http://replay.marpirc.net/playback.htm

Place/Unzip the JRKtoobinfinishRev3.inp file into the WOLFMAME 0.152 playback/record folder (/inp). Right click on your main WOLFMAME 0.152 folder and then click on "Open Command Window Here". At the CMD prompt type/paste+enter:
mame toobin -playback JRKtoobinfinishRev3.inp
(during playback you can use F10 to "throttle" the game speed=fast forward)

OR

Download the MARP generic playback.bat template file from here (+ place in your main WOLFMAME directory):
http://replay.marpirc.net/bat/playback.bat

Then open that file with Notepad/text editor and replace everything with:
mame toobin -playback JRKtoobinfinishRev3.inp
(+save and close)
Then just double click that playback.bat file and away you go...

enjoy!

Finally got it working, pro tip for non english Windows users: Put MAME in the C: root directory.

GREAT GAMEPLAY on a truly amazing game, totally awesome to see someone play the game properly.

With the ease of playing games in WolfMAME these days (it's not command line anymore) and the easy way to watch a game .inp i've come to the conclusion this is the MAME version i'll use in the future. We've discussed on Atariage forums about MAME submitted scores and i've had the opinion of video only, but i'd reconsidered and think WolfMAME is the way to go.

The score submiter has to IMHO host the MAME version and .inp file tho for easy download for all users. For shorter games, i'd still rather just click a You Tube video.

havent found 152 yet.  will this .inp file work with wolfmame 153?  I don't see the folder you mentioned.

This is the version of wolfmame I used:
http://wolfmame.marpirc.net/wolfmame-0152.7z

It must be the same version of mame/wolfmame to work.
Playback files go in the "inp" folder.

If the archive does not generate an "inp" folder just create your own and place the playback files there ...sorry for any confusion with the new versions of Wolfmame (takes a few non obvious steps to get going sometimes). I prefer the GUI versions myself but I had to use a specific version for the MARP bounty I was trying to win at the time.

no success yet!  thank you jerky for the link, I'm gettin' there, I'm just apparently doing something wrong.  I followed your instructions but when I double click on the playback file nothing happens.

for the first method you suggested, I don't have any "open command window" option when I right-click the wolfmame folder.  It seems like MAME could access the video when running.  isn't there a menu you can access when using MAME that will have options for playback & record?

I think your score is legit so I'm going to support it, I just would like to get this figured out since it looks like a good way to go for using this site.  (plus I would like to watch your video   x )

do you (or Sixx) have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

What version of Windoze do you have?
Re-Command Line Prompt (from Windows Explorer):
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/27778-open-command-window-here.html

(My bad) You may have to hold SHIFT and RIGHT CLICK to see the "open command window here" option appear in the menu (see link above for example). I edited my registery to offer this option without the shift.

Once you can see the command line/wndow (should be your wolfmame directory), try to make sure your version of wolfmame152 is setup properly b4 you try to playback anything (roms + directories). First, try to play Toobin from the command line only by typing:

mame toobin (Toobin' should load if the roms are correct and in the right directory)

If it does not load then what error messages do you see if any? (in command window) You may not have the correct roms or be missing files/wrong directory etc...

If that works then exit the game and go back to the command line after verifying the Toobin' playback .INP files are unzipped in the proper /INP directory. Then, at the command line again, try this+enter :

mame toobin -playback JRKtoobinfinishRev3.inp

If it doesn't work you should get some error message. If so what does that say?

If that does work then go back and double check with Notepad that your "playback.bat" file is the same as what you typed in at the command line:
mame toobin -playback JRKtoobinfinishRev3.inp

Save and close that file + make sure it is in the main /wolfmame152 directory and try to double click it. Does it work now?

The whole command line thing can be a bit confusing. But it is worth it to watch playback direct on the emulator (as opposed to video of it) where you can verify settings and options for yourself (+pause and fast forward to some degree).

ok, made some progress.  I was missing some files.  I got the command window & it starts up toobin' & shows a video of a game where player one just does some random stuff for a while & dies with a low score.  then it shows attract-mode looking stuff for I don't know how long.  Is that the right video?  F10 isn't doing anything & I don't see a way to skip ahead.

I think I'm almost there though yes

If Toobin' runs fine from the command window (just mame toobin+enter) then that is just the normal game you can play without playback enabled (you were just watching the game's attract mode not any of my playback .INP file action). You are almost there.

Double check that you have an "inp" folder in your wolfmame-0152 directory (use windows explorer). If not create that folder (right click option + lowercase like the other MAME folders).

Then download and unzip the jky_toobin_10578390_wolf152.zip file from that MARP link into the "inp" folder you created (it should be a 1.67 MB file unziped as JRKtoobinfinishRev3.inp). Go back to the main wolfmame-0152 directory and return to the command line again (via shift+right click). Then try typing this again+enter:

mame toobin -playback JRKtoobinfinishRev3.inp

You may have to hit enter or type "ok" at the initial MAME screen that comes up.Then it should playback my recording including my entering two credits to start the game (you shouldn't see me die right away like the attract mode either...I pick up the letter N right around 124k points on the first river).

(+ if that works fine then copy/cut and paste what you typed on the command line to the playback.bat file using Notepad. Save+close that file then double click on it in the wolfmame-0152 directory to playback w/o using CMD line)

Just replace -playback with -record, and then you can record your own .INP files to share with others (or review like I do to improve my game...change rom/playback file name of course).

enjoy!
(or let me know what error messages if any show in the command window when you try to playback the .inp file)

well I keep getting the same thing.  no error messages, it seems to work, MAME comes up & toobin plays, or else it allows me to select toobin.  then a video begins.  it is NOT attract-mode. it shows the player putting in credits like you said, and then a game begins, where someone is playing and earning points (unlike attract-mode which does not count points).  they earn about 5100 pts and then sink.  then it goes on to an endless glitchy loop which RESEMBLES attract-mode but is not the same thing, I watched attract mode to be sure.

I'm discussing my problem eslewhere too.  I'm about to give up on trying but if anybody has any further suggestions I will try those.  A couple people have seen your video though and it sounds solid to me so you'll get my vote...

Sorry you are having so much trouble. There must be a mismatched/corrupted rom version/file or wolfmame file giving you trouble (everything linked on MARP should work fine since they verified it for the bounty already). Also, if there is a /nvram directory in your main wolfmame-0152 folder then delete that and see if anything changes?

I still have another 10,000,000+ game you could check out. Maybe give this older MARP submission a try w/the GUI version of Wolfmame .104 (higher score actually but ZLK's "1 credit finish bounty" had to be on a more recent version of Wolfmame). This time its just point and click (the .INP file can be anywhere because you can "browse" to select it). Note: this is on the Europe Rev 3 romset of Toobin' not the US Rev 3 one. Different wolfmame version too:

(1) 10,756,727 points ::: Sat 4/12/14 Wolfmameplus-104 (GUI) finish @ Nightmare River Class 6-5 (All letters by the end of Class 3 and x5 bonus end Class 3>6) (by the skin of my teeth)
(1) http://replay.marpirc.net/inp/c/c/7/jky_toobine_10756727_wolf104.zip
(1) http://wolfmame.marpirc.net/wolfmameplus-0104.exe

After install: Double click the mame32 plus! 0.104 file. Then select Atari's Toobin' Europe, rev 3. Then at the top left tool bar click on "File", "Playback Input...". Browse and select the JRKtoobine10756727finished.inp file + click and off you go (hopefully this time!).

Note: I get all the Toobin' letters in this game but there is no T-shirt award splash screen because it is European version (only US version had the contest option ON).

Good luck!
