii and I made myself not play it, knowing that highscore.com would be along several years later and then I'd be accused of cheating. (sarcasm)
One of my arcade favorites!
Ever play the modern day remake from Minionsoft?
Someone care to discuss this?
I get a "no" vote stating "Submitter did not follow High Score's rules."
Excuse you? Here are the rules:
Rules: Game must be played on a Nintendo Wii compatible console. Play with default settings unless otherwise specified. 1 credit. No saves. No continues. 1 player mode only. No hacked files or cheat codes.
I played it on a physical Wii (the family's). I played with default settings. One credit only, no saves or continues (since the game doesn't have any of that), one player mode only, nothing hacked or cheated.
My name is on the photo too, in case they were going to try to bring that up.
Have fun! Quick and fun games.
Note my name at the bottom center of the screen.
This is a simple but fun game that, in order to be successful, you need to adapt a sort of "tunnel vision"!
Give it a try!
Wow, you're outta your mind to play that game for that long! :P
This was pretty tough to do, as I tried taking like 15 different photos, but the flash kept on obscuring my name (you can see a better shot with the badge I always use here: http://www.highscore.com/score/?s=9227). I tried it with that, writing my name on a piece of paper, taking the shot from different angles, etc., and this was the best that it came out. (But then later I remembered it ASKS if you want to submit your score; good going! Could've just gone for a straight screenshot there! Oh well, I might not've done as well on my next game, so...) But the camera's like 12 years old and one of the buttons fell off the control panel, so now I can't work the menu to tone down the flash. :|
Anyway, I invite retro gamers of all sorts to give this a try, especially for fans of Dig Dug and Lode Runner. Granted, the goals and gameplay are different but I think you'll dig it (sorry :P ).
And GO TO HELL! (if you can make it :) )
Ha, it's like Google somewhat ripped off the screen orientation with their Pac-Man version decades later!
Had to look for it a bit there!
Games like this make it really easy, what with having your name and score right there!
Yes, very weird indeed.
And actually it's cats in the window or your dog that you can feed.
Yeah, but your initials are on it. Some people don't even do that much.
It depends on the unit; some of them are crap. I've played a few.
Well, perhaps the trainer deserved it...10 times :P
Damn nice pics with the handhelds AND scores easy to see!
At 10,000 you would've had an extra guy!!
Thanks banshee :) Yes, beforehand there were just two listings for this game: the US (/crashes on level 13) version and the European version (which I assume never ends; I read on the Vectrex news group years ago someone got to level 90 or something). This is the last, mostly recently added one, and is worldwide, as someone on my vector gaming forums stated his instructions to the game are exactly like mine: "space dust" and "alien forces" are mentioned (which are in this version only). For many years I thought only my/a later version of the Vectrexes made here in the States had that stuff. I forgot who posted it but he doesn't live in this country! (Maybe France?)
I've yet to give anyone a 'no' vote myself. I know Atari 2600, Sega Genesis, Sega 32X, CD, Vectrex and arcade stuff the most. That's a lot of blanks I don't know about!
This one WAS requested and Serious put it up. There are ones for the original Mine Storm U. S. version (crashes at level 13) and the European version too, along with Mine Storm 2.
Yes, I look forward to when I get a camera too :)
Although that makes it a bit difficult!
Thought it'd help, especially with people apparently not believing it (this is the first score where I have less than 100%) :| Good grief, there's TWO scores here! I did a link and earlier evidence to another score in November. Really sorry I don't have a camera to video record it when I'm not working, people.
Wow, you actually have this on cart!
Yep, that score's legit! For those that don't know, here are the several versions of Mine Storm:
1. The original that crashes if someone clears Mine Field 13
2. A later version (this one) that goes up to level 89. Weird things happen, like the game skips a lot of Fields (there's no level 14 here, as it skips from 13 to 15), there's added space dust and alien forces that are worth several thousand points each, hence insane scores such as this one, plus you can't get past level 89
3. The European version without skipping Mine Fields/no space dust or alien forces. This is believed to be the same game as the very rare Mine Storm 2 cart.
I also made a similiar score back in November, which can be seen here: http://vectrex.wikia.com/wiki/File:Darrylb500mstorm2013.jpg
Pic of an alien forces can be seen here: http://vectrex.wikia.com/wiki/File:Spaceforces.jpg
Yeah, you're right about the reactor, it takes you straight to the next solar system.
On the Vectrex Gravitrex clone, though, you HAVE to destroy the reactor on each level to advance to the next one. It's mandatory there!
Hah, I've got this one :) Without giving you extra cities after losing them with every 10,000 or something, the games don't last very long!
ONE of! Super Zaxxon was a lot faster and tougher (and not as big a hit as this original)!
Although a little hard to see (why the camera flash didn't go off against a dark screen is beyond me), my gaming expo pass with my name on it is at left. Also note that I didn't use any continuances (at the bottom), like the requirements ask.
So how many joysticks did you break to get this score? :)
Yes indeed scores this high are possible (voted, by the way), as my personal high score is 999,959 (no, I couldn't do 999,999 because I was on the Grid Bug screen and they're 50 points each!). That was back in the day, though, as I played it a few years ago at a gaming expo, had forgotten the Light Cycle patterns and all and couldn't even get 100,000!
The graphics weren't bad for back then.
Pretty high score for this game, congrats! (voted)
As there's no name on the game over screen to identify it with, note the Royal 21 cart in my Vectrex on bottom right.
Mine Storm had several versions: the one that crashes on level 13, another one goes to level 89 (the one I have, with a lot of weird stuff in it, such as Space Dust and alien forces), and others can go on forever (which I think is the same game as Mine Storm II).
Oh well, a good start. Nice find too! (I bought it with my Genny new back in the day.)
Thanks! I'll make sure not to do that again :)
Also, thanks to those who had voted on it beforehand, as I also don't mean for people to have to vote again.
Note: I had accidentally submitted this last night to the emulated section of the Genesis, which I didn't play on an emulator, I played it on my Genny. If this doesn't count, then no big deal, I can just play another game and submit that score then.
Heh, well it could be worse! I kept on having to start over, missed not having the Pac Boosters (argh! So slow!), then was going "get 50,000 for an extra life, get 50,000..."; nope! That's all the other variations! They give you extras at 50,000 and possibly every 50,000 afterwards, I can't recall which. On this Arcade (default) setting you get the one extra at 10,000 and that's it. So I gave up then when I lost my last life; I doubt I can do much better than this.
Good luck with your game though!
Note how it reads Arcade mode at top right of center, indicating the default setting for this game, rather than playing the Strange, Big or Mini maze setting.
Thanks, and welcome aboard! (Or maybe you were here first...humanoid ;) )
Note Zantis cart at bottom right in my Vectrex, as the name of the game doesn't appear on the high score or reset screen, unfortunately.
Ha, Cosmic Alien! Not a favorite of mine. Congrats on the score though :)
Cool, I've always wanted this plug and play unit, even if not all of the games are spot-on reproduced.
Foster, that's cool that you like this. I attend an anual local gaming expo here in Houston and for some reason (or not?) people rag on it. What's not to like? An inverted, hidden mini-playfield and, what, five flippers altogether? (I can't recall for sure right off the top of my head without having The Pinball Arcade app on right in front of me.)
That pass with my name on it (hard to read, I know) is from a local arcade expo that I've attended many times over the years. I plan on using it with all my score entries :) After all, it's fitting!
