Fun game - although possibly a bit of a dissapointment if you were expecting a straight up continuation of the original star fox. Bonkers of Nintendo not to release it though.
What kind of game doesn't include a highscore table!? (oh a cheap £2.99 hi-tec game of course!

I forgot to take a shot of the console/screen. :(
"We have to go back marty!"
"Where Doc, where?"
"to the other side of the screen. Again."
Think i forgot to keep my vid of this :(
(video coming! I thought it had uploaded but apparently its still going)
Yes! and from the same guy who brought us Elite as well! Gawd save the queen and all that.
score @ 5.10
Yeah it's a Pie 3 in a lego box (so if you see me post any MAME scores you know where they came from :D )
(I also have a PI Zero controlling my lighting. Cuch amazing things)

grr! no hioghscore table so here's a shot of my PCE in action
Grr! I hate games with no proper high score table! Here's a shot of my PCE in action
Cheers! It's a fun little game.
This is an inoffensive sort of sequel isn't it? Mind you, i'd like it a bit more if it didn't spam you with so much stuff.
(It's all about the total score rather than the strength! Shame score has to be an integar. I want my .5 ;) )
(Life lost at around the 12 minute mark)
yes it is here now! My wife is amazing and found one for the original price just before christmas.
I've put a few extra games on mine :D
heh i was going from the vid rather than the screenshot. Custom fonts have a downside when it comes to legibility
is it me, or is the 360 pad terrible for fighting games?
Wow! Not b ad going at all, Benzi
Lets try again, shall we? :D

score @ 6.03
(i have no idea what happened in the driving section)
"try it on a higher difficulty"
heh, I see you got a telling off from Capcom ;)
For a system that didn't have a massive fan base, there's a LOT of modern development isn't there? :D
sorry, pictures a bit crap - but you can see the megadrive's comforting red LED :)
I had to reconnect so i lost a few seconds near the beginning.
Casio eh? Now there's a name you don't hear often in a VG context!
score at 36:39.
annoyingly my stream failed while i was switching games, so me loading this/showing dip switches is missing.
However it's not really that impressive a score.
Good show old chap. Heh, i've got a new score in on Hellfire. One in one out ;)
(can't believe I had to put a request in for this one!)

This is a terrible game,
Yeah, I see what you mean. It makes sense to have a defined starting point. NUKED.
( i forgot to photogrqaph my final score - here's an earlier version of what's clearly an older version of the score table :) )
Gadzooks! Right you are. I had mugged myself!
Always traps. I hate traps.
what a numpty! I forgot to photo the final score (i have, however, included a picture of an older version of what it is clearly the same high score table.
score at 1:03.41. It wan't my first continue BUT the score resets when you continue (so it still counts, right?)
This game is testament to how easily you can royally screw up a tried n tested formula.

Alas, it cut out before i reached the boss :(
It's a good 'un, but there was at least one other port: Sega released it for the SG-1000: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mwImYFTj7g
(Skill 4 from 11.30 in video)
man, the PC engine version is HARD.
(AKA Cho Jiku Yosai Makurosu Kaun Daun)
"look buddy - we don't care if the city IS sinking into the depths of hell. A deadline's a dead line and we want our money!"
Heh no, There's definitely a big generational divide. Maybe it will all work out for the best, but i'm not holding out much hope!
I've just had a look and there's a couple of reasonable condition ones on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sega-Master-System-Master-of-Darkness-Boxed-Retro-Game-Complete-Cleaned-Manual-/142161513474?hash=item21197c8c02:g:0QMAAOSw8w1X6Wgl
Might be worth messaging and asking if they'd consider sending to the US. I got my GX 4000 on the cheap because i messaged a 'collection only' guy and asked if i could send a courier. Apparently i was the only one who thought to!
Supernatural platformer starring a Dracula hunter? Now there's one i haven't seen before...

sorry! ignore first picture
10 year old me is unimpressed with 30 year old me.
This one's an absolute must-play for anyone who's a fan of Star Fox!
It was a pretty brave line up in some respects "Sega have thr latest arcade games. What do we have?" "Well, we have this slow, gentle flight simulator..."
There was a...small administrative muck up on my part. Turns out that sharing pictures on a link via google photos doesn't actually upload them straight to your account, so if you delete them from your phone they're gone for good >_<
I've uploaded the picture to show i have actually got the game/console, because i know the upscaled RGB capture could just as easily come from an emulator.
score at 34'45"
I am a prat and managed to delete my evidence while tidying up my phone. I've included a picture of a later stage so you can see my console/cart setup.

Sore right at the end of the vid...
i've uploaded my initials from another table (didn't get a HS for this one. Sob)
i actually had a go on an intellivision the other day - bloody hell they're big beasts!
i get the impression that this is sort of considered the ugly step child of the Super FX family, but it went down well at the time AND i think it still holds up fairly well today.
PArt of me wants to say i actually preferred the SG1000 version.
The other part REALLY likes the thought of space penguins

Always found this game a-maze-ing...
it's one of those annoying titles that flashes your score up and then gets rid of it forever. bah. there's a nice pic of the title screen!
Ahh, what a game
Oh, a good excuse to post this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yzg9M6IG7Xc
The original computer version is so good...I have no idea why they tried to make it more like double dragon
It's very small scale - you have to get in touch with a guy called Gerald over at the CPCWiki Forums. That's not quit as dodgy as it sounds: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/
yep yep! There's a flash cart available.
In fact, there's a relatively healthy scene for it - they've hacked a load of CPC games so that they work without a keyboard. It's fun, for the price.
That's my...GX4000! https://mechafatnick.co.uk/2015/05/14/fatnick-has-a-gx4000/
Sadly it doesn't play anywhere as epic as it looks. I have some scores up on here if you want to see it in action
ha yes. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some toasters out there somewhere running Q*bert!
I was playing the original on the train not so long ago and couldn't remember what to do with the drink!
No no! It's a bit more versatile than that, however as a machine it was designed more to be something that COULD play games, rather than something specifically for gaming.
The spectrum has a palette of 15 colours (black, 7 'dark', 7 'bright.')The screen is divided into blocks 8x8 high, with a maximum of two colours usable in each 8x8 block. This means that, if the blocks don't come into contact, you can have loads of colours on screen - check out speccy R-Type:https://retrollection.files.wordpress.com/2015/04/r-type-zx-spectrum.gif
If the blocks touch, however, things get a bit messy and their colour attributes clash - hence Dizzy's head turning brown here: http://www.tzxvault.org/Spectrum/Screens/FantasyWorldDizzy.png
Consequently, if you have a particularly busy scene (or needed to ram something together in a hurry) the easiest way was to just to do everything in monochrome - then everything had the same colour attribute
(Worth noting that the spec was relatively high res for the time display was - 256 × 192, as opposed to 160 × 200 pixels for a normal C64 game)
Yep! Zilog Z80 - Same as the Master system, Amstrad etc.
Loading from an original tape was an even bigger head ache - took an age to load the opening, then an age to load the first level, then you had to load some more if you wanted to change character.
score at 9:45
Score at 8 mins
Welcome to the club! It's a great investment. You wouldn't think upgraded sound would make as much difference as it does.
Ahh yes, the slightly dodgy 'boogie walk'
I quite like the soundtracks (both arcade and CD.) I actually used a speech sample from the game on one of my own: https://open.spotify.com/track/0FZwoUzl5nbbHzVVseHvT3
i love this game. Even if it does make my eyes go a bit wibbly!
I am officially a numpty.

ITs an awesaome thing isn't it? I'm hopefully going to create my own Pico-8 game sometime this year.

What an awesome game.
Score at 5.20.
Turns out I am not very good at bubble bobble :(
as in "Not as good as" :)
I liked Codemaster's random budget 'simulators'
Score should be 49.5, but HS doesn't account for decimal points. It wanted to round up to 50, but some people might have considered that cheating ;)
Hello! I don't suppose you have a video or something to go with the screen shot?
No table and a score that can become OBSCURED by the scenery!?
I hate games without a proper high score on the game over screen...
BEFORE VOTING THAT THE SCORES DON'T MATCH:
This is a v unusual game, so it has a v unsual scoring system! The way it's been balanced is 10000 points for each letter lit, plus the game's score on top of that, which is why there's a discrepancy.
Yeah, in pretty much all departments! I love all of the little attention to detail (like the scanline effect)
recorded on a Droid phone connected to an ipega game pad
i don't want to tell you because you'll beat my score :P
Up: shoot the door on the far left
buttobn 1: Shoot the middle door
button 2: Shoot the door on the right
i have absolutely no idea wht the picture came out all blurry. You can just about make out that it's the same screen as the video, anyway.
I can't spell my own name, apparently.
The name of this entry should probably be changed to Robocop [Serve The Public Trust] as it would be quite hard to prove any of the other difficulties.
Also, played on a mastersystem pad! If you have a +2 than an atari-to-sinclair adaptor is the best £6 you can spend.
BTW: This should be compatible with the Kempston interface on the Speccy. If the only interface you have on the SPeccy is the Sinclair II, there's a cheap cable you can get from ebay to make them compatible.
Sorry! Vid is a bit smaller than expected, but if you put it in fullscreen everything is clearly visible :)
Played in Spectaculator on a Nexus 5 with an ipega gamepad
a pox on the head of those who programmed games with no high score tables!
it is - just a proof of the score rather than a vidof my mad pac mania skillz
yes - in the week its 99p to!
Fried bread is litterally just bread fried in a pan. Noone should have it as it is probably among the worst things you could probably eat...but man is it good.
Weird...sorry chaps, Youtube seems to have created two videos and this one was set to private! You should be able to see it now though.
Slightly worried that i got 5 yes' with a private video. I like to think i'm a trustworthy sort of guy...but no evidence at all? :S
I have completed it before! I csan't seem to do it on camera though. Damn it :D
Ha! We've got the white one in Mini-MechaFatnick's room, to store her books in. It is a bit crazy that everyone in the world has Swedish Furniture

Photo to come...Game is running on a megadrive through a POWERBASE FM
All 3 actually have a common source - Buck Rogers Planet of Zoom was an arcade game released by Sega in 1982. I wonder if they'd loat the license before releasing the SG version
Heh seems a waste if you've gone to all thst effort old bean :)
Perhaps request a nee entry with "any tactics allowed" in the special rules?
Lets just say that Girl's Garden and i are best PALs ;)
I should probably get my MS modded at some point
I knew the name, but i'd never actually played it before this! He isn't a very friendly fellow is he?
Recorded at the same time as the midway stuff. I couldn't stream because Mrs was on the computer :(
No video because Mrs Fatnick was on the computer!
No vid - mrs fatnick was on the computer at the time!
They were bought out by midway between us/eu releases :)
Holy crap! Was actually getting a slim to replace my PS1! Seems you're quite right though. Who'd have thought an over-clocked PS2 would have enough grunt for perfect ps1 emulation?
Had this on the speccy! What a game :D
Bettee than the 16bit versions as well
Video to come - youtube acting oddly :(
reposted because i posted it into the wrong cat
Video to come, but youtube is acting VERY strange all of a sudden :(
Yep - No emulation at all! It's a bit like the PS1 and the PS2 (Only slightly more awesome - Megadrive games actually get to use both the FM sound chip exclusive to the megadrive AND the original PCM chip from the MS)
Take it you aren't a fan of the new boss on stage 6 either, Derek? ;)
Ooh this is an interesting one: Astro Flash looks like it's exactly the same as Transbot, so I'm guessing the latter was just a name change? Should the two entriues be merged?
Yes! I was originally put off by the fact its so different from the arcade, but it's definitely a good title in its own right.

Like this one, they're a couple of collections of early sega arcade games (Like the Samurai and the original Monaco GP.)
Absolutely! This and the Sega Memorial collections can be picked up relatively cheaply.
@mark: well done old chap! I MIGHT concede defeat, as this game is bonkers ;)
@LarcenTyler: the Master System is actually the third revision of the SG (hence the name mk3 in Japan) processor's the same but the video hardware was much more limited (just compare the different versions of Hang on or Wonderboy.)
heh i think that might be more down to me I'm afraid :) It's not too bad at all - VERY hard though. It's one of those titles where the folks doing the conversion seemed to have forgotten that it doesn't cost 50p a go anymore!
(youtube vid is being perculiar, The original is here: http://www.twitch.tv/mechafatnick/v/17489440)
Last minute blur. Bah humbug.
heh, look at5 that! Picture taken JUST as it was going back to the sega screen
Also, this is the JP Version of the game (called Space Invaders 90 rather than 91)
VIDEO LINK: http://www.twitch.tv/mechafatnick/v/17189792
score appears at about 5:00 in the video! This is a pretty tough port - the controls are VERY slippery
Actually its not a port! Ovean bought the rights early (from the story boards, i think) and sub-licensed the arcade :)
I like the speccy cersion best, myself.
Yes it is incredibly annoying. On the brightside the route stays in memory though, so you can run the same route without reloading.
The last stages do serm a bit cheatey thanks for spawning a load of cars in space which is literally too small for overtaking.
cant help but think the flippers are way too short for the gap on this one...
I Love Jeff Minter games. Even if they do call me Barry Manilow :(
Yeah i love VO - its definitely in my top ten saturn games. That last boss is a bit of a strange one isnt it? Considering how the rest of the game has you in fighting game mode, its weird to have to switch to 2d shmup at the last second.
I forgot how stingy Sonic 1 is with the points!
Bloody labrinth boss...
An EX Cap - normally works like a charm, but it froze after a couple of mins yesterday. After a restart it was fine for outrun.
there IS a video! It won't let me link it as evidence for somereason. Can be found here:
played on a wii! My capture card cut out, but i still have half a video for this. I keep getting an invalid host message when posting it as a twitch vid though. Any ideas? Video is here:
My capture card failed. Sob :(
Heh, you should try the speccy version!
Yes! It really is a very neat solution isn't it? Shame that nintendo didn't formally accept it once the writing was on the wall for the Wii.
Sory for the short video...I was only supposed to be giving the rom a quick check (playing on the wii :) )
@trickster - sorry i forgot to reply to you. It's jolly good fun, but a bit weird to play as a console game (you have to do a funny diagonal down movement to enter caves above you in the art!)

ha yes. "I can almost beat senior, i can easily beat beginner i'll just beat Juni...HOLY %$%£^£^%^££5"
Well played old chap
Yes, I agree with Derek - The rules do say 'Play with default settings unless otherwise specified.' It wouldn't be so much of an issue if there weren't already scores present, but all the other scores on this leaderboard hae the difficulty set to normal.
Still, if you request an easy category and resubmit, you'll get the first AND worldwide trophies :)
Score at top of the screen (and stramgely segmented into two sections!?)
I've made the photo black and white to make the scoremote legible
The youtube link contains just my single highest runthrough, twitch video contains entire session (so difficulty levels aetc are clear)
Score at bottom of table!
Managed to cut the score kit of my tv shot (prat)
I expected so much more from that name :(
Its a lot of fun - in terms of gameplay its identical to the MegaCD game Sol Feace (which was a pack-in here in europe.) the mega cd version just had animated cut scenes and a redbook soundtrack
Rightey ho, ive wacked the contrast up, resized and totally desaturated and its now legible!
Ahh! sounds like you need to update your flash player.
bizarre! is it a mobile browser, may i ask? vid is a twitch link
close thing Mark! I hate that bloomin first level.
Sorry a bit blurrier than it appeared on my phone - thanks sega for putting the score in incredibly light writing on a white background
Go home S.Baz's web cam - you're drunk ;)
Sorry - no video for this one!
Yeah those spanish devs seemed to like their ganes extra hard! Had this on the speccy as well
PUT THE PEDAL TO THE METAL
Ahh i love this game..
I'll just leave this here:
You've givenme an excuse to get stuck back in to the MS version of Outrun. Thank you :D
Have you ever tried Outrun 3D? The name's misleading - its actually a different (and improved) port.
Yeah its s tricky one. You can pick up hames relatively cheap, but so many of them are identical (literally) to the speccy version.
The green screen can stand forever as testament to Amstrad's corner cutting :D
Oh Amstrad, What were you thinking with the Green Screen?
I won a copy of their games console on ebay at a super cheap price. Ha!
Surely the category should be Gynoug [Hyper, Drunk] ;)
2 Mastersystems for TWICE THE POWER? ;)
How well does it play? Does it suffer in comparison to the MD?
If you plug the scart into the TV, that leaves the RF port free to go into the computer (say , a cheap RF tv unit!)
Unfortunately it looks like my modulator is dead. Sob :(
Tough score to beat Minah! I got a faster time though :D
Achieved on a md outputting via rgb scart. No vid im aftaid. Mrs fatnick was on the computer
Sorry no vid - Mrs Fatnick was using the computer!
This was played on a Megadrive outputting via an rgb scart lead. Cannot reccomend it enough.
Ooh! There should be one. Odd! For such a graphically detailed game, its not always obvious what you can interact with
That's just my twitch ident - based on the 128k speccy. My Sega setup is a boring old pal md1 (hence the slow music!)
i like gloc as much as the next man, but 4 mins of gameplay from a 15min vid!?
No camera picture for this one i'm afraid - its one of those really annoying 'blink and you'll miss it' scores.
Heh, picture refresh maybe? The joys of crt tvs!
I found out something interesting when it comes to the Plus 2a/3: the original 128s and plus 2 output a composite video signal. For some reason, Amstrad altered the design so the same pin in the plus 2a carried a potentially tv-destroying +12v charge instead? :s
Haha! A fully functional tv :)
Thank you! :)
Thats simething thats always surprised me really - us PAL territories generally come as a package, dont we?
Its ok. V hard - feels like the character speed is slightly off and the enemies move faster than they should.
Now the original MS Streets of Rage...that IS amazing (though 1p only)
it looks like my tuner card is officially kaput :(
I think my tuner card might be dead - No RF signal at all now. Sob :(
Sorry! The score got slightly overexposed in the photoh of the actual TV. I think you can still see what it is though!
You should have renamed all the characters after highscore members ;)
Also! This was the first tome i managed to finish it with the goid ending! Hows that for lucky timing?
I was quite familiar with it to begin with. Its definitely among the MS' better driving games (even if the controls a re a bit wonky)
I was lumbered with a non functioning version of the Megadrive version, so ivoponed up the cart! The chip running the 3D was a beast. It even had its own heat sink in the case!
I like the saturn version - holds up better than most textured games
One of those 'blink and miss it' game overs I'm afraid! All i ended up taking a picture of was the game over screen.
I submitted the Zx pectrum version of Chase HQ at almost the same moment!
SCI REALLY feels like it could do with an extra button.
Sorry - silly twitch failed to record the first part of the attempt :(
I also love the way it's right next to the cart slot too - perfect recipe for a game freeze!
Slightly better quality stream this time!
argh, no score on game over! I took a screen shot at scrap brin (fearing that everything was abnout to go south) and have a screen cap of my score before the final boss (208600 + 1000 for the rings + 10000 for the time)
Sorry for the poor quality pic!
I wrote about this game here: http://mechafatnick.co.uk/2015/02/26/im-sorry/
i couldnt quite get a pic of the score. Here's game over instead >_<
forgot to highlight stream. What an idiot.
forgot to highlight my twitch stream for this. what a plonker!
score number 4 on the table
Score number 3 on the table
score number 2 on the table!
Getting there on the video front - currently proof of gameplqy (and glorious loading action!) than anything else. Amplification needed!
Oh its very complicated! You need a soldering iron, some resistors, a length of...
Nah only joking. all the ones after the original 16/48k's had a monitor plug. You can get a cheapish cable at http://retrogamingcables.co.uk
The original didn't have the dinplug connector unfortunately (Amstrad added connectors for pretty much everything under the sun! I need to test the midi-out at some point)
An interesting point is that the 48k actually outputs a composite video signal (which is why the connector is an RCA plug!) If you're feeling brave, there's a no-solder mod you can do to bypass the RF Modulator: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dbNowKZ00g
FRom here: http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/sinclair-zx-spectrum-2a-2b-3-128-rgb-av-scart-cable-tv-lead-cord-for-sale.html (theres a different lead for the earlier/non amstraf versions) plug in and you're off!
Also, the ombination of a Zx Spectrum and an RGB Scart lead is an amazing one
Again, sorry for the lack of video - Im still thinking fthrough a streaming process for the spectrum. (games like outrun are doubly hard as i couldn't even use my phone in gameplay: That's where I'm loading the tape from!)
Again, sorry for the lack of video! I'm still working on a streaming setup for the spectrum.
Looks absolutely gorgeous over an RGB scart lead :)
Note score is on the LEFT not the hi on the RIGHT :)
Sorry it's just a pic - working on getting some sort of streaming setup going for my speccy
It's quite cool that coders could do whstever they wanted to back in those days. You probably wouldntvhave so many risky characters today! We could never work out whether it was possible to beat the queen back in the day...
Technically it should be called Spitting Image ;)
This was another one based on a (highly-irreverant) UK TV program
Heh its your sanity ;)
There are quite a few duffers on the Spectrum, but i really cant think of a worse game than this. It's painful isnt it?
Crumbs! I never wanted this trophy to be cracked. And not to keep the trophy ;)
Bit harder than the 16 bit version isnt it? Did you know Yuzo Koshiro did the score?
(As you made it to Bridge Zone, it might be worth listening to the Janet Jackson song Together Again, if you've never heard it!)
There definitely should be! Maybe the 48k version is the only rom available? Im 100% certain my cassette cooy haf music
i've got three versions up on here. The MS version is probably the best (i have the cart too!) along with being more simplistic, the difficulty curve spikes really quickly. The Spectrum knock-off (called West Bank) is interesting but a bit different: you get a lot more time to shoot the bad guys, but the pay off is there are a lot more false positives!
Damn it! "getting a higher score than me" isn't a legit reason to vote no ;)
Yeah! Very indicidual as flip screen shooters go. Just dont crack my trophy, damn it ;)
Definitely think i prefer the MS/SG versions of this!
Score at around 2:28!
sorry for the lack of sound!
Such a good port!
I already have a score up for Golden Axe. The collision detection and controls make the Speccy port REALLY hard to play.
Not quite as hard as thhe speccy version of Final Fight, mind you...
I use Fuse, as it seems pretty accurate to me (havent used a genuine speccy in about 20 years!)
In fact, it emulates the many speccy variants as well.
Ive never heard of the! I use ff split so i can stream to twitch at the sane time. Any probs with the vid are likely due to my net connection - we get shafted with rubbish upload speeds in the uk :(
Fair enough! With the amount of stuff mess can run you cant really complain at thd emulation not being 100%! Id love to see how jt would handle one of the 3d titles
which emulator is that, sorry? it seems REALLY fast!
The name entry went all wibbly for me for some reason. Lucky the vid is in its own custom frame :D
Worth noting that this isn't even a 48k Spectrum game - this would work on a 16K speccy! 16K!
Good news: it's harder to die than the Megadrive version
Bad news: You'll REALLY wish it were easier to die
Perhaps the game title should be Centipede: Novice for clarifictation?
When using the GG, perhaps take a picture of the "no cheats will be applied" screen?
Yes - I think this is one of those games that's only easy if you know EXACTLY what you're doing
if you want a laugh you should try giving the MS version a go :)
Id love a genuine SG, but they really arent very practical to obtain (unless you have a spare £300 hanging about somewhere)
Mission from 16:00 - 23:46
mission from 9:05 - 14:22
mission from 2:56 - 8:05
Its n irritating one. The JP SG/MK3/MS carts used the same pins, but in a different order. There are converters you can buy to use western carts on jp MS, but not the other way around so you'd have to make it. On top of that, the SG games will only load with the JP BIOS, so you have to pull out and replace the bios chip. Or you can buy an Everdrive :D
I was just yanking your chain because the score doesnt start at 0 ;)
A yes over here!
Do all 3 still cost $39, i wonder? I remember downloading the demo from a B.B.S!
What happened to the rest of the vid? :(
Familiar with the Source material? I used to watch it when i was little, and my daughter is now hooked on it too!
Doh! my stream stopped working between Starjacker and MOnaco GP for some reason!
I'm not sure why the picture went sideways :(
Played on a pc with xbox pad
Fun shooter this. Played on a pc with xbox pad
Played on pc with a trusty xbox pad
Running via backwards compatability on a SMS
No vid for this one im afraid - it was achieved on my iphone ising the port of mame that appeard on the app store for a short amount of time.
Its wuite a basic port though - no hacks or save states or anything. Ive posted a screebgrab of the options screen.
You can definitely do a lot worse! I really like it :)
Heh, JP only. Guessing it doesn't have the same connotation!
Pc on the big tv with an xbox controller. Woo :D
As the non-jail briken port of MAME isnt widely available (it was released over christmas a few years back and taken down very quickly once apple realised their mistake!) i thought id postcthe iption screenscto to show there's no capacity for save states/cheating
Heh, my romset doesn't bave that, sadly!
No vid for this 'un - played on my iphone!
You lnow what, i dont know! Perhaps they just liked the phrase. They go together in weirdness stakes, at least
Can reccomend it! Pac moves automatically and you swipe to change direction, which works surprisingly well. Not sure of the pricing structure gorcthe full version though!
Sorry! Picture duplicated, not as clear as id hoped and accidently posted speccy vid!
Sorry! Pic is all i have for this - you can see the Megadrive's red cylon light at the bottom of the pic though
SOrry! had a cam on my hand to show i was playing, bu it got cropped
i used to be able to complete the entire game without breaking a sweat :(
I had a camera fixed on my hand to show i was playing, but its been cropped out for some reason! you can just about see my hand moving
if you're wondering, i'm not drunk! the steering doesn't auto center. I had a camera on my hands to prove i was playing, but it was cropped out for some reason? (you can see a bit of the camera footage right at the top of the vid)
WELCOME TO THE FANTASY ZONE
How do you know I didn't use a continue?
Simple! I'm to cheap to unlock the full game (with unlimited continues) as proved by picture 2 :D
Im not sure! Perhaps start a thread in the forum and get some opinions?
"Hmmm.. I dont know how the console would change the game being that it is played on an orignal cartridge, wich is the software." Its tricky. it may be official from the perspective of running the cart, but these consoles don't necessarily contain the original hardware (i know that none of the various Megadrive consoles do.)
Because of this some games do run slower/quicker than on the original hardware. Im not sure if that gives any advantage, mind you.
Ooh, what console is that, sorry?
I thought I was the first!
and to think that, on the original spectrum, I could make it through to the third level!
Unfortunately not i'm afraid :(
Weirdly, Bank panic isn't a light gun game. Instead you have to use the controller - eah button shoots at a different door (with up shooting at the far left.) This is how the original arcade machine worked too. Sorry to be the barer of bad news (its still quite fun once you get into irt)
That's really interesting - the spectrum was so prevalent on this side of the Irish Sea (and in spain, weirdly.) Your plugs/tvs are the same aren't they? I wouldn't think it would be to expensive to buy one and have it shipped over :) I'm gutted my current tv won't play nicely with the real hardware
No way! The Speccy was awesome. The C64 may have had extra colours and the SID chip, but as long as you had a 128k specify you didn't have to choose between having music or sound effects AND the games tended to play a lot better as well! The Speccy was also better at 3d too - check out the Speccy and C64 versions of Carrier Command.
As with the other versions of SF2, the final two zeroes in the score indicate that no continues were used (would be 01 if they had been)
Not sure a score challenge is the best fit for Hard Drivin, but what the hell :D
score at 4:58! Reuploaded because i mistyped my score last time. Duh!
If I were a woman, I would be the megaest of fat chicks.
sorry - the video cut out before the end :(
I am having streaking issues. At least i had the camera handy.
sorry about picture quality - having some streaming issues of late!
It's my first ever no vote! I didn't think this was controversial in the least! If you can get passed the graphics there are some really good specify conversions - Narc and R-Type are good places to start!
NIce Score! Hate that blooming fourth level...
A generic £5 EZ cap clone from Amazon. The sound doesn't work, but I just line in to the sound card instead (for the mega drive this is preferable as I can take the sound from the headphone port!)
(Yes that's Dave Perry as in Earthworm Jim Dave Perry)
Yes - irritatingly i was using a bog standard S-Video, which could either be plugged in to the TV or my capture card, so i had to play it via an FF Split window. Less than ideal! I've fixed this now though. Picture attached!
I didn't anticipate that this was going to be a high score run, so was a little bit unprepared!
ha! I like the textual 'lets play' style!
Getting the score? That's the easy bit - the hardest hting is reading the score on the screen!
I've uploaded an original picture above and one with the contrast turned up. The character on the far right isnt part of the score - the 1 is hard to make out, but if you look at the 4th and 3rd characters from the right you can see the 5 and the 8. Yay for red on blue!
(i bet someone emulating wouldn't have had this problem!)
Cool! I shall follow back. South London here - near Tooting, Croydon and a couple of nifty Retro games shops!
If you listen through headphones you can hear the hum from the same dodgy jack lead used in my Megadrive/MS videos - especially at the beginning (I do need to get a new jack lead!)
Argh! My Twitch stream crashed before the end of the game, so it didn't get the full video Aieeeeeeeeee.
(Sorry in the confusion failed to enter N at the end of my name. If you were wondering if it came from an actual saturn, please note the 'Video capture device layer' :) )
Yes! Sorry - the Master System version was (sensibly) just called Galaxy Force, where as the Megadrive version kept the arcade's "II" designation.
As far as consoles go, there is only one Galaxy Force game. Like Afterburner, the "II" is a bit misleading - it's more akin to 'Version 2" than a true sequel: The original Galaxy Force arcade was missing a couple of levels found in the final version and had a couple of bugs.
You most probably did play it on the Amiga - true to form it was ported to everything. Even the C64 & Speccy.
oops! cut the video off SLIGHTLy too soon!
Ahem. You've spotted my...deliberate...mistake there s. baz. Will stick with youtube from now on!
@OriginalGamer: Yes, i wonder if the designers had a bit of a problem with women?
Does Fuse not work with Xsplit? If works fine with freebie FF Split (which is what i use)
Thank you! It's actually just taken through a cheap generic ezcap knowck off, believe it or not!
Annoyingly, you can't see your own score after you get the Game Over! argh!
Although i missed the score, i thought i'd take a picture of the game over process to demonsrate i was playing it on a real master system on a real tv!
OOh, this has made me want to play Beach Head!
It's really impressive considering the amount of detail they managed to fit in...just a shame they couldn't produce something playable!
(Yes, I can't type my own name!)
Yeah - I really like it. Clever use of the system's limitations (and managing to be not-quite star wars too!)
But yes Frankie, I agree it's not quite the best!
Yes - it looks like a dodgy type-in job doesn't it? It is a 16k game, but that's no excuse when you consider that Deach Chase was a 16k game too!
This looks like it may be an ambitious homebrew, but it was a contemporary port - I owned it!
Very unusual for a spectrum game - its a 128k multiload - and the collision detection makes it slightly unplayable, which is a shame.
If you think 20 seems a low score, you should try playing it...
The Speccy version of Ghouls'n'Ghosts was much better - and had nifty music to boot. (Still tough as old boots though :)
Yes, it's a tad slower than Airbuster AND its the PAL version to, which i'm imaging doesn't help matters.
Sixx is indeed correct: The slightly wavey/jumpy picture, combined with the slight sound distortion you'll hear if you listen through head phones, is my evidence this is genuine.
Who thought you could be saved by a cheap dodgy capture set up, eh?
Surprisingly yes! Because everything goes up in hundreds, the developers made the cunning decision to use the first two digits of the score for the number of continues (so, Had i continued once, the score would be 673,501.)
Its a very elegent system - almost like they coded the game with this site in mind! Love the Avatar Banshee.
Hello! Easy IS the default setting for this. I don't know why.
What a soundtrack!
Sorry - I was a little unprepared as this wasn't originally a high score attempt! Took me reaching Vega to realist a) I was on the default settings b) I hadn't continued c) I'd hardly dropped a round and had perfected all the bonus stages!
Lost to Bison 2-1. Not bad on a 3-button pad though!
Thank you :D
