This isn't Donkey Kong--darrin was probably right the first time around--as you played as Mario on Donkey Kong, NOT the female you have to rescue. There are also no hearts as part of the score as well. I had this game back in the day and this is not it. The instructions can be found online on atariage.com (here, actually http://atariage.com/manual_thumbs.html?SoftwareLabelID=148), and you can see by these scans what I said is true and correct.

Ah, good catch. I didn't notice the character reversal. There is a hack of the Coleco version like this, but I don't know the name. It isn't Donkey Kong VCS, though.. It in no way resembles the Coleco version.

I think this is actually "Donkey Kong", not "Donkey Kong VCS".
"Donkey Kong VCS" is a recent homebrew version. You can read about it here.
I will go ahead and recategorize this entry to the correct title.
